Today, tourism is becoming more and more the main sector of the economy by generating financial income and creating opportunities for new jobs. However, as one of the sectors where the economic growth of the country is expected to be concentrated in the future, tourism has still not found itself in genuine sectoral development. One of the many problems that Kosovo's tourism economy faces today is the identification of a genuine tourism product development strategy, as well as the use of marketing strategies, which will orient towards the sustainable development of tourism. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical overview of sustainable tourism as a tourism system that focuses on qualitative development, taking into account the quality of life and prosperity of the population, without causing damage in other aspects. The theoretical part deals with sustainable tourism and sustainable development. Based on these facts, it turns out that sustainable tourism is a subgroup of sustainable development. Thus, in this article there are given the differences between these two terms and other terms relevant to our research. It also provides an analysis of tourism development in Kosovo, including statistics on how much the tourism sector is financially supported by the Kosovo Government. Finally, a SWOT analysis of the current state of tourism in Kosovo is presented.

The Western Region of Kosovo presents both opportunities and challenges for the development of urban tourism. Therefore, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in the tourism sector of Kosovo's western region. Therefore, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in the tourism sector of Kosovo's western region.In order to promote and preserve cultural heritage assets and foster urban tourism in Kosovo's western area, this article emphasizes the importance of expanding community involvement and support from government agencies. Some of the primary goals of this study include raising public awareness of the potential that the urban tourism sector of the western region has and encouraging the draw of domestic and international visitors who will be pleased with the standards of services as well as with the natural and cultural resources and their proper promotion can be crucial elements of the development of this area. In the study quantiantitative research design was adopted. The data were collected from randomly selected 720 citizens using a questionnaire. The obtained data were analysed using the statistical tests of Frequancy, Percentage and Chi-square. The study's findings showed that the locals hold the following beliefs: The Western Region of Kosovo presents both opportunities and challenges for the development of urban tourism. Locals view the region as a unique opportunity to take advantage of its natural resources and capacities for both general and specific economic growth, as the results demonstrate. This is particularly relevant for the tourism industry. With a focus on the area's natural beauty attractions, this setting offers a unique collection of services, interactions with tourists, and receptions.

Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to give an overview regarding the importance of travel and tourism industry, its development and sustainability. Given that the development of this industry contributes to the overall development of the economies of different countries, it is intended to present the importance of sustainable development of the travel and tourism industry in the turnover of foreign visitors in Kosovo. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research is based on secondary data obtained from quarterly reports of hotel statistics published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics. These data refer to the number of foreign visitors by purpose of trip for which they have taken the initiative to come to Kosovo. Overall, a comparison has been made in the years 2017-2019 and the trend of the number of foreign visitors has been presented. Findings: Trips undertaken for the purpose of visiting friends and relatives are the highest in number. The number of foreign visitors has marked an increasing trend during the years 2017-2019. Reports have shown that foreign visitors entering Kosovo came from different countries, respectively registered during the crossing of border points. The Tourism sector of Kosovo’s Economy is dominated by small and medium economic agents(operators), meanwhile large economic agents(operators) are still under privatisation processes, for this reason there is a necessity for a more favorable sectorial strategy which will provide long term stability to tourism operators, oferring a diverse tourism product portfolio. Based on the methods and models of stabile developments in tourism presented in this paper, tourism operators will find it easier to coordinate with their respective communities and the public sector to promote the clear message to the tourist regarding the tourism products offered of specific tourist destinations. The analysis shows opportunities for the application of, and potential for integration of those operators in the planning of tourism on a significant scale. Following a theoretical review, a model is proposed in the planning of tourism based on their respective communities. To analyse the differences between the theoretical model and practical application, we examine the Tourism Region of the Albanian Alps of Kosovo.The findings in this study highlight the challenges of institutions in seeking to identify appropriate responsibilities and coordination strategies of all agents involved in the processes of the planning and development of a stabile tourism sector. The Tourism Region taken for example in this paper offers critical evaluation on how to help tourism strategists on their approach in the composition of tourism policy with the aim of helping agents (operators) improve their planning and development methods of tourism, in full cooperation of their respective communities, while also giving aid in guiding organizational direction in seeking new tourism regions in Kosovo.

The purpose of this research is to study the development of tourism in Kosovo and through it is intended to make an important contribution in solving the best models of sustainable tourism development in this region. The Republic of Kosovo is in the phase of change and fundamental development where tourism is considered a very important source for the development of the country's general economy. According to ministry data, tourism has been identified as one of the most powerful sectors for economic development and a very important market for foreign direct investment. The Republic of Kosovo pays special attention to tourism and food, due to the climatic conditions and nature that can be used for the development and promotion of tourism as well as due to the great and unparalleled cultural and historical wealth as a very important part of the country's cumulative tourist offer.

The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical explanation for the continuous development of the tourism industry, following this with a comparison of the tourism development between the two Balkan states, namely Kosovo and Macedonia. this research is important to convey the development trends of tourism in different countries, also the countries and tourist destinations. In this study, a comparative method was used to distinguish Tourism Development Statistics in Kosovo and Macedonia. The data are provided by the state statistical office, Eurostat (online). The practical part of this study shows the total number of tourists in Kosovo and Macedonia for the period 2010-2018. Kosovo and Macedonia are two states of the Balkan Peninsula that have developed the tourism industry, due to the fact that their natural wealth, national, cultural, social values and so on.
