Este estudio presenta una intervencion de caso unico en una paciente con diagnostico de trastorno de estres postraumatico y de depresion mayor asociada. Para el tratamiento se implementaron terapias con evidencia empirica. En la fase de evaluacion se empleo la escala de trauma de Davidson, el inventario de depresion de Beck y una entrevista clinica. Despues de proponer los objetivos terapeuticos, se aplico la terapia de exposicion prolongada y la terapia cognitiva conductual. La intervencion se desarrollo durante 19 sesiones de tratamiento y se utilizaron tecnicas de psicoeducacion, exposicion, reestructuracion cognitiva, respiracion y orientacion vocacional. Finalizado el tratamiento se redujeron considerablemente los sintomas ansiosos y depresivos, y se presento una reincorporacion a ambientes sociales y educativos de la paciente. Between the racial reckoning of 2020 and wider spread policy development that is explicitly homophobic and transphobic, there have been consistent and resurgent calls for clinicians to address aspects of power and privilege in psychotherapy. This is especially important in a field that continues to be largely White, cisgender, and heterosexual (not to mention abled, socioeconomically privileged, and privileged in many other aspects of human diversity). However, too few models for how to accomplish this in actual practice are offered in the literature. Further, while there is little guidance for clinicians on how to address power, privilege, and intersectionality in the therapy room, there is even less direction for how to train those learning to be clinicians to do this from the start. The purpose of this article is to translate existing knowledge into a framework for supervisors to guide trainees' application in psychotherapy. The article provides an overview of social location, including an analytic framework, as well as a set of practical steps for supervisors and trainees.

 Global advances in access to psychological therapies have created opportunities to understand how counselling and psychotherapy promote dignity, recovery, and well-being. This paper examines power dynamics within therapeutic relationships, identifying professional, bureaucratic, transferential, and socio-political domains that impact client agency and dignity. Analysis of transference and countertransference reveals their dual potential to enhance or undermine client empowerment. Cultural competence and cultural humility are underscored as essential for inclusive therapy. While maintaining dignity is crucial in therapy and is also an essential consequence of therapy. We propose that framing dignity and self-worth as inherent qualities and making this the explicit focus of therapy can accelerate clinical outcomes. Recommendations for practice include enhanced supervision focused on power dynamics and culturally attuned, collaborative therapy to strengthen client resilience and autonomy. Integrating dignity-centred approaches is essential for fostering trust and sustainable well-being in therapeutic settings. 

Depression is a common mental disorder, characterized by sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, feelings of tiredness, and poor concentration.The present study has tried to explore depression among female adolescents and also tried to explore the effectiveness of Self Management Therapy (SMT) in reducing depressive thoughts among female adolescents. It made use of purposive sampling in selecting 100 female adolescents. The sample responded to the valid and reliable instrument. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) Construct by Beck, et al (1961) was used to measure Depression of the adolescents. The design which was used to conceptualize the study and analyze the data was pretest-posttest design. Results of the present study have revealed that SMT has significantly decreased the level of depression among female adolescents. Keywords:-SMT, Depression and Female Adolescents. Cultural Dissonance -  Based on my past 50 years of research from my personal global and cross-cultural journey and by the efficient way of handling five (5) languages where I have noticed a vast multi-cultural discrepancy with this primary colossal ignorance with the West by not knowing the value of the Chinese with conscience, a language coming out of hearts and not via the external influences of the "god" based Abrahamic culture --The West had their barbaric global conquest but had ignored this wisdom/heart-based culture and civilization of ours 🙂 Since 1492,  the Europeans had not the full awareness of the word -Conscience, while they have literally “religionized” all of the Chinese value systems and had turned them to become a religion, they had “religionized” the entire value system of the Chinese which none of them was a god or “diety” based.  It is all about the self and other cultivation based on the innermost value and moral values of the works of Confucius, Laozi, and Buddha as the three principal value systems. By the Europeans adding the “ism” to them, they became Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism.  This is one of the significant “cultural ignorance” created by the West.  This is the good demarcation separating “cultures” from the unique “civilization” of the Chinese. El propósito de este artículo está basado en una presentación de diferentes concepciones teóricas, que están en la base del estudio del estrés familiar, su desarrollo histórico. Destacando las contribuciones en el avance del campo de conocimientos y comentando algunas limitaciones en el modo de recoger información, manteniendo la perspectiva individual a través de la percepción de algunos miembros de la familia. En los postulados teóricos del artículo se enfatiza en la interacción de variables individuales y familiares. Para encontrar una explicación a la acción que ejerce lo individual en la familia, se profundizó en el enfoque sistémico y en la teoría de los grupos. Drawing on Jacques Lacan, Zen Buddhism, Hegel, the teachings of Jesus, and personal experience, this paper explores how we catalyze change in others by meeting them not at the superficial level of their words, but by revealing the place from which their speech comes and to what it might be addressed.

Zusammenfassung Diversität polarisiert. Anhand (inter-)nationaler Forschung wird hier gezeigt, dass Organisationen und Individuen von Diversität profitieren, aber nur wenige diversitätskompetent sind, weshalb es eine intersektionale Perspektive braucht. Da die Rolle von Diskriminierung und Intersektionalität für Coachings wenig beforscht ist, werden therapeutische Ansätze als Grundlage von Coachingmethoden für diese Kompetenzentwicklung vorgestellt. Nach dem kritischen Einführen basaler kultureller Kompetenzen wird ein evidenz-und theoriebasiertes Modell für intersektionalitätsinformierte therapeutische Kompetenzen für den deutschsprachigen Raum mit praktischen Implikationen für Coaching diskutiert.

Mary Thomas examines the 'Artist's Fear of the Psychotherapist', which she understands to be based on the artist's belief that it is suffering that feeds their creativity. She points out the reality that for many people, including artists, psychotherapy can facilitate and nurture the creative capacity. David Black's chapter 'Religions in Relation to Values' argues succinctly for a change of attitude within psychoanalytic thinking which is based fundamentally on Freud's sceptical attitude to religion. He argues that transgenerational internal religious objects, such as rituals, beliefs and values, have an impact both for good and for bad. He also suggests that Freud had a number of friendships with men he admired whose thinking was influenced by religious values. The final paper is by Lesley Murdin who writes about 'Time and Rites of Passage', with reference to the difference between the temporal nature of the conscious mind as compared with the unconscious, which does not recognize temporality and so has no sense of past, present or future. She shows how social events around significant life changes help our deep sense of loneliness, how marking change connects individual development to the wider social context. She argues that the 'rituals' at the beginning and end of psychotherapy help the individual to recognize that a process is taking place that assists an individual in moving from one state of mind to another. In particular, she notes the change of pace as the client enters the consulting room, moving from the external world of daily life to the internal world of quiet reflection and the ending, when they walk back into the outside world. Like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. This is an interesting collection of papers which contributes thoughtfully to many of the essential issues in the psychotherapeutic encounter and raises questions for further reflection. Whilst I found many of the chapters thought provoking, my general sense of the book was of a rather eclectic mix of humanistic and existential approaches where at times I would have welcomed more substantially developed psychodynamic understanding. I think, however, that it will be of real interest to trainees and newly qualified psychotherapists who are developing their identity in the consulting room.

Practitioners interested in the process of helping people change are confronted today with such a burgeoning array of perspectives, theories, and treatment modalities that even the most diligent can feel overwhelmed by the number of choices. This plethora of approaches calls into question whether there is anything that can tie them together. Asking if the psychoanalytic field is destined to be splintered into fragments that defy cohesion or if it is possible to generate a way of thinking and working that is more inclusive, this paper takes a historical and integrationist approach, grounded in a clinical focus on mental organization and Leo Rangell's total composite theory. It discusses trends in the development of psychoanalysis and argues for the importance of integration of the findings from neuropsychology and neuropsychoanalysis into psychoanalytic clinical work.

Dieses Buch liest sich zum einen wie ein Geschichtsbuch der Psychologie und Psychotherapie in den 70er und 80er Jahren und der zeitkritischen Diskurse, die damals geführt wurden und denen sich damals keiner entziehen konnte. Es zeigt zum anderen, wie brandaktuell diese Diskurse noch heute sind und vertieft geführt werden müssen. Zunehmend hat sich die Psychologie, um ihrem Anspruch, eine Naturwissenschaft zu sein, gerecht zu werden, vom Erforschen des psychischen, intersubjektiven Erlebens, eingebettet in eine Gemeinschaft und Kultur, abgewendet zu einer Disziplin, die individualistische, biologistische und pharmakologische Thesen mit objektivierbaren Messmethoden untersucht. Eine solche Psychologie wird seelenlos. Zu Recht wird beklagt, dass heutzutage zumeist keine Philosophie, Erkenntnistheorie und Wissenschaftstheorie mehr vermittelt wird, dafür ganz viel Statistik -obwohl Psychologie per se eine Geistes-und Gesellschaftswissenschaft ist! Despite the rising trend of cancer prevalence and increase in family caregiving, little attention has been paid to the efficacy of psychosocial interventions among Asian caregiver samples, particularly support groups, given the benefits that have been shown in studies on Western populations. This trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a pilot 4-week group psychotherapy for Singaporean family caregivers of patients receiving outpatient care. Facilitated by a clinical psychologist, this intervention is primarily based on the brief integrative psychological therapy with a supportive-expressive intent. Participants will be recruited while they are accompanying their care recipients for outpatient consultations. This study examined the causes and consequences of academic stress among final year students of University of Ibadan. Descriptive survey design was adopted and purposive sampling technique was employed to select two hundred final year students at the University of Ibadan. The samples were administered with a researchers-developed instrument tagged: "Questionnaire on Causes and Consequences of Academic stress (QCCAS)". The findings of the study revealed that too many assignments, competitions with other students, and poor relationships with lecturers were among the major causes of academic stress, while low academic performance, complain of depression and school dropout were part of the major consequences of academic stress among final year students of University of Ibadan. Further findings revealed no significant difference in the causes of academic stress among final year students of University of Ibadan based on age while significant difference was revealed based on religion; there were no significant differences in the consequences of academic stress among final year students of University of Ibadan based age and religion. It was therefore, recommended that the school authority, lecturers and guidance counsellors should work hand in hand in creating good interpersonal relationships and in ensuring conducive environment for effective learning on the part of the students. Also, school counsellors should provide adequate counselling to students on the causes and consequences of academic stress through information and orientation services in school.

This study examined inappropriate behaviours in public and private primary schools across Mainland Area of Lagos State, Nigeria using a survey research design. The population of the study comprised all the pupils in both public and primary schools in Mainland Area of Lagos State. Through random sampling from randomly selected schools in Lagos Mainland, 53 male and 95 female respondents were respectively selected for the study. An Instrument called Childhood Misbehaviour Inventory was constructed and validated to obtain the data used for the study. Research questions were answered using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) while the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using t-test statistics. It was found that inappropriate behaviours in mainland schools among pupils are bullying, lateness, not paying attention in the class, hatred for teachers, noise making, truancy, walking out of the class during lesson without permission, and sleeping in class. The study also revealed that these inappropriate behaviours in primary schools are as a result of lateness to class by teachers, child abuse, and poor parenting styles, peer influence, sibling rivalry, poverty, unconducive environment and poor parental care among others. The study recommends that counselling should be introduced and made compulsory for all primary schools in Lagos Mainland as a panacea to incessant cases of inappropriate behaviours among the pupils in primary schools so as to catch them young to exhibit appropriate behaviours.

This two-paper dissertation reports on the findings of a qualitative study that was designed to capture the clinical dynamics that emerge when a therapist becomes pregnant during treatment. , a psychoanalyst known for her research on pregnancy as well as her own psychoanalytic theory of mothering orientation, has outlined procreative mysteries, or anxieties, that are deemed universal by pregnant women. She defines them as anxieties about formation, containment, preservation, transformation, and separation. Pregnant therapists are not immune to these anxieties, and in some instances, may even feel them to a greater degree. While there have been some empirical studies that have captured the pregnant therapist's perspective, it is a sparse amount in comparison to the vast number of women therapists who become pregnant, and there have been to my knowledge no studies that have actually interviewed clients of pregnant therapists. This study seeks to begin to redress that crucial missing perspective by interviewing the clients of pregnant therapists, as well as first-time, formerly pregnant therapists. Using both object relations and intersubjective theories as a conceptual lens, this two-paper dissertation aims to uncover some of the processes of conscious and unconscious communication that comprise the therapeutic dyad when the therapist is pregnant. Additionally, it seeks to offer guidelines on what both practitioners and supervisors might expect when a therapist becomes pregnant during treatment. The first paper will look at the coded results of this qualitative study and its emergent themes. The second paper will expand on the findings and look at particular object relations and intersubjective theories that can be important in understanding and working with this particular "intrusion in the analytic space" ). In the second paper, I will introduce a concept I am calling "the fourth" which represents not only the therapist's pregnancy in a literal sense, but also the figurative, symbolic, conscious and unconscious meaning which the therapist and patient each attach to the pregnancy as well as new motherhood, and their co-created meaning. The earth, water, air and fire are the most essential components of the universe in which the interminable process of vitality is ensured through the incitement of the magnetic attraction and interaction between the elements. Overbearing impact of the elements is not only observed in the outside physical world but also deeply felt in the inner world of human imaginations, feelings, and emotions. The medieval poet Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi's (1207-1273) The Masnavi opens an ample space for the elements, directing human life as well as cosmic natural events. Each element, in this respect, is embedded with a spiritual energy, called by Rumi as love, stemming from God and circulating in the universe, sparkling life and vibrancy among human and nonhuman beings. Rumi's notion of vital universe with its intentionally active elements strongly resonates with the theoretical views of elemental ecocriticism which insists on the agency and intentionality of the elements that matter significantly both in human life and the external material world. The aim of this study, accordingly, is to examine the elements in Rumi's The Masnavi under the critical lens of elemental ecocriticism to disclose Rumi's elemental understanding of the universe according to which the whole universe is comprised of the elements which are conceptualized as living entities and efficiently articulate forces playing actively dominant roles in the ongoing materialization of the universe.

The aim of this article is to describe the therapeutic effects of the epistolary form proposed as writing instructions to women who were victims of sexual abuse, within the context of a one-to-one art therapy/psychotherapy mediated by writing, by drawing on the case of a young woman. Thanks to this subjectivity and bonding work involved in the writing of these imaginary letters, the patient was able to restore movement, creativity and continuity right where time, pleasure and the topic of meaning had come to a halt, were lost and frozen by the trauma’s intrusion. The epistolary form has been shown to have an encompassing and stimulating therapeutic function in supporting victims of sexual abuse and, from there, in treating the traumatic intrusion. The poetic letter be considered as a lyrical envelope enabling communication between two parts of the self : the one that can express distress, and the one that offers to care at the same time.

Conversation AI such as ChatGPT is a disruptive technology which will alter the educational landscape. The present article used a self-study research design to evaluate commonly used curriculum-based assessments (CBAs) by counselor educators in light of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence-based chatbots. The authors propose that these assessments should be modified to better support student learning in the context of AI technology. Moreover, the authors provide recommendations for counselor educators on how to integrate AI into their teaching practices to improve counselors-in-training classroom engagement and learning outcomes. Authors also discussed the current limitations of ChatGPT and other AI-based chatbots.

Accumulating psychedelic research has demonstrated a potential for improving mental health and wellbeing, yet studies in the context of eating disorders (EDs) are limited. This study aims to explore the subjective effects of psychedelic experiences to gain insight into the benefits and risks for people with EDs. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight adults aged 25-54 (mean age = 36.9), reporting to have had experiences with EDs and psychedelics in both naturalistic and clinical settings. Participants had multiple diagnoses and suffered chronic EDs, (mean age of onset = 13), diagnosed (N = 7) and undiagnosed (N = 1). Reports of cessation or the reduction of ED symptoms were unanimous and long-lasting for seven, with two participants reporting recovery attributed to psychedelic use. Two participants reported relapsing, attributed to environmental factors in the months following. Thematic analysis resulted in two superordinate themes, each comprising three subordinate themes. The first superordinate theme, 'Exploring' via the 'gateway to healing', illustrates mental, emotional, and transcendental elements of psychedelic experiences. The second superordinate theme, 'Transformation' and being 'able to do the work', illustrates cognitive and behavioural outcomes, with retrospective safety perceptions. These findings may provide more in-depth information on what benefits and experiences people with EDs can obtain from the use of psychedelic drugs and may inform more robust investigations of psychedelic-assisted therapy for the treatment of EDs.

Провести анализ результатов применения в практике врача-кардиолога опросника Европейского общества кардиологов (ЕОК) по оценке комплекса неконвенционных факторов риска у больных с ишемической болезнью сердца (ИБС) в условиях стационара. Материал и методы. У 310 больных с ИБС (средний возраст 59,6±8,8 лет, мужчин 62,2%), подписавших информированное согласие на участие в исследовании, проведено общеклиническое обследование с выявлением конвенционных факторов риска, анализом достижения стандартных целей лечения. Врачом-кардиологом выполнена двухэтапная оценка неконвенционных факторов риска (НФР) с применением анкеты Европейского общества кардиологов (ЕОК) и валидизированных опросников (DS-14, шкалы депрессии и тревоги Гамильтона) для клинической идентификации тревоги, депрессии, типа личности Д. Результаты. У госпитализированных пациентов отмечались преимущественно тяжелые клинические проявления заболевания: острый коронарный синдром (51,6%), снижение фракции выброса менее 50% по данным эхокардио графии (40%), острый инфаркт миокарда в анамнезе (29%), а также высокая частота конвенционных факторов риска: артериальной гипертензии (75,8%), дислипидемии (75,1%), ожирения (40,9%). Большинство респондентов не достигли стандартных целей лечения: 13,8% больных курили, 30,9% не соблюдали гиполипидемическую диету, 81,3% не употребляли рыбу в рекомендуемом количестве, 51,6% не выполняли режим двигательной активности, 40,6% не достигли целевого уровня артериального давления, 59,3% -целевого уровня липопротеидов низкой плотности, 59,8% -целевого уровня индекса массы тела и нуждались в оценке факторов, препятствующих эффективному лечению. В комплексе выявленных НФР превалировали враждебность (30,9%), тип личности Д (25,4%), низкий социально-экономический статус (12,2%) и тревога (10%), реже встречались депрессия (5,1%), стресс на работе и в семейной жизни (4,5%) и социальная изоляция (1,6%). Заключение. Результаты по частоте встречаемости НФР согласуются с данными, полученными зарубежными исследователями. Применение опросника ЕОК позволяет ориентировать практикующих врачей на выявление НФР, дополнить данные об индивидуальном профиле риска и расширить спектр рекомендаций по лечению и профилактике у больных с ИБС.

Problem statement: Problem behavior theory describes both protective factors and risk factors to explain adolescent problem behaviors, such as delinquency, alcohol use, and reckless driving. The theory holds that problem behaviors involving risky behavior are used by adolescents as a means to gain peer acceptance and respect. Problem behaviors constitute a significant part of gaining independence from the family, coping with stress, and eliminating or reducing negativity and pressure. Purpose of study: This study was designed to examine the risk factors related to personality systems, the risk factors related to perceived environment, and the effects of risk-taking variables on problem behavior in a structural model. Methods: This study constitutes causal comparative research in which the effects of personal system risk factors, perceived environment risk factors, and risk-taking variables on problem behavior are analyzed and performed using correlation research. Data have been collected during research sessions with different age groups, and cross-sectional research methods have been used. The dependent variable of the research is problem behavior, while the independent variables are personality characteristics and environment. The mediating variable is risk-taking. The study sample consists of adolescents aged 15 to 18 in Turkey. With purposive sampling, 2834 adolescents with different socioeconomic and cultural characteristics from three Turkish cities (i.e., Ankara, Sivas, and Muğla) were selected. Both a personal data form and the Adolescent Health and Development Questionnaire (AHDQ) were used. All of us here are drawn together by our fascination with the lucid dream experience. We believe that it has the potential to enhance personal development and perhaps to increase our scientific understanding of dreams and consciousness. Without intentional induction procedures, lucid dreams tend to occur spontaneously but sporadically. An individual experiencing a lucid dream for the first time will often become intrigued by it, and attempt to increase the frequency of these experiences by trial and error. These hit and miss methods do not often achieve their goal consistently. If we are to make progress toward scientific and personal understanding of lucid dreams, we must first develop techniques to induce the lucid dream experience reliably. This is the most important task currently facing lucid dream research.

Locus of Control (LOC) refers to people's beliefs concerning personal control, which is viewed as a continuum ranging from internality to externality. Internal LOC consists in an internal attribution of control over life events whereas external LOC implicates relying on others or chance. Control beliefs are involved in setting expectancies toward outcomes in many contexts, including mental health. In this review, we explore the complex interplay between mental health disorders and LOC orientation. LOC orientation is crucial in the development and clinical course of anxiety, mood and psychotic disorders. Treatment seeking and adherence to therapies have been related to LOC orientation. Moreover, LOC has been implicated in shaping posttraumatic responses. Although evidence are still scarce, LOC seems to have a role in determining mental health of migrants and minorities.

En el presente trabajo hemos querido definir la hipnosis desde la perspectiva psicobiológica. Entendemos por hipnosis un particular estado global, donde el sujeto manifiesta cambios tanto en los procesos subjetivosestado de conciencia -así como en otros aspectos como los procesos viscerales, automáticos y comportamentales producidos por la actividad integrativa del sistema neuroendocrino (SNE). Aquí pretendemos esbozar una definición preliminar de lo que hemos entendido por la hipnosis como estado y presentamos una revisión acerca de algunos estudios neurocientíficos sobre los fenómenos hipnóticos. Examinaremos cinco fenómenos que son de interés general: el dolor, la modulación perceptual, la evocación emocional, el tratamiento de fobias, y el manejo del conflicto atencional en hipnosis. Estos ámbitos son relevantes pues pueden traer un vasto desarrollo tanto en investigación básica como aplicada a la psicoterapia. La investigación en fobias ha demostrado que la hipnosis en pacientes altamente hipnotizables permite reestablecer el equilibrio simpático-vagal. Las investigaciones con imágenes cerebrales proponen un modelo de cambio atencional, con participación de la corteza cingulada anterior. Estudios de control emocional han establecido los cambios en los potenciales evocados en diferentes regiones corticales. Las posibilidades de la hipnosis para inhibir y evocar emociones frente a eventos virtuales específicos son de enorme relevancia en el uso terapéutico. Los estudios atencionales han demostrado que bajo sugestiones específicas, la actividad de la corteza cingulada anterior y de las cortezas visuales se reduce de manera significativa en sujetos altamente hipnotizables, lo que se correlaciona con un menor conflicto atencional al realizar el paradigma de Stroop. Todos estos hallazgos aún en desarrollo, muestran que la hipnosis es un campo fértil para la investigación básica y clínica.

Couple and family therapy has well-established benefits. Although the majority of clients benefit, some worsen, some show no positive change, and some drop out early. This suggests that existing treatment modalities require further advancement. One promising avenue to achieve advancement involves instituting, as the standard of care, formalized client feedback, which has been shown to improve outcomes. This paper is a non-systematic review that outlines several formalized feedback systems currently available and highlights each system's utility with application to couple and family therapy. While couple and family therapists have unique obstacles in therapy due to multiple therapeutic alliances, the use of formalized feedback has potential to strengthen alliances and improve outcomes for all clients who participate. We advocate for the use of formalized feedback in the training of new therapists and to augment the supervision process. • Encourage the couple and family therapy field to implement the use of formalized client feedback systems both clinically and in research • Demonstrate the importance of implementing formalized client feedback systems to decrease premature termination and improve client outcomes • Provide information about existing client feedback systems to give practitioners the opportunity to choose a method that most benefits their clients
