Mental Health, Stress, Learning, Emotional Intelligence & Resilience are important topics of current clinical and pedagogical Research in many universities of the world. In the frame of the collaboration agreement between the University of Evora (Portugal) and the University of Leipzig (Germany) in the field of Psychology, a group of Psychologists of both institutions and guests from the United States and Indonesia met in Evora on 13th May, 2016, in order to explain each other their current research interests and present results in the above mentioned topics of research. The goal was to exchange points of views on Psychology, science and society. During this scientific meeting, several papers on the application of Psychology in the fields of education, public health, clinical disorders, child development and social issues were discussed. Thirteen of them have been selected to be part of the present volume, which contains the results of those fruitful discussions.

Aim: The aim is to experimentally verify the methodology of self-regulation culture formation as an important element of professional training of future teachers of the humanities in the process of studying the author’s specialized course referred to as “Fundamentals of Psychovaleology”. Materials and Methods: The research involved third-year students of pedagogical institutions of higher education aged 20 to 23 years in the number of 126 people (80 girls and 46 boys). The present work focuses on identifying the risk factors that influence the mental health of college students. Mental health is usually understood as the equilibrium situation that an individual experiences with respect that which surrounds him. When this state is attained, the person can participate in social life without problems, achieving his own well-being. Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which the individual is aware of his own abilities, can front facing with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make a contribution to his community. The positive dimension of mental health is highlighted in the definition of health contained in the who constitution: \"health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just the absence of disease or illness.\" Objective: Identify risk factors that influence the mental health of college students. Material and methods: This research has a qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental approach. Subjects: the sample of 60 upper-level students. Instrument. Certificate for the evaluation of risk factors for mental health in women. Results. In the section tobacco said that 18% answered that they smoked and 32% said no, in the same graph, alcoholism 35% said no and 15% said yes. Signs and symptoms of bulimia and anorexy, 41 students that they dind?t had. Conclusions. The important thing is to take care of the students of the higher level the percentages that show the results are relevant in this people, nevertheless one has to be alert in the behaviors that present the students in the classrooms.

Abstracts. Based on of results of decades (2006-2009 years) of empirical research presented individual-psychological and factors (ambivertive) analysis of psychosomatic boy/girl-students health of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. The complex individual psychological and factor analyzes of two samples studied boys / girls students (n = 118/111) taking into account the complex dynamics of total 45 indicators of four blocks psychodiagnostics methods. Published similar results for the boy(ambiverts n = 118) in the Science and Education a New Dimension. The students' psychological health in high education is still being a problematic issue. This article describes the importance of ensuring students' psychological health in higher education today and related empirical research results. The aim of this paper is exploring and analysis research results focused on students' psychological health. To determine the students' psychological health there were used special psychodiagnostic methods. The components of the psychological health were divided as 1) satisfaction level; 2) perceptions of a healthy lifestyle; 3) emotional stability; 4) psychoemotional state; and 5) attitude towards themselves. Obtained results on students' psychological health indicate specific conclusions about various psychological health indicators and the relationship between behaviour and internal health, including in emotional, cognitive and behavioural areas. The results of this research work showed that one of the important indicators of students' psychological health is a decrease in the level of emotional distress and emotional instability (neuroticism, nervousness), a positive change in students' internal state, and an increase in students' satisfaction with their educational environment. The results could be used in the high education system, especially measuring and monitoring students' psychological health.

Background: The social and human sciences have enormously contributed to the study of health and well being of populations as well as to the risk factors and individual resilience that are associated to them. Thus, it is a general thought that one of the main functions of health professionals is to promote healthy behaviours in people. Aim: To verify if some psychological characteristics (Self-Esteem, Locus of Control, Internal Sense of Coherence) are associated to health(lifestyle, health state, general health perception) in higher education students. Method: The sample was made up by 548 students, men and women, who were attending Nursing School (n= 322) and other graduations without any health studies-Management, Languages, Secretarial and Administration (n=226). The protocol included: Inventory "My Lifestyle" Scale "State of Health"; To measure psychological variables: Sense of Coerence Questionnaire; Self-Esteem Clinical Inventory; Self-Esteem Physical Inventory; and Locus of Control Questionnaire. Results: There is an association, statistically significant between health variables and psychological variables, in the expected sense. Also, the results suggest that the Internal Sense of Coherence factorsunderstanding(ß= .336) and generalised significance(ß= .294)-are, in interaction with General Health Perception, predictors in a positive and highly significant way, for Health State, specifically in Nursing School Students. Conclusion: We believe this study points to a growing need of a bigger participation of psychologists (along with other health professionals) in the development of programs related to public health. Apart from an involvement in primary health care it will also be important for these professionals to participate in differentiated care.

A 15-item questionnaire for assessment of stress was applied on a sample of 332 students (age from 19 to 27, 184 males and 148 females). It has been found that over 40% of students have elevated stress levels. The empirical results significantly deviated from the normal distribution. Two groups of participants stood out; the greater group had very elevated levels of stress, while the smaller group had very low average values. When answering questions related to stress, respondents evaluated three elements of lifestyle: the quantity and quality of everyday physical activity, subjective feeling of health and regularity of health checks. Results show that students are not active enough physically and that they rarely check their health. The analysis of variance showed that the highest level of stress is present in students who rated themselves as passive sports lovers, while athletes, amateurs and unexpectedly those who are anti-sports expressed significantly lower levels of stress. Issue concerning academic stress, coping and social cultural adaptation among university students has driven to the need of deep understanding about factors that affect their psychological well-being. A correlational research design was used in this study. The researcher used two softwares to analyze the study data, namely IBM SPSS Statistics 23 and SmartPLS 3 (Partial Least Squares). The numbers of respondents in this study were 424 people. The sample determination in this study was using a simple random sampling technique. This study identified the influence of academic stress factors, coping and social cultural adaptation on psychological well-being of Indonesian postgraduate students, as well as produced a conceptual model that correlates between independent variables and dependent variable in this study. Thus, it can be concluded that academic stress, coping and social cultural adaptation have a significant influence on the psychological well-being of Indonesian postgraduatestudents. Hopefully, the results of this study can significantly contribute to the management of higher education, educators and professional counselors to pay more attention to the issue of academic stress experienced by postgraduate university students.

The present study investigated the prevalence of psychological distress in medical and psychology students (n = 293) at a German University. Sampling structure, questionnaire and process of this study were a reproduction of a prior study carried out at the same university in 1994 (n = 346) which allowed for assessing changes over time. Results show that 12% of students suffered from clinically relevant psychological complaints. Compared to 1994, self-reported mental health problems have significantly decreased. Possible explanations such as an improvement of health care, economic conditions and study conditions are discussed.
In article the psychophysiological portrait of students of high school depending on a social type is presented. 494 girls of 18 – 20 years – students of naturally-scientific and humanitarian faculties are studied. On the basis of the digital test all surveyed students have been divided into four groups: humanists, researchers, socials and managers. The carried psychophysiological investigation of different groups of social types has shown that managers are characterized by high indicators of memory, attention, intellectual working capacity, mobility of nervous processes, verbal thinking, a resistance to stress, motivation to success, a tendency to domination, but average technical abilities that has as a result provided high level of socially-psychological adaptation. For socials the expressed motivation to success, mobility of the nervous processes, the high verbal thinking is characteristic, at a low resistance to stress, tendency to domination and technical abilities; indicators of memory and efficiency of work were at average level. Researchers possessed a high resistance to stress, semantic memory, attention, and technical abilities, mechanical and figurative memory, mobility of nervous processes and efficiency of work at the average level. At humanists the described indicators were at average and low levels.

Objective. Objective of this research was to examine which factors were related to depression, anxiety and stress among nurses/technicians, professional studies students. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among students of the High Medical School of Professional Studies in Belgrade. The sample consisted of 535 students of all three years, between 18 and 56 years of age. Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-42) was used in the research, as well as a questionnaire on personal information which included data on personal impression regarding the importance of exam marks and the feeling of satisfaction with the self as a student. Results. The results of the study showed that 13.6% of the examined student population had symptoms of depression, 25.6% had symptoms of anxiety and 26% had symptoms of stress, which were varying from mild to extremely showing. Average values for all three inspected scales (depression, anxiety, stress) were statistically significantly different depending on the gender of the participants (p = 0.020; p = 0.001; p = 0.001), employment status (p = 0.007; p = 0.020; p = 0.005), total years of service (p = 0.049; p = 0.051; p = 0.017) and feeling of satisfaction with the self as a student (p = 0.000; p = 0.021; p = 0.004). There was a statistically significant difference in average values of the stress scale with respect to the motive to enroll the school (F = 6.445; p < 0.05). Average values of the stress scale were the highest with the participants whose motive was to secure a work position and the lowest with the participants whose motive was promotion in their profession. Conclusion. The results of the research point out the importance of early detection of mental health problems, aiming to find and develop adequate prevention and promotion of programs directed towards improvement of mental health and quality of life.

At the present stage of social development, leading scientists in the field of information technologies have proposed a method of quantifying individual health as the trinity of its physical (somatic), mental and social (spiritual) statuses. Individual health testing should be performed out online on a personal computer using a single software package. Undoubtedly, this cybernetic method in the assessment of the health status will be used widely in the nearest future. However, in our opinion, we should not neglect the simple, affordable, not requiring computer technology, material costs and proven methods. On the basis of many years of researches done by the authors, substantiated methodology and methods for quantifying the level of integral (somatic, mental, spiritual) health of the person as the person are proved.
