Todays, there are various of systems that requires high-level security methods. Due to the sophisticated methods of breaking the traditional security methods. One of the most advanced methods nowadays is handprint validation. Which is based on the features of the palm in hands. These feature could include the lines, valleys, hand texture, and other features. In this work, a survey of the latest works that are used for palm print detection and recognition

Palmprint is widely used in personal identification and authentication for a precise and robust recognition. Palmprint recognition has been reconnoitered over numerous years. During this instance of time, several different glitches related to palmprint recognition have been addressed. Furthermost of the studies has been done in palmprint recognition due to its stability, reliability and exclusivity. Furthermore it has been used for law enforcement, civil applications and access control applications. Researchers have proposed a variety of palmprint preprocessing, feature extraction and matching approaches. This paper deliberates about the number of investigation works introduced to overcome the difficulties confronted in each stage of palm print verification. Our study on palm print recognition focuses on verifying the palm print in different types of schemes involved.

A biometric system is essentially a pattern recognition system which makes a personal identification by determining the authenticity of a specific physiological or behavioral characteristic possessed by the user. Biometric has gained much attention in the security world recently. Many types of personal identification systems have been developed and palmprint verification is one of the emerging technologies because of its stable, unique characteristics, low-price capture device, fast execution speed also it provides a large area for feature extraction. Palmprint recognizes a person based on the principal lines, wrinkles and ridges on the surface of the palm. The recognition process consists of image acquisition, preprocessing, feature extraction, matching and result. The different techniques are used for the preprocessing, feature extraction, classifiers. The methods discussed are for the online palmprint recognition.

Biometrics is defined as the exceptional or individual physical properties or attributes of human body. These attributes are used to recognize each human. Any details of the person body which differs from another person to the other is used as unique biometrics data which serve to that’s person’s unique ID. Palmprint recognition being one of the important aspects of biometric technology. These palmprint recognition serves into four stages, palmprint image acquisition, preprocessing, feature extraction and matching. The major approach for palmprint recognition is to extract feature vector from each individual palm and to perform matching based on some distance metrics. This paper present a detailed review on palmprint recognition approaches.
— A palm print refers to an image acquired of the palm region of the hand. Palm print image enhancement is required for better feature extraction. To extract fine features enhancement is required. Fine features increase the accuracy of palm print recognition system. The main purpose of this review paper is to study and compare various palm print recognition techniques in terms of performance, accuracy, overheads and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR).
Multibiometrics can provide higher identification accuracy than single biometrics, so it is more suitable for some real-world personal identification applications that need high-standard security. Among various biometrics technologies, palm print identification has received much attention because of its good performance. Biometric based authentication and recognition, the science of using physical or behavioral characteristic for identity verification is becoming a security principal in many areas. Their utilization as an authentication and recognition technology has become widespread from door access to electronic commerce. Security is a very important aspect in the biometric system itself. This paper provides an overview of palm print research, describing in capture devices, preprocessing, verification, palm print-related fusion and measures of security and for protecting users' privacy and palm print system, a sectional explaining the biometric recognition process.

Physiological biometrics is one of the attractive fields for researchers due to its unique and stable features. One of these physical biometrics is "Palm Print". This new approach is used in personal recognition because of the powerful information that can be extracted from the palm print. The characteristics that are extracted keeping the rules of palmprint feature extraction are very important. In spite of the huge work done in this approach, the results recorded about the palm print are still uncompleted and the techniques that used in palm print feature extraction used in recognition are still continually modified. In this paper, we present a detailed background review for many techniques and methods that are used to extract features from palm print with many various methods and procedures. A comparison between these techniques is also presented.

Palm print is a widely accepted biometric trait for authentication due to clarity in discriminating the features of palm such as large distance among non-class samples as well as minimum distance between intra-class samples. Area beneath the finger and enclosed by heart line is called as triradiated region or inter-distal region. This specific area of palm contains features which are unique and universally discriminating. In this paper we present a simple method to extract ridges in tri-radiated section also called as inter-distal region of palm. Different orientation of ridges extracted from inter-distal region appears as a fine texture. We use these fine textures for validating samples of Palm print. Reduction in size of the image, it's optimal storage, retrieval, computational efficiency without compromising the fine features of the palm sample and use of simple discriminating features to validate a given palm sample has motivated this paper. The results confirm the proposed methodology in this paper is most efficient one.
Human palm print is a wide spreading biometric trait that has been used to detect an individual’s identity Palm print images of 94 individuals have been acquired using Scanning techniques. Images acquired by this technique are used for the identification of an individual by extracting principle lines as a feature of palm print images using Matlab. In this study an algorithm is proposed to compute and filter the first three principle lines of palm print images using Matlab that have been acquired using scanning technique. These characteristic features are used to estimate the identity of an individual. Experiments show that the principle lines from the palm prints can be a good source for any biometric security system.
⎯ Palmprint recognition has been investigated over ten years. During this period, many different problems related to palmprint recognition have been addressed. This paper provides an overview of current palmprint research, describing in particular capture devices, preprocessing, verification algorithms, palmprint-related fusion, algorithms especially designed for real-time palmprint identification in large databases and measures for protecting palmprint systems and users' privacy. Finally, some suggestion is offered.
