Contemporary Literature

El presente trabajo aborda la problemática de la figura “autor” en Shiki Nagaoka: una nariz de ficción (2001) de Mario Bellatin. Texto singular que, hipotetizamos, representa un punto de inflexión en la obra del autor. En este sentido, se sostiene que la aparición de la fotografía en un texto que tiene por foco reflexivo el lenguaje de la literatura y la imagen de autor supone un encuentro no sólo deseado sino, fundamentalmente, sintomático. El trabajo explora y precisa los sentidos de dicha encrucijada tomando como marco teórico general las problemáticas planteadas por Walter Benjamin en relación con el aura y la destrucción de la experiencia.

E sânge peste tot. N-am văzut niciodată atâta sânge. S-a îmbibat în covorul crem, scurgându-se printre scândurile pardoselii, împroșcând picioarele măsuței de cafea din lemn de stejar. Picături perfect ovale care și-au croit drum până la canapeaua din piele de culoare deschisă și pârâiașe care se scurg pe zidul ca de alabastru. Parcă nu se mai termină. Oare dacă cercetez ca lumea, o să găsesc picături de sânge și pe mașina din garaj? Și pe firele de iarbă ale peluzei? În supermarketul din cealaltă parte a orașului? Mai rău de-atât, e din belșug și pe mâinile mele. Ce mizerie. În ciuda faptului că nu am prea mult timp, sunt disperată să-l curăț pe tot. Când există o pată, mai ales pe covor, am învățat că e bine s-o cureți repede, înainte să rămână definitiv în țesătură. Odată ce se usucă, n-o mai scoți cu nimic. Din păcate, indiferent cât de tare frec, n-o să-i fie de niciun folos trupului fără viață care zace prăbușit în mijlocul bălții de sânge. Evaluez situația. OK, e grav. E de așteptat să-mi găsești amprentele împrăștiate prin toată casa, dar roșul închis închegat sub unghii și în liniile care-mi brăzdează palma va fi mult mai greu de explicat. Pata tot mai întunecată de pe piepții cămășii nu e genul de lucru de care pot scăpa cu una, cu două. Am dat de necaz rău de tot. Asta dacă mă prinde cineva. Îmi cercetez palmele, cântărind argumentele pro și contra spălării sângelui, versus varianta de-a o șterge naibii cât mai repede de-aici. Dacă îmi curăț mâinile, pierd secunde prețioase în care aș putea fi prinsă. Dacă plec imediat, o să ies pe ușă cu palmele pline de sânge și voi mânji tot ce ating. Moment în care se aude soneria de la ușă. Ecoul ei răsună prin toată casa, în timp ce eu rămân încremenită în loc, prea speriată ca să mai respir. -E cineva acasă? strigă de afară o voce cunoscută. Te rog, pleacă. Te rog. Casa este scufundată în tăcere. Persoana de la ușă o să-și dea seama că nu-i nimeni aici și va decide să revină altă dată. Trebuie s-o facă. Dacă nu, sunt terminată. Soneria se aude iar. Du-te de-aici. Te rog, vezi-ți de drum. Nu sunt vreo credincioasă, dar în clipa asta mai că-mi vine să mă prăbușesc în genunchi. Mă rog, aș face-o dacă n-ar însemna să mă murdăresc și mai tare de sânge. Persoana de-afară trebuie să înțeleagă că nu-i nimeni acasă. Nu suni la ușa omului mai mult de două ori. Însă, chiar când îmi spun că există o șansă să scap basma curată, mânerul ușii începe să se zguduie. Iar apoi să se răsucească. Oh, nu. Ușa nu-i încuiată. Cam în cinci secunde, persoana din fața intrării va fi înăuntru. Va păși în living. Și atunci va vedea… Asta. Decizia a fost luată. Trebuie să fug. N-am timp să mă spăl pe mâini. Nam timp să-mi fac griji pentru urmele însângerate de tălpi pe care s-ar putea să le las în urmă. Trebuie să plec de-aici. Sper doar ca nimeni să nu descopere ce-am făcut. Îmi place la nebunie casa asta. Îmi place la nebunie totul la casa asta. Îmi place peluza enormă din față și peluza și mai mare din spate (chiar dacă ambele au început să prindă o culoare ușor maronie). Îmi place faptul că livingul e atât de mare, încât în el au loc lejer mai multe piese de mobilier, nu doar o canapea micuță și un televizor. Îmi plac ferestrele uriașe care dau spre străduțele din cartier, despre care am citit într-o revistă că este una dintre cele mai bune zone în care să-ți crești copiii. Și, mai presus de orice, îmi place la nebunie că este a mea. Clădirea de la numărul 14 de pe strada Locust este cu totul și cu totul a mea. Mă rog, OK, treizeci de ani de ipotecă și rate, dar va fi cu totul a mea. Nu mă pot abține să nu mă gândesc neîncetat la cât de norocoasă sunt și îmi tot trec degetele peste pereții noului meu living, pe care-i privesc de foarte aproape, ca să admir tapetul cu flori, nou-nouț. -Mama pupă iar casa! chițăie o voce în spatele meu. Mă îndepărtez iute de perete, cu toate că fiul meu de nouă ani nu m-a prins, totuși, cu vreun iubit secret. Nu mă rușinez câtuși de puțin pentru iubirea pe care-o am pentru această casă. Aș vrea să mi-o strig din terasa de pe acoperiș. (Avem o terasă spectaculoasă pe acoperiș. Îmi place la nebunie casa asta.) -Tu n-ar trebui să despachetezi? îl întreb. Cutiile și mobila lui Nico au fost depozitate la el în cameră, așa că ar fi cazul să se apuce de despachetat, însă tot ce face este să arunce neîncetat cu mingea de baseball în perete -în peretele meu acoperit cu un minunat tapet floral -și apoi s-o prindă. Nu locuim decât de cinci minute în casa asta și este deja hotărât s-o distrugă. O văd în ochii lui de un căprui întunecat. Nu-i vorba că nu-mi iubesc fiul mai mult decât orice pe lume. Dacă maș afla într-una dintre situațiile acelea ipotetice în care ar trebui să aleg între viața lui Nico și casa asta, firește că l-aș alege pe Nico. Nici nu încape discuție. Dar zic și eu, dacă o să strice în vreun fel locuința asta, o să fie pedepsit până când o să-i dea tuleiele. -Despachetez mâine, spune Nico. Filozofia lui în viață pare să fie că orice lucru poate fi făcut mâine. -Sau ce-ar fi să începi chiar acum? îi sugerez eu. Nico aruncă mingea în aer cât să atingă un pic tavanul. Dacă am fi avut ceva cât de cât valoros aici, în casă, în momentul ăsta cred c-aș fi făcut atac de cord. -Mai târziu, insistă el. Adică niciodată. Mă uit spre scara care duce la etaj. Da, avem și o scara! O scară în toată regula. Da, treptele ei scârțâie la fiecare pas și există șansa ca, dacă te prinzi mai zdravăn de balustradă, aceasta să cadă cu totul. Dar avem scări care duc spre un cu totul alt nivel al casei. E ușor să-ți dai seama că am trăit mult prea mult în New York. Am ezitat să mă întorc în Long Island după evenimentele petrecute ultima dată când am locuit aici, dar asta s-a întâmplat cu aproape două decenii în urmă -un trecut îndepărtat. -Ada? strig în direcția scărilor. Ada, poți veni încoace? Câteva clipe mai târziu, pe palierul de la etaj se ițește scăfârlia fiicei mele de 11 ani. Îi văd părul negru, vălurit, și ochii închiși la culoare ațintiți spre mine. Sunt la fel ca ai fratelui ei, moșteniți de la tatăl lor. Spre deosebire de Nico, Ada categoric și-a despachetat lucrurile încă de când am ajuns. Este o elevă de nota zece pe linie -genul care-și face temele fără să fie împinsă de la spate, cu o săptămână înainte de termen. -Ada, ai terminat cu despachetatul? -Aproape. Nicio surpriză în privința asta. -Crezi c-ai putea să-l ajuți și pe Nico să-și scoată ce are prin cutii? Ada dă din cap fără să ezite. -Desigur. Haide, Nico. Nico realizează imediat că situația asta este cea mai bună ocazie ca sora lui să facă toată treaba. -OK! acceptă el bucuros. Apoi, într-un final, încetează să mă mai terorizeze cu mingea aia de baseball și se repede spre scară, sărind câte două trepte ca s-o urmeze pe Ada în camera lui. Dau să-i spun fetei să nu facă ea toată treaba, dar e o cauză pierdută. În acest moment, am și eu vreo șaizeci de cutii de golit. Cât timp lucrurile sunt duse la bun sfârșit, o să fiu mulțumită. Suntem extrem de norocoși că am reușit să cumpărăm această casă. Am pierdut cam de cinci-șase ori războiul ofertelor din cartier și casele nici măcar nu erau atât de frumoase ca asta. Am crezut că mai repede îngheață iadul decât să avem noi șansa de a pune mâna pe această fostă fermă, extrem de pitorească, într-o zonă cu școli publice atât de bine cotate. Aproape că am plâns de bucurie când m-a sunat agentul imobiliar ca să-mi spună că este a noastră. Și cu zece la sută mai ieftină decât prețul cerut! Universul trebuie să fi decis că merităm și noi un pic de noroc. Mă uit pe fereastra de la stradă la camionul parcat în față. Casa este la un capăt de stradă de formă rotundă, așa-numitul cul-de-sac {1} , alături de alte două case, iar peste drum văd silueta cuiva la o fereastră. Noii noștri vecini, probabil. Sper că sunt prietenoși. Dinspre camion se aud niște bubuituri, așa că deschid larg ușa ca să văd ce se întâmplă. Alerg afară exact la timp ca să-mi văd soțul coborând din camion alături de unul dintre prietenii lui, care a fost de acord să ne ajute cu mutarea. Eu voiam să angajăm o firmă specializată, dar bărbatul meu a insistat că se descurcă el, alături de prietenii aduși în ajutor. Și trebuie să recunosc: e nevoie să economisim fiecare bănuț dacă vrem să o scoatem la capăt cu ratele pentru ipotecă. Chiar și cu zece la sută sub prețul inițial, casa de vis nu a fost ieftină. Soțul meu ține de un capăt al canapelei pentru living, iar tricoul transpirat i s-a lipit tot de piept. Mă crispez toată, pentru că are 40 de ani și ultimul lucru de care am avea nevoie este să-și distrugă spatele. Când am planificat mutarea, i-am explicat îngrijorarea mea, iar el s-a purtat de parcă ar fi fost cel mai caraghios lucru pe care l-a auzit vreodată, cu toate că eu am dureri de spate o dată la două săptămâni. Și nu de la ridicatul vreunei canapele. Ci, pur și simplu, mă apucă și de la un strănut. -Vrei să ai grijă, Enzo? îl atenționez eu. Ridică privirea spre mine și când îmi zâmbește, mă topesc toată. Este normal? Și celelalte femei măritate de unsprezece ani simt uneori că li se taie picioarele când își văd bărbații? Nu? Doar mie mi se întâmplă? Adică, firește, nu pățesc asta chiar în fiecare minut. Dar, frate, încă reușește să mă stârnească. Nu-i vreo problemă că pare să devină, în mod inexplicabil, tot mai sexy cu fiecare an. (În timp ce eu mai îmbătrânesc un an și atâta tot.) -Am grijă, insistă el. Iar canapeaua asta? E ușoară! Nici n-o simți. La replica asta, tipul care ține de celălalt capăt își dă ochii peste cap, fără nicio îndoială. Însă, hai să recunoaștem, nu-i vreo canapea masivă și grea. Am luat-o de la IKEA, ceea ce e un progres față de cea de dinainte, pe care am luat-o de pe un trotuar. Enzo avea o teorie: cele mai bune obiecte de mobilier provin de pe trotuarul din fața apartamentului nostru. De-atunci ne-am maturizat un pic. Sper. În timp ce Enzo și prietenul lui cară canapeaua în locuința noastră frumoasă și nouă, ridic privirea ca să mă uit la casa de peste drum....

Este artículo constata el trasfondo político de Feria (2020) en lo que se refiere a su propuesta para redimir a la juventud de su malestar por la coyuntura actual. Ana Iris considera que el progresismo se ha olvidado de ciertos referentes como la familia, la tradición o la patria y proclama un retorno a lo local frente a lo global, interconectando en su proclama con aspectos ideológicos del rojipardismo. Por rojipardo, nos referimos a una actitud política contemporánea que entremezcla elementos de extrema izquierda y de extrema derecha y que tiene su antecedente histórico en el nacional bolchevismo histórico del periodo de entreguerras europeo (1917-39). Su agenda programática aspira a una revolución socialista y de corte patriótico que libere al ciudadano del carácter alienador del globalismo. Consideramos que las peripecias biográficas y cotidianas de Feria apelan, de manera solapada, a este programa político e interconectan también con algunos de los debates contemporáneos (multiculturalidad, precariedad laboral, discursos de género). Por otro lado, también valoramos la posibilidad de que el discurso ideológico de Feria conecte con una tradición literaria específica de la novela española como es la novela ideológica.

Im Zuge der gegenwärtigen Transformation hin zu einer digitalen, multimodal dominierten Medienkultur vollzieht sich ein Wandel des Lesens. Dieser betrifft nicht nur die Lesemedien und die Rezeptionsbedingungen, sondern auch die Medialität und Materialität von Texten. Im Mittelpunkt des Bandes steht die Frage, wie Texte gelesen werden, die Schrift und Bilder miteinander kombinieren. Vorgestellt werden Zugänge aus den Literatur-, Buch- und Medienwissenschaften, aus der Multimodalitätsforschung und Kognitionspsychologie sowie aus Kunstwissenschaft und Deutschdidaktik. Ziel ist es, das Forschungsfeld des Schrift-Bild-Lesens abzustecken und einen Beitrag zu seiner theoretischen Grundlegung zu leisten.

Hace diez años, Felipe me invitó a tomar un café cerca de su casa. Tenía una propuesta que hacerme. Quería postular un proyecto de investigación a un fondo concursable y necesitaba a una ayudante. No iba a ser fácil ganar, me confesó. El tema era poco convencional: le interesaba establecer relaciones entre música electrónica y poesía, especialmente poesía sonora. Cuando me contó, yo misma -que tenía (y todavía tengo) un especial interés en estudiar a poetas y escritores rarospensé que su idea era un poco extravagante. A pesar de eso, acepté el desafío. En una de las primeras sesiones de trabajo, me reveló que estaba temeroso de que los evaluadores no entendieran la propuesta o que derechamente pensaran que les estaba tomando el pelo. En ese momento, entendí y compartí su preocupación. Le dije: «Es verdad. Muchos poetas y académicos tienen prejuicios con la poesía experimental, sobre todo sonora. Piensan que son puros ruiditos sin sentido, un hobby de burgueses aburridos. Para qué hablar de estudiar la música electrónica en relación con la poesía…». Como yo ya había trabajado en la formulación de otros proyectos, con mucha delicadeza le propuse que fuéramos estratégicos: para superar esos prejuicios, teníamos que demostrar que lo que queríamos investigar formaba parte de una rica e interesante tradición. <div> <p>The friendship between Gabriele d'Annunzio and Angelo Conti is particularly intense in the years 1894-1900, in the context of Venice. Both of them reflect about Venetian painters and especially Giorgione, whose picture they interpret as an expression of Venetian magnificent life. I analyze the meaning of the form <i>fuoco giorgionesco</i>, also used by Walter Pater in his well-known essay <i>The School of Giorgione</i>. I examine in particular Conti's references to this text, in order to verify their accuracy. I put forward the hypothesis that, when Conti wrote the monograph <i>Giorgione</i>, his knowledge of the English author was incomplete and came largely from articles published in magazines, from conversations with friends, and from the translation into Italian of only short extracts. I argue that it was unlikely that Conti (and d'Annunzio) had read Pater's whole work in English, which at the time was little known in Italy.</p> </div>

This chapter explores the dynamics of subversion and experimentation in contemporary Slovak poetry, focusing on its evolution since the 1990s. The cultural liberation following the fall of socialism enabled poets to challenge established literary norms, embracing verse as a means of intimate self-expression and societal critique. Inspired by the countercultural ethos of the Beat Generation and avant-garde traditions, a new wave of Slovak poets experimented with form, language, and themes, often provoking literary controversies and reshaping the poetic landscape. By the mid-1990s, a group of poets employing deconstructive and experimental approaches gained prominence, igniting literary debates and influencing subsequent generations. Over time, what once constituted radical poetic gestures became an integral part of Slovak literary mainstream, as experimental and conceptual writing techniques were widely adopted. The chapter highlights key poets whose works engage with contemporary global issues—environmental crises, social inequalities, and political polarization—while exploring interdisciplinary and intermedia approaches that blur the boundaries between poetry, visual arts, and digital media. Through an analysis of groundbreaking poets from the 1990s to the present, this chapter illustrates how Slovak poetry, while deeply rooted in local contexts, actively participates in global literary dialogues, reflecting shifts in cultural identity, artistic expression, and the broader socio-political landscape.

Ponadto przyjrzymy się przedstawieniu kobiet w nurcie dark academia i modelom tożsamości kobiet wiejskich w wybranych polskich popularnych powieściach historycznych.

A lesson plan for teaching this novel to high school grades 11-12, community college, and/or college and university students. Their emotional starvation, their inability to love, to act, to assert their manliness--in short, their shrinking from life--is a personal 53 problem paralleled by a public problem. 17 These protagonists experience loneliness, isolation, and find themselves drawn to an external reality about which they do not have sound knowledge. Having been content with their own vision of the world, the males are confronted by events which that vision does not easily, 54 if at all, penetrate. The consequences of their emergence into the world are sometimes fatal because they lack the flexibility to learn--"When reality comes breaking in", Reynolds tells us, "it kills, literally in Eustace's [Leadbitter's and Fergus's] case, figuratively in Leo and Richard's" 55 even though Richard, in The Brickfield, does manage to become a novelist after his childhood experiences. The male protagonists in Hartley's world are often artist-figures, who are usually involved in writing novels or articles--Alec Goodrich in A Perfect Woman, and Timothy Casson, are struggling novelists, Leo turns, later in life, from writer to (non-artistic) bibliographer, Eustace reluctantly becomes a novelist, and Leadbitter creates a fictional "series" for Lady Franklin. When Hartley's males are not artists, like Basil Hancock and Fergus Macready, they betray a sensitivity that is traditionally associated with the "hero-as-artist" in fiction. The character of the witch as we still define it was born in demonologist's writings during witch-hunts. Known as the woman who made a pact with Satan, she was originally healer or midwife. Those texts develop an archetype which is used in the contemporary novels, in which the authors offer an analysis of the revelation of being a witch threw two main narrative arcs: the forced coming-out because of the Inquisition and the chosen one, leading to the constitution of a community. We'll try, in the paper, to explore those two ways and the implications in the socio-political and intimate relationships of the characters.

This article explores the intermedial and gendered dimensions of Patricia Lockwood's No One Is Talking About This, situating the novel within the emergent genre of the "internet novel" and examining how its narrative form reflects and critiques the disjointed experience of digital media consumption. The novel's intermedial form, which functions both as a stylistic choice and as a commentary on the affective experience of being online, reflects the hypertextual quality of digital interactions while also probing the complexities of mediated subjectivity. The article argues that Lockwood's novel not only captures the disembodied, ironic texture of social media but also actively engages in a critical interrogation of how such a medium shapes the self, especially for women. The protagonist's fragmented identity, formed through viral tweets and online interactions, highlights the pervasive influence of digital media in constructing contemporary subjectivity. As the novel progresses, it disrupts its initial ironic detachment by foregrounding the embodied, often painful realities of the protagonist's life offline, particularly through her family's personal crisis. This shift is read as a "glitch" in the text, revealing moments where the narrative breaks from its intermedial form and critiques the limitations of digital irony and disembodiment. Drawing on theories of digital media, feminist critique, and intermediality, the article ultimately reads the significantly intermedial texture of Lockwood's novel as a model of hybridity that reflects on the nature of digital media in contemporary life, illustrating how narrative forms can both reflect and resist the gendered dimensions of power and disempowerment in the digital age.

This article examines the boundaries of the term 9/11 novel by exploring what we truly mean when we say a novel is about 9/11 and what are the issues in reading general twenty-first-century literature through 9/11. By taking a thorough look at 9/11 literary scholarship, I argue that the issue of defining the 9/11 novel has been largely overlooked; consequently, the label 9/11 has often been stamped too easily on twenty-first-century fiction. In the aim to establish the boundaries of 9/11 fiction, I compare the thematic, temporal, and spatial features of some of the most iconic 9/11 novels to two works which have been commonly read as 9/11 novels even though they do not explicitly discuss the attacks, Cormac McCarthy's The Road and Philip Roth's The Plot Against America. By building on this discussion, I offer a concise definition of what a 9/11 novel is and where 9/11 ends.

Artykuł proponuje rekonstrukcję kluczowych wątków fabularnych "Unicestwiania" Michela Houellebecqa oraz zawartej w powieści epokowej diagnozy. Podstawowej matrycy interpretacyjnej dostarcza immunologiczny paradygmat nowoczesnej filozofii i socjologii (Roberto Esposito), jego wariant antropologiczny zaproponowany przez Petera Sloterdijka (w szczególności metafora „piany”) oraz reinterpretacja Byung-Chul Hana. Te słowniki teoretyczne pozwalają lepiej uchwycić pisarską refleksję oraz przeformułować ją w kategoriach społecznej komunikacji i koimmunizacji.

Este trabajo analiza cómo la literatura de frontera en México ha visto reducida su función crítico-estética al integrarse en la lógica de consumo tardocapitalista. Al reforzar identidades fijas y reproducir gramáticas de la (anti)heroicidad, limita su capacidad de resistencia y contribuye a la marginalización de lo subalterno.

Prisoner by Romen Basu Among the new signatures, new voices, Romen has a place of own even though he is not a new entrant into the realms of Indo-Anglican poetry which we never came to notice it as has been writing for quite a long time. Had it been, we would have into the syllabuses of ours. Had we considered, he would have been one of the major poets. Instead of that some very good poems have come from the poetic pen of Romen Basu which can never be kept on the margins.

Our writing tools are also working on our thoughts," wrote Friedrich Nietzsche after turning to the typewriter due to his near-sightedness (qtd. in Kittler, Gramophone 200). Unsatisfied with the machine, Nietzsche soon enlisted human aid to replace it. However, Martin Stingelin and Friedrich Kittler argue that Nietzsche's brief encounter with the typewriter transformed his writing as well as his philosophy of writing (Stingelin 70-82; Kittler, "Mechanized" 195-207). Their reflections on Nietzsche's relationship with the typewriter in the light of late-twentieth-century media ecology drive home the idea that writing machines direct paradigms of thought. Kittler maintains that the interaction of computers-the contemporary mass medium of inscription-with our cognitive and sensory faculties cannot be explained from an anthropocentric point of view; rather it is imperative to consider how the technological media define "humans" ("Thinking Colours"). Indeed, the mid-twentieth-century information sciences and cybernetics, the bases for Kittler's "information-theoretical materialism," also spawned the first generation of cognitive science, in which technological media-computers in particular-served as analogical models for defining and understanding the human mind. The central claim of the first generation of cognitive scientists, who were strongly committed to developing artificial intelligence, was that the mind (or brain 1 ) is a computational device. According to the computational model of cognition, the human mind "converts" lower-order sensory perceptions to higher-order abstract, arbitrary, and a-modal (AAA) representations in order to "process" them. Thinking, then, entails the manipulation of symbols (the AAA representations) following sets of rules and formal properties (see Fodor, Language). A kötet jellemzése és az életműben való kontextualizálása után felvázolja az interpretáció irányát: a beavatás poétikája nyomán szándékszik elemezni a művet. A kulturális antropológia által vizsgált átmeneti és beavatási rítusok struktúrája nyomán a pszichológia vélekedéseit is szem előtt tartva Daniela Hodrová beavatási regénypoétikája segítségével értelmezi a regényt, amelyben világosan felismerhető az iniciációs struktúra, a szereplők a szerepkörök tipológiájába illeszkednek, és más jellemvonások, mint a katabázis vagy a liminalitás tapasz- talata, szintén jellemzik a művet. A regény hangsúlyosan a főszereplő, Sanyi és Hugó kapcsolatára épül, utóbbiban a modernizmus regényhagyományának az örökségére, az alakmás/ alteregó toposzára ismerhetünk. A tanulmány a problémát a jungi pszichológia felől közelíti meg, a beavatói szerepkörben álló Hugó az árnyék archetípusával való találkozás esetének minősül. Ez alapozza meg a beavatást a regényben, amely – mint ahogy Hodrová is kiemeli a kortárs példák tipizálásával – ezúttal is kudarcba fullad: az iniciáció sikertelen.

Predkladaná štúdia sa zaoberá s románom Lajosa Grendela, Život takmer štyri týždne, ktorý vyšiel v roku 2011. Po stručnej charakteristike knihy a jej kontextualizácii v rámci autorovej tvorby načrtáva smer interpretácie: má v úmysle analyzovať dielo vo svetle poetiky zasvätenia. V nadväznosti na štruktúru prechodových a iniciačných rituálov skúmaných kultúrnou antropológiou a s prihliadnutím na názory psychológie štúdia interpretuje Grendelove dielo prostredníctvom poetiky iniciačného románu nasledujúc teóriu Daniely Hodrovej. Román sa zakladá na jasne badateľnej iniciačnej štruktúre, postavy sa zaraďujú do typológie postáv iniciačného románu, nachádzame v ňom motív katabázy či skúsenosť liminality. Román sa sústreďuje na vzťah medzi hlavným hrdinom Sanyim a Hugom – jeho postavu môžeme pokladať za príklad motívu dvojník/alterego pochádzajúci z románovej tradície modernizmu. Príspevok pristupuje k problematike z pohľadu jungovskej psychológie, pričom Hugo je v úlohe zasvätenca: iniciáciu teda podnecuje stretnutie sa s archetypom tieňa. Hodrová na základe príkladov poznamenáva, že existuje typ súčasného iniciačného románu, v ktorom zasvätenie je neúspešné. Ďalší príklad toho je aj Grendelov román vďaka Sanyiho zlyhaniu v snahe vyrovnať sa so svojim životom a minulosťou.

Postmodern playwrights since World War II have started to deal with themes of violence on different levels. What the war caused has made them think of the indispensability of staging violence and its different types. The present article aims at dealing with the different ways violence is delineated and staged in Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good (1988). It also aims at showing the different types of violence and the impact they have on the characters in the play. Wertenbaker manages to deal with different types of violence showing that violence has become a fixed sign of human life after the second world war. Wertenbaker aims at stirring people against many of the oppression, violence, and injustice
done in this world. She wants people not to remain silent.

Literary theory in Spain has offered valuable studies on the complex rela-tionships between literature and new media. Most of the approaches have focused on the “impact” and influence of the Internet in the literary field and in the definition of lite-rature itself. This paper partially abandons the idea of novelty, change, or textual-medial difference that have characterized such investigations, since I consider that the Internet has already been normalized and can be experienced beyond the online sphere. For this reason, I argue for the necessity of reaching a certain critical and temporal distan-ce for reflection on digital creation. Specifically, two possible strategies for distancing are proposed: firstly, the question of literature’s post- will be reviewed with the aim of questioning the meaning that the adjective “digital” provides today; secondly, a critical rereading of the concepts of obsolescence and the digital divide will be offered.

En el marco de la microtextualidad literaria, los estudios se han centrado, principalmente, en tres factores: el debate terminológico, la extensión y su identificación genérica. La crítica oscila entre una consideración fundamentalmente narrativa y otra abierta a fenómenos intermediales/de hibridación. En esta investigación, tomamos como referencia la idea del “desgenerado” de Violeta Rojo para plantear nuevas indagaciones, abiertas y flexibles, sobre las “formas breves”. Asimismo, proponemos un recorrido por algunas de las visiones sobre estos géneros en el ámbito hispánico. Finalmente, ofrecemos un resumen de las diferentes contribuciones que componen este monográfico.

El presente texto se propone analizar una figura en expansión en la literatura
en castellano, como es el escritor-editor independiente, tomando para ello el
caso del escritor de vanguardia y editor independiente argentino Damián Tabarovsky. El trabajo se articula en dos bloques de análisis que tratan de ofrecer una visión completa de un hecho complejo que involucra a la escritura y a la edición. El primer bloque piensa, de forma crítica, la relación entre literatura y trabajo, problematizando, entre otras, la sociología del hecho literario de Bernard Lahire mediante la introducción de nociones como «reconocimiento» o «valorización». En la segunda parte, se utiliza el ejemplo de Damián Tabarovsky y de Mardulce Editora con el objetivo de pensar, en un mismo movimiento, la estética y política de la estética de Tabarovsky, por un lado, y la poética editorial de Mardulce, por otro, tratando de aportar una mirada sobre la intervención del escritor-editor argentino en la cultura literaria de su tiempo.

Una part gens menystenible de la prosa catalana dels darrers anys ha coincidit a articular-se a l'entorn d'una mateixa concepció del fet literari, reveladora de la fe incondicional que els escriptors expressen en els gèneres narratius i la seva capacitat per integrar la realitat extraficcional en tramats textuals de factures ben diverses que es relliguen gràcies a una veu narrativa identificable o no amb l'autor. En alguns casos, es tendeix a barrejar conscientment aquest autor amb la instància narrativa que conta la història, o, si més no, a escurçar-ne les preceptives distàncies que farien al cas entre l'un i l'altra. Parlem d'obres com ara Una màquina d'espavilar ocells de nit (2008) de Jordi Lara, Sense alè (2012) de Josefa Contijoch, Marges (2013) de Roger Vilà, o Albert Serra (la novel•la, no el cineasta) (2013) d'Albert Forns. En totes aquestes narracions, a més, s'hi incorporen altres formes prosístiques (sovint no necessàriament literàries: retalls de diari, notes de quadern, informacions d'Internet, cartes personals) que es validen des del coneixement empíric de la realitat. En canvi, altres contes i novel•les eixamplen els límits tradicionals d'aquests gèneres reelaborant de manera més o menys velada característiques reals dels autors, sense que en cap cas es qüestioni l'elaboració ficcional de cada relat en qüestió. Dormir amb Winona Ryder (2007) d'Edgar Cantero, alguns contes de La bicicleta estàtica (2010) de Sergi Pàmies, A butxacades (2011) o L'horitzó primer (2013), de Joan Todó, o Primavera, estiu, etc. (2011) de Marta Rojals, entre d'altres, en són clarificadores mostres per la presència de personatges que bé podem qualificar d'alter egos dels escriptors respectius. Abocar llum sobre qüestions que prenen com a elements de judici materials tan recents, ha de ser per força una tasca incompleta, inevitablement provisional i sens dubte sotmesa a l'ull crític d'altres mirades. Per aquesta raó, no volem anar més enllà en la hipòtesi taxonòmica ni en la simple constatació d'unes traces compartides que, d'altra banda, ens apareixen evidents. Surveying the full breadth of J. M. Coetzee’s career as both academic and novelist, this book argues for the necessity of rethinking his profound indebtedness to literary modernism in terms of a politics of life. Isolating a particular strain of late modernism, epitomised by Kafka and Beckett, Farrant claims that Coetzee’s writings consistently demonstrate an agonistic engagement with the concept of life that involves an entanglement of politics and ethics, which supersedes the singular theoretical frameworks often applied to Coetzee, such as postcolonialism, posthumanism and animal studies. Running throughout his engagement with questions of modernity and colonialism, storytelling and life writing, human and non-human life, religion and post-Enlightenment subjectivity, Coetzee’s politics of life yield a new literary cosmopolitanism for the twenty-first century; a powerful commentary on our interrelatedness that emphasises finitude and contingency as fundamental to the way we live together.

Dreaming of other worlds is a commonality between vegans and anarchists. Both movements refuse the status quo in their respective ways - either challenging anthropocentrism and human domination over other animals; or refusing capitalism, hierarchies of power or any type of authority. Sometimes, the two combine. But not always. In this chapter, we plan on exploring some commonalities and frictions as they are revealed in antispeciesist, queer-feminist and/or anarchist literary works from our region, Romania. These are works we are either marginally, or deeply involved with - either edited by us or our comrades or written by us. In our theorizing-with poetry and fiction, we see these works functioning not below or above critical theory, but together. For us literary writing can function as activism in the sense that it creates counter-discourse, criticizes the status quo, and helps us imagine other worlds (cf. Karkulehto et al. 2022). Within this text, you can read excerpts from these works, translated from Romanian to English by us. The writings we write-with explore affective universes of the everyday in which vegan-anarchist sensibilities develop.

Resumen: Desde finales del siglo XX y, particularmente, en la literatura de la última década, ha aumentado el número de libros escritos por mujeres que recogen una inquietud acerca de la maternidad y sus repercusiones en la vida tanto privada como pública, de la relación entre creación literaria y procreación, y del anhelo de maternidad y de la posibilidad para las mujeres de vivirla desmontando los patrones patriarcales que la regulan. El presente artículo pretende ofrecer un análisis de uno de los libros más representativos de esta escritura, La mejor madre del mundo (2019) de Nuria Labari. Se mostrará cómo en su libro autoficcional Labari cuestiona el mito de la maternidad y la idea según la cual habría un destino inexorable otorgado a las mujeres, el de ser madres. Con el relato de su experiencia personal muestra que detrás de la maternidad hay una construcción social que relega a las mujeres a un segundo plano. Abstract: Since the end of the 20th century, and particularly in the literature of the last dec- ade, there has been an increasing number of books written by women that reflect a concern about motherhood and its repercussions on both private and public life, about the relationship between literary creation and procreation, and about the longing for motherhood and the pos- sibility for women to live this experience by dismantling the patriarchal patterns that regulate it. This article aims to offer an analysis of one of the most representative books of this writing, La mejor madre del mundo (2019) by Nuria Labari. In her autofictional book, Labari will question the myth of motherhood and the idea according to which there would be an inexorable destiny given to women, that of being mothers. With the story of her personal experience she shows that, behind motherhood, there is a social construction that relegates women to the background.

La pittrice Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1654 ca) incarna una delle icone culturali più attrattive del XXI secolo. Ma quand’è che la sua parabola artistico-esistenziale è divenuta «leggibile» per «noi moderni»? Alternando un approccio diacronico a uno sincronico, attraverso il romanzo di Banti, il concetto di «immagine dialettica» elaborato da Benjamin e quello di «impronta» teorizzato da Didi-Huberman, l’articolo mira a tracciare un possibile itinerario critico per comprendere le ragioni profonde del suo odierno «potere iconico», passando «a contropelo» la vita e l’opera di Artemisia come classico del nostro tempo.
