Метою дослідження є виявлення особливостей сприйняття фокус-групами респондентів концепції та проблем збалансованого розвитку міст України, а також апробація анкетування як ефективного методу отримання первинних матеріалів для суспільно-географічних досліджень. Результати анкетування є унікальною інформацією про перцепцію сучасного міського розвитку на різних рівнях, що дозволило окреслити коло проблем, які знижують якість міського середовища і виступають факторами зростання конфліктогенності. Наукова новизна статті-розроблено та адаптовано до цілей суспільно-географічного дослідження методичний підхід з перцептивного визначення якості міського середовища в контексті імплементації «Цілей сталого розвитку 2030», що ґрунтується на анкетуванні цільових груп респондентів. Проведений аналіз анкетних даних є важливою складовою комплексного оцінювання збалансованості міст України та розроблення рекомендацій щодо формування політики міського розвитку.

As a city within a federal district, Washington, D.C. defies easy description, partially because “Washington” and “D.C.” are, cognitively, two distinct places. I explore the question of D.C.’s identity within the domineering presence of the federal government through its tangible heritage. After a literature review, I follow with a framework of D.C.’s political geography and the complexities and uncertainties of its identity. Next is a four-part case study of distinct D.C. identity markers, examining its low skyline and resultant cultural landscape, an exploration of the D.C. War Memorial on the National Mall, the D.C. flag and its symbolic importance, and the stone boundary markers that demarcate and define D.C. Despite the dominance of the state in D.C.’s everyday realities, Washingtonians manage to work within this marked federal-local tension. I argue that D.C.’s political geography is the principal factor in defining and understanding it as a place. To cope with their ambiguous status, Washingtonians exhibit and maintain identity markers in the landscape to help establish a heritage and identity for the District that they would otherwise not have. Further, I contend that scholars should devote due attention to the geographical context of federal districts to appreciate these atypical geographies.

El presente artículo pretende analizar los corrimientos de sentido de la categoría "villero" en los años 90. Es decir, como se construyó el sentido y contenido del término a partir de las miradas que tienen sobre ellos los medios de comunicación, distintos actores gubernamentales y los propios villeros. Se parte de una estrecha vinculación entre esta nueva identidad villera y los procesos sociales que se dieron a partir de la crisis estructural de principios de los años 80 y las acciones estatales en tanto propuestas urbanas para este sector en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.

Depuis les années 1970, il a été érigé des politiques publiques dans le souci d'assainir l'environnement congolais. Jadis appelé « Kin -la-belle », cette appellation est loin d'être une réalité aujourd'hui. « Kin-la-belle n'est qu'un lointain souvenir dans le langage du kinois », Déjà à l'époque coloniale, il se note que la question de salubrité des habitations et leurs environs au Congo Belge était de rigueur au point où plusieurs arrêtés et ordonnances ont été mis en place pour assurer le respect de l'hygiène et de l'assainissement public. Avec l'avènement de l'indépendance, ces lois sont tombées en obsolescence. Lors de la deuxième République, le président MOBUTU a eu à lancer une opération d'assainissement dénommée « Salongo », travail collectif inventé par l'administration Mobutu (travail d'intérêt général). Cette politique publique officialisée en 1972 était pour les Zaïrois de l'époque un impôt sous forme de travail d'intérêt général, pour l'embellissement et l'assainissement de la ville. Il était assuré par l'ensemble de la population, chaque samedi après-midi. Il existait la présence d'un service de gestion des déchets et la ville disposait des poubelles partout pour que chaque déchet y soit jeté. 1 Soucieux d'assainir la ville de Kinshasa, le président de la RDC, Félix TSHISEKEDI a lancé en octobre 2019 la politique publique « Kin bopeto » évaluée à 365 millions USD.

Cinema, radio, television, video, the Internet, and other visual mass media have found niches in the dense creativity of twentieth-century urban life, altering social practices and cultural encounters worldwide. Yet, without cities where producers and audiences have congregated, mass production, texts, distribution, and reception lack human foundations. TTiis symbiosis demands careful ethnographic analysis of media within concrete urban histories. We illustrate this approach from work with film and viewership in two cities. Hong Kong has gained global fame for its films, often scrutinized for clues to its identity; we examine how moviegoing itself and the contexts of transnational spectatorship define a changing city. Philadelphia, by contrast, has rarely controlled its film images; here, it is useful to contrast the production and reading of visual images about the city with images produced through narrowcast media that speak to urban social issues. When a young fruit and vegetable vendor, Mohamed Bouazizi, set himself on fire in Sidi Bouzid, a small city in central Tunisia, on December 17, 2010, he ignited demonstrations that helped topple the country’s autocratic ruler (Fahim 2011). The volatility of the economy of the street helps explain his desperate act: he might have conducted business without a permit, city officials confiscated his goods, they even slapped him, and, meanwhile, his debt grew, making him unable to bribe officials to overlook his vending. La question de la santé constitue, depuis toujours, un centre de l'intérêt récurrent pour les chercheurs. Ce sont plus particulièrement les médecins, biologistes, épidémiologistes, qui cherchent tous à comprendre les causes des maladies et les facteurs qui favorisent la bonne santé, qui y prêtent la plus grande attention. Quant aux anthropologues et sociologues, leur intérêt pour cette question a permis de renouveler les perspectives conceptuelles autour de la santé et de la maladie en établissant des relations entre les systèmes médicaux et de pensées et le mode de vie des populations (TREMBLAY, 1982, p. 3). Il est certain que les sciences sociales ont fait leur entrée dans le domaine de la médecine à travers l'analyse de la relation de soin existant entre le soignant et le soigné. Cependant, elles ont, surtout, marqué cette présence par l'intérêt qu'elles portent aux différents acteurs et au contexte social. Ces derniers sont désormais considérés, comme faisant partie des déterminants de la santé et de la maladie, car « les effets des déterminants de la santé se manifestent sur les individus, mais leur origine peut aussi bien se situer « au-delà » qu' « en deçà » de l'individuel ». (EVANS, 1996. P. 3) Evans évoque les déterminants de la santé et de la maladie « au sens large », c'est-à-dire qu'il s'agit de ceux qui vont au-delà des individus et des circonstances dans lesquelles ils naissent, grandissent et vieillissent, pour parler des systèmes politiques et économiques en place. Parmi ces déterminants, c'est l'alimentation qui est classée en premier, puisqu'il s'agit d'un élément étranger qui entre dans le corps humain et peut aussi bien le fortifier que l'affecter. Elle bénéficie d'un intérêt particulier de la part des différents chercheurs dans le domaine médical et, depuis peu, suscite également l'intérêt des chercheurs en sciences sociales : ethnologues, historiens, géographes, économistes, anthropologues, sociologues, psychologues et sémiologues. La recherche portant sur l'alimentation est souvent effectuée à partir d'une collaboration entre ces différentes disciplines. Cette interdisciplinarité a favorisé la construction d'une connaissance empirique sur l'alimentation et a permis, dans certains cas, de dévoiler l'impact des mouvements idéologiques et culturels sur la formation et la diffusion de la connaissance médicale. Discutimos resultados de una investigación cuantitativa y cualitativa sobre desplazamientos cotidianos de educandos entre y a través de los distritos de la ciudad fronteriza de Tacna, Perú. Delimitando nuestra investigación a un grupo de edad de entre 10 y 17 años, los desplazamientos de los educandos se orientan preferentemente hacia instituciones escolares ubicadas en el distrito urbano del Tacna Cercado, proviniendo desde otros distritos urbanos y rurales periféricos. Construyendo data mediante la combinación de técnicas como la encuesta y la entrevista en profundidad, los resultados sugieren que estos desplazamientos se componen de significaciones complejas, más allá de tratarse de traslados funcionales. Constatamos que dichas significaciones se vinculan a contextos sociales y espaciales fronterizos, mucho más extraescolares que escolares, en el sentido que la educación es comprendida como una adquisición de prácticas y saberes de forma biográfica entre y a través de la frontera. Estas prácticas y saberes adquiridos aparecen asociados con procesos familiares de migración interna por motivos comerciales, desde zonas rurales hacia contextos urbanos fronterizos. Abordamos estos resultados desde una perspectiva teórica que explora la relación entre educación y movilidad, entendiendo ambas como conjuntos de prácticas y significaciones complejas.

Kao i o svakom gradu na svijetu, tako bi se i o budvanskom Starom gradu moglo pripovijedati nadugo i naširoko. Beskrajno duge mogle bi biti i priče o njegovoj centralnoj ulici -nekada Glavnoj (čiji odonim danas glasi -Njegoševa), 2 posebno ako ste, poput autora ovog rada, njen redovni posjetilac, šetač i posmatrač, koji često provodi vrijeme u društvu njenih žitelja, upoznajući je i spolja i iznutra. Glavna ulica centralna je horizontalna komunikacija Starog grada. Pruža se u pravcu sjeverozapad (glavna gradska vrata) -jugoistok (glavni gradski trg kod katedralne i drugih crkava). Blago je zakrivljena, prateći trasu jugozapadnog gradskog bedema. Dužina joj iznosi oko 135 m, dok širina varira od 2,5 do 7 m, koliko ima nešto širi prostor s unutrašnje strane glavne gradske kapije. Ulicu okružuje ukupno 24 objekta podignuta tokom raznih epoha. 3 Faktografija i drugi podaci o ovoj ulici, kao i hronika njenog razvoja i života, ostali su pretežno na nivou usmenih predanja mještana, zabilježeni tek u ponekom zapisu, uglavnom uzgredno, dok su je se istraživači tek sporadično doticali. Questo articolo fa parte di una rinnovata riflessione sulla periferia nell'ambito degli studi urbani del Sud globale. Il punto di partenza di queste note si basa sull'osservazione di un movimento duplice e intrecciato: da un lato la tendenza predominante negli ultimi decenni verso l'espansione periferica delle città in America Latina, dall'altro il crescente dibattito accademico sulla nozione di periferia e sul contributo che questo spazio/concetto può dare alla comprensione dell'urbanistica contemporanea. L'urbanizzazione periferica si riferisce qui sia a ciò che, da un approccio orientato agli attori, viene inteso come modalità predominante di produzione dello spazio urbano nelle città del sud globale in cui gli abitanti sono i soggetti centrali dell'urbanizzazione, sia, da un approccio orientato alla struttura, al modo in cui il capitale si sviluppa in modo disomogeneo nello spazio: urbanizzazione periferica quindi come un concetto di frontiera tra prospettive teoriche che, oltre a cogliere le diverse logiche di produzione spaziale, ci permette di comprendere la polisemia della periferia come luogo marginale della città, posizione subordinata nel sistema globale, relazione di potere asimmetrica e punto di vista che potenzialmente consente di destabilizzare le teorie eurocentriche della città .

This interdisciplinary conference explores the making of urban and religious worlds in and beyond the African continent, demonstrating the importance of African cities for analysing global dynamics of urban-religious transformation. We use Stephan Lanz's (2016) term urban-religious to emphasise the mutually constitutive relationship between urban and religious spheres-that is, how they are deeply intertwined with and shaped by one another. The notion of worlds captures the multiple ways in which urban-religious life is configured and envisioned. There is no singular model or enactment of the urban-religious; people live and move through multiple, overlapping urban-religious worlds. Worldmaking underscores the ongoing, unfinished character of these worlds: they are continuously made and remade-not only by planners, developers, and state actors, but also through infrastructures, ecosystems, technologies, desires, and memories. This processual framing foregrounds how ordinary residents actively participate in urban-religious worldmaking through everyday practices. Rather than treating African urban-religious worlds as isolated or exceptional, we adopt a comparative approach to examine transregional connections and commonalities between urban-religious formations across and beyond the African continent. In doing so, we aim to develop new conceptual tools for understanding global processes of urban-religious transformation. This conference thus invites researchers to analyse urban-religious dynamics across and beyond Africa through comparative and processual lenses, thereby enriching both urban and religious studies alike.

Fifty people compiled diaries in which they described the sounds of their daily life in cities around the world. Of the 940 hours of observation there were 200 entries that referred to sounds of laughter, both live and recorded. The participants of the research always identified laughter sounds explicitly, unlike other urban sounds. The sound of laughter has a powerful culturalsymbolic superstructure. Learning how we use laughter, what we hear and how we react when someone laughs can help us to understand the key processes taking place in the urban space today. Laughter can at once attract and repel, signal danger and relieve social tension. It can lead equally to social agents' inclusion and exclusion in the situation of interaction, and can largely determine the form and extent of their inclusion. A citizen's interpretation of the sound of laughter depends directly on the media technologies which predominate in the urban environment and channel their cultural experience and sonic imagination.

In Rio de Janeiro’s periphery, Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) coaches have a rich history of using the sport for social inclusion and self-empowerment. However, they often overlook the underlying discriminatory structures and historical causes that necessitate their involvement. This inadvertently perpetuates the prevailing conservative social and symbolic norms of “bolsonarism” that dominate Rio. Based on fourteen months of ethnographic fieldwork, the chapter explores how BJJ coaches encourage their students to believe that success hinges on a personal work ethic and the embodiment of a virtuous subjectivity, unintentionally moralising the societal consequences of living in an unequal and discriminatory society and reinforcing Rio de Janeiro’s established social order.

Desde inicios de la década de 2010, en España ha surgido una escena de trap y música urbana cuyas dinámicas están profundamente influenciadas por procesos de mediatización. En el ámbito de la discusión, crítica y difusión musical, la figura tradicional del periodista o crítico vinculado a medios profesionales convive con una diversidad de nuevos agentes que operan en distintos formatos y plataformas. Este trabajo ofrece un mapeo exploratorio del ecosistema mediático de la escena urbana española, identificando los principales tipos de agentes involucrados, sus formatos de producción y sus orientaciones temáticas. Se analizan patrones generales y tendencias emergentes que reflejan la transformación de la crítica y la prescripción musical, antes institucionalizadas en el periodismo especializado. Estas transformaciones se interpretan como expresiones del proceso más amplio de mediatización que reconfigura el papel de los actores en la construcción del relato musical contemporáneo. Finalmente, se plantean líneas de investigación futuras para profundizar en el impacto de estos nuevos agentes en la circulación y legitimación de la música urbana en España.

O objetivo deste artigo é investigar processos de racionalização da força de trabalho e modernização dos modos de vida presentes na periferia de São Paulo baseados na experiência da vida sem salário. Para isso, estabelece como premissa que as ocupações não assalariadas estão no cerne do modo de vida popular, em que o anseio por autonomia é sua principal característica; junto dele, sobrevivem valores e costumes tradicionais. Por sua vez, o empreendedorismo como discurso de alcance global, ao mesmo tempo que remete ao individualismo presente nesses modos de vida, carrega, através dos negócios de impacto social, uma enfática iniciativa de modernização voltada a jovens em busca de ascensão e prestígio social, mas também para os mais velhos, como renovada esperança de uma vida mais satisfatória. Baseado em etnografia conduzida na periferia de São Paulo e entrevistas aprofundadas, o artigo conclui que o empreendedorismo, ao propor a racionalização das relações de trabalho, resulta tanto na ressignificação de saberes tradicionais quanto em sua reassimilação por meio da forma cultural do empreendedorismo popular. Ya casi nadie discute que Santiago de Cali presenta, desde hace algunas décadas, problemas importantes en su desenvolvimiento como centro urbano y regional de singular relevancia en la organización territorial del país. El presente ensayo pretende aportar a un debate sin madurar, el cual, refiriéndose en concreto al tema de la producción de vivienda de interés social, no lo desliga de un asunto de mayor complejidad, como es la producción de ciudad.

Background: In light of the main challenges recognized as being linked to the operationalization of the active aging concept at the policy level, the present study aimed to understand whether and to what extent Italian regional governments plan to deal with these challenges, i.e., implementing inter-sectoral and multilevel cooperation in a mainstreaming aging perspective; creating participatory processes by involving stakeholders in policymaking; and implementing the multidimensionality of active aging. Methods: Interviews with representatives of all Italian regions were conducted, and contributions by regional civil society stakeholders were collected. A framework analysis was conducted to identify and categorize policy objectives. Results: Policy plans to deal with the issues under study are in place in all Italian regions; however, differences across regions depend on two main factors: the presence of a relevant regulatory framework and its degree of implementation. Conclusion: policy recommendations for improving the current state concerned awareness-raising campaigns to strengthen the dialogue between regional governments and civil society stakeholders and the need for provisions issued at the national level to advance and harmonize regional policy tools in this area.

This study examines the English pronunciation proficiency of Pentecostal pastors during sermon delivery and its impact on youth engagement in Saki, Oyo State, Nigeria. With the increasing influence of Pentecostal churches among young congregants, effective communication plays a crucial role in sustaining interest and participation. The study focuses on 25 youths from selected Pentecostal churches in Saki town, exploring their perceptions of pastoral pronunciation accuracy, clarity, and its effect on their engagement during sermons. Data were collected through questionnaires. Findings reveal that pronunciation proficiency significantly influences youths' comprehension, interest, and retention of sermon messages. While some youths demonstrate tolerance for minor pronunciation lapses, frequent errors contribute to disengagement and reduced comprehension. The study underscores the importance of linguistic competence in religious discourse and suggests targeted training for pastors to enhance sermon delivery effectiveness.

O artigo apresenta a trajetória do NAU Cidades, grupo de pesquisa que integra o Laboratório do Núcleo de Antropologia Urbana da USP, destacando a sua importância como espaço de formação e troca entre pesquisadores, sob inspiração e orientação de José Guilherme Magnani. Os pesquisadores do NAU Cidades tomaram, desde sua criação como um grupo específico do laboratório, em 2010, a cidade de São Paulo como seu espaço privilegiado de pesquisa.Dessa maneira, com o intuito de evidenciar a sua diversidade de pesquisas, aborda-se de maneira mais detida as trajetórias de investigação de quatro de seus antigos coordenadores, cujas pesquisas sobre o contexto urbano foram realizadas a partir do diálogo que construíram durante suas coordenações do grupo. Dessa maneira, a seguir temos o trabalho de Alexandre Pereira sobre os “rolês” dos jovens na cidade de São Paulo; de Giancarlo Machado sobre a prática do skate de rua; de Lucas Moraes sobre as controvérsias em torno da implementação de ciclovias; e  de  Michel  Soares  acerca  das  vicissitudes  do  boxe  e  da  resistência  de  seus  praticantes  à  cidade neoliberal.

Este capítulo busca reflexionar sobre los procesos de destrucción, agotamiento y abandono tomando como punto de partida las dinámicas urbanas contemporáneas de des/composición. El foco analítico se centra, entonces, en las des/composiciones -escrito intencionalmente con barra oblicua o diagonal- en tanto busca evitar una perspectiva lineal y teleológica que pretendidamente iría desde lo compuesto hacia lo descompuesto. Interesa destacar, en cambio, las tensiones, las inestabilidades y las contradicciones involucradas en todo proceso de des/composición urbana, dando cuenta de los procesos de producción de lugar (placemaking) en contextos de destrucción, abandono y agotamiento.

The review Migraciones, Scopus Q1 Cultural Studies, has published its 62nd issue, a monograph entitled "Dinámicas y relaciones vecinales en contextos locales de diversidad sociocultural. De la Gran Recesión a la pospandemia”. This article presents this special issue, resulting from an open call made by the team of the PID2021-124346OB-I00 project, ParticipaBarrio, that aims to capture the current state of cohabitation in the new social context in Spain, the dynamics of inclusion and tension, as well as the relevant actors at the local level. This special issue includes studies of central working-class neighbourhoods undergoing complex processes of gentrification and touristification in Madrid, Valencia, and Bilbao, peripheral working-class neighbourhoods undergoing precarization and relegation in Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza, Tenerife, Bilbao, and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, as well as two agricultural municipalities, Carcaixent (Valencia) and Torre-Pacheco (Murcia). Additionally, several articles present comparative analyses between two or more neighbourhoods and/or municipalities. Beyond the characteristics of each local context, this range of typologies and urban processes, update our knowledge on neighbourhood dynamics in multicultural contexts in Spain, provide elements for public policies and establish, in several cases, new lines of research.

¿Qué posibilidades ofrece la cosmopolítica urbana para una antropología preocupada por las múltiples formas de vida en las ciudades? ¿Hasta qué punto pueden convivir árboles y humanos en un ecosistema citadino sin afectarse mutuamente? ¿Cómo entender las segundas naturalezas creadas por los ecosistemas metropolitanos? Este texto se acerca a las interrogantes anteriores a través de preguntas específicas: ¿Por qué algunos árboles son objetificados hasta convertirse en postes de basura? ¿Qué rol desempeñan en este proceso de desontologización por materialización las relaciones particulares con los árboles de ciudad y el mantenimiento local de las infraestructuras de recogida de basura, electricidad y agua? ¿Qué impacto regional ejercieron los megaproyectos de geotransformación del siglo XX? ¿Cómo se rompieron las relaciones de interdependencia entre árboles citadinos y humanos dentro de un ciclo histórico de larga duración, desde la Colonia hasta las ecologías políticas del socialismo bajo el Estado revolucionario? ¿Cuáles son los sentidos culturales que han mantenido la definición de los árboles como “recursos” o “reservas” naturales, en vez de agentes vivos no-humanos, con capacidades de negociaciones cosmopolíticas sobre su derecho al espacio?

Artykuł omawia najważniejsze założenia i tezy wybranej literatury naukowej dotyczącej postaci i działalności Mikołaja Kopernika wydanej w Polsce w 2023 r. Rok ten ogłoszono Rokiem Kopernika w związku z 550. rocznicą urodzin astronoma. Zaproponowany przegląd odnosi się tematycznie do wydarzeń naukowych odbywających się podczas zorganizowanego z tej okazji Światowego Kongresu Kopernikańskiego. W tekście zawarto refleksje odnośnie do obecnego stanu badań kopernikańskich i dalszych możliwości ich rozwoju.

Abstract: The article discusses the core tenets and propositions of selected scientific literature regarding the life and work of Nicolaus Copernicus published in Poland in 2023. This year was declared the Year of Copernicus in relation to the 550th anniversary of the astronomer’s birth. The proposed review is thematically linked to the scientific events taking place during the World Copernican Congress. The text includes reflections on the current state of Copernican studies and further possibilities for their development.

Most of the tribal communities all over India encountered some form of colonial expansion in their regions. They resisted such colonial intrusions. Arunachal Pradesh is a tribal state inhabited by different tribal communities. In spite of being located in the remote northeastern part of India, the people of Arunachal Pradesh have taken an active part in the anti-colonial resistance movements. In this context, the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh fought many wars against the British to defend their territory from the invading colonial state. In light of the recent efforts to study and document the history of tribal resistance movements as an integral part of India's freedom struggle, this article studies the resistance war fought by the Adis against the British during 1911-1912. It examines various aspects of the war focusing on the cause and course, leadership and organisation, war technology, tactics and symbols employed by the Adis.

Le désert du Sahara est le lieu aujourd’hui, disons, très important d’un immigrant africain, où passe la vie ; une vie dure plus que celle de la pénitence. De ce désert, l’homme définit son endurance autrement. C’est un endroit où beaucoup de passeurs ont dû et continuent à abandonner leurs clients immigrants à leur sort. J’appelle tout de suite cela : le business du désert « la mafia noire, mafia de couleur ». Le désert du Sahara n'est pas un lieu où se regroupent seulement les jeunes refoulés de pays du Maghreb qui n’ont pas pu tromper avec un peu d’argent la vigilance des réseaux illicites montés au cœur de ces pays : de l’Algérie ou de la Libye, etc. ; mais au contraire, c'est l’endroit qui abrite des jeunes qui ont donné quelque chose à ces réseaux mais se voient rebrousser chemin.

Em sua variedade, o funk é um estilo musical que constitui a paisagem sonora das periferias do Rio de Janeiro e o baile é seu epicentro. Além de promover deslocamentos e uma interação mais diversa entre habitantes de uma cidade bastante marcada pela desigualdade social e ra cial, o funk deixa também suas marcas na história e torna conhecidos amplamente arquivos que expressam o baile e a favela. Neste trabalho etnográfico, que conta com a colaboração dos DJs Iasmin Turbininha, Kim Quaresma e Markinho do Jaca, dos MCs MCs2 Juninho FSF e Cão, e dos empresários Jota e Sandro Pai; em interlocução com os autores Hermano Vianna, Micael Herschmann, Adriana Lopes, Adriana Facina, Jacques Rancière, Luigi Russolo, Pierre Schaeffer, John Cage, Julian Henriques, entre outros; abordo a diversid ade dos bailes funk como polos de produção do funk no Rio de Janeiro, a maneira com que se fazem visíveis amplamente hoje pelas novas mídias online e os aspectos relacionados as montagens e formas musicais que são produzidas nestas experiências no contexto do funk 150 bpm.

Universitetet i Lund har vaert en foregangsinstitusjon i norden når det gjelder middelalderarkeologi. I 2012 har det vaert drevet fast undervisning i Lund i denne fagdisiplinen i 50 år -til å begynne med bare til licenciatgraden. Den første laereplanen i middelalderarkeologi ble utformet i 1962. Et 50 års-jubileum kunne klart vaert bakgrunn for å utgi en fagbok om temaet. når boken "Medeltiden och arkeologin" ble utgitt alt i 2011, skyldes det imidlertid en annen markering, nemlig feiringen av professor Erik Cinthios 90 års dag. I den anledning ble det holdt et seminar i Lund 25.februar 2011, og innleggene på dette er blitt bearbeidet og samlet i denne lille boken. Erik Cinthio var den som bygde opp faget ved Lunds universitet. han var den første som drev fast undervisning i middelalderarkeologi i Lund. fra 1957 var han docent i "konsthistoria med medeltidsarkeologi", fra 1969 professor. Men først i 1985 ble professoratet omgjort til et ordinaert professorat, ikke knyttet til Cinthio som person. Lund har vaert et kraftsentrum for middelalderarkeologi i norden med studenter fra andre nordiske land. Tidsskriftet META spilte i mange år en viktig rolle i diskusjonen om fagets innhold og retning. Dessverre måtte det slutte i 2006. Det er fortsatt savnet. Det har kommet viktige doktorgrads avhandlinger og bøker av enkeltpersoner tilknyttet institusjonen i Lund og også kommet ut flere viktige bøker med mange forfattere. her kan saerlig nevnes "Triangulering. historisk arkeologi vidgar fälten" fra 2009. I 2005 skiftet faget navn, fra "medeltidsarkeologi" til "historisk arkeologi". Dette må sees på bakgrunn av utvidelsen av grensene både i tid og rom for hva som er blitt regnet som interessant å utforske med arkeologiske metoder. Et tidlig innlegg i denne debatten er Anders Andréns bok fra 1997 "Mellan ting och text" der han diskuterer forholdet mellom bruken av skriftlige kilder og fysiske levninger uten tekst i forskningen, ikke bare på skandinavisk middelalder, men også på samfunn med skriftspråk langt bakover i tid og i andre verdensdeler. nettopp avgrensninger og inndelinger av arkeologisk virksomhet i temaer er et av de sentrale emnene i Medeltiden och arkeologin. The article traces the history of urban anthropology in Italy, resuming a three-stage division proposed by Fulvia D'Aloisio in 2011: propaedeutic phase (between the 1950s and the 1980s), phase of definition and acquisition of visibility (between the 1980s and the mid-1990s), phase of consolidation, systematization, institutional recognition and the opening of new research strands (between the mid-1990s and the first decade of the 2000s). To these phases is added a fourth, concerning the most recent developments in anthropological investigation of cities. Subsequently, opening up the reflection to an interdisciplinary perspective -embracing the field of critical urban studies -the article defines the research object of 'urban transformations', connecting it to the broader analysis of social change. Urban dimension and social change will emerge as two interconnected elements, which assume contextually and historically determined peculiar characteristics.

The article prompts readers to reflect on the discrepancy between the study of migration and its object. The "science of migration", Palidda writes, fails to account adequately for the lived experience of migrant women and men; this is due to the discourse it produces, and the practices activated by those who benefit from the phenomenon of migration. This discourse is based on knowledges, assumptions, theorems, schemes, and paradigms that make up the rhetorical scenario of migration, with its positive and negative categories and the definitions of all these aspects. The rhetoric of the "science of migration" therefore serves the ends of both the opponents and supporters of migration. This dualism shapes the social imaginary of the public opinion, substantially based on the fear of an invasion that is being exploited to deny fundamental human rights to migrant women and men and to cover over their subordinate conditions as (new) slaves within the neoliberal order. Salvatore Palidda, Born in Sicily, after a period as union and political militant, in the early 70s I was also a worker in Germany and then in France; since 1981 I have studied and started my academic career at EHESS of Paris and as foreign researcher of the French CNRS. I returned to Italy in 1992 first at the EUI, then in Milan and finally in Genoa as professor of sociology and other subjects until December 2018. Th main fields of my critical research are military and police affairs, migrations, criminality and the consequences of the liberal drift at local and global scale. I have published over 70 texts in different languages and over 80 in Italian.

This project explores urban borderlands as a key analytical concept for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of urbanism, anthropology, and criminology. By examining their complex socio-spatial configurations, it investigates the physical, social, and symbolic dimensions that define these spaces. While border and borderlands have become central in studies on migration, nationalism, and security, this project shifts the focus to their urban manifestations—spaces of friction, encounter, and negotiation that transcend national frontiers.

Recognizing urban borderlands as dynamic and transactional spaces, the research examines how boundaries are lived and perceived, rather than merely drawn. It addresses processes of exclusion, marginalization, and precarization, while also considering these spaces as potential laboratories for new forms of urban coexistence. By integrating spatial, social, and perceptual dimensions, the project fosters dialogue between disciplines and engages local stakeholders—such as NGOs and activist collectives—whose experiential knowledge enriches academic frameworks.

Ultimately, the project aims to develop bottom-up, participatory proposals for urban interventions, bridging research and practice to inform policymakers and promote inclusive, context-sensitive urban strategies.

Las plataformas de streaming proponen formas de escucha musical por medio del diseño de sus interfaces de usuario, que son el primer lugar de encuentro entre el oyente y el contenido sonoro. Este artículo propone observar y categorizar el proceso de mediatización de la música en YouTube, plataforma que, si bien ofrece un servicio de almacenamiento de contenido audiovisual, se está utilizando para la circulación y reproducción de música (Márquez, 2017). La metodología aplicada para este estudio consiste en la aplicación de un modelo de análisis semiótico que consiste en cuatro fases de observación: 1) materialidad (diseño), 2) retórica (contenido), 3) temática (mensaje) y 4) enunciación (recepción). El estudio de caso permite afirmar que la mediatización de lo musical, identificada en la interfaz de usuario ocurre en tres aspectos: la representación visual de la música, la participación del usuario en la programación musical y la apropiación del contenido.

This study critically examines the status of flea markets within the urban context, focusing specifically around the Itfaiye Square, a flea market, in Ankara. The analysis is structured around three key themes: first, the impact of the current economic conditions on flea markets, particularly how they sustain trade activities through online sales platforms; second, the challenges faced by flea market vendors due to the influx of refugees, a result of increased foreign migration to Turkey over the last 15 years; and third, the pressure of urban redevelopment process that have pushed flea market vendors to the outskirts of the city, and the role of both national and local governments in this process. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 40 shopkeepers from different sectors within the flea market, ranging from industrial kitchenware sellers to scrap metal dealers, and from carpet sellers to furniture sellers. Additionally, to broaden the scope of the study, 9 interviews were conducted in the Önder neighborhood, which is densely populated by refugees, and in the Dışkapı district, where flea market vendors have been forcibly relocated due to urban renewal projects. This research, which has evolved into a form of "A Flea Market Monograph in Ankara," is of critical importance for articulating the multi-dimensional challenges faced by flea market vendors at both micro and macro levels. In conclusion, the results of the study will contribute to the literature and may provide guidance to policy makers on urban redevelopment and migration issues.

This study seeks to understand and analyze the ways Congolese (Democratic Republic of Congo) forced migrants' 'permanent transit' condition affects their relations with the Mozambicans living in Maputo. To do this, the study will: (i) document the Congolese forced migrants livelihoods strategies while in Maputo city; (ii) examine the social, cultural, economic and political relations between the Congolese forced migrants and the Mozambicans living in Maputo city, and (iii) analyze the impact of the Congolese forced migrants 'permanent transit' condition on their relations with the Mozambicans living in Maputo city. Due to their length of stay in Mozambique, the study expected to observe strong relationships between the Congolese forced migrants and the Mozambicans living in Maputo city: a certain level of integration, assimilation, and attachment to social, cultural, political, and economic ways of living of the Mozambicans living in Maputo city. However, the argument of this study is that the 'permanent transit' condition of the Congolese forced migrants living in Maputo city weakens their relationship with the Mozambicans living in the same space. Because of this 'permanent transit' condition, Congolese forced migrants tend not to get attached to Mozambicans through marriage and children, they often do not get a job and are dependent on remittances from relatives in the country of origin and tend to engage in social and cultural activities with other Congolese rather than with Mozambicans. This study employed a multi-methods approach, including the use of questionnaires, openended interviews, and written sources. The study is valuable for two main reasons. Firstly, it has generated systematically analyzable data on self-settled urban forced migrants in Maputo city. Secondly, it reveals the impact of the forced migrants' 'permanent transit' condition on their relations with host countries and peoples.
