Zarówno w polskiej, jak i czeskiej literaturze po roku 1989 wzrasta liczba narracji rodzinnych, które zdaniem wielu badaczy mogą z powodzeniem posłużyć jako pole do obserwacji społecznych przemian. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje taką próbę w odniesieniu do dwóch powieści – Szopki Zośki Papużanki i Pod śniegiem Petry Soukupovej. Są one analizowane (w warstwie treściowej i językowej) w ujęciu porównawczym, a także – w duchu twierdzeń Agnieszki Mrozik, Anny Pekaniec i Evy Klíčovej – jako dokument dotyczący polskiej i czeskiej rzeczywistości oraz różnic w mentalności obu narodów. Opisano odmienny sposób, w jaki oba teksty dekonstruują mit szczęśliwej rodziny, ale również reprezentują szersze zjawiska kulturalno-społeczne – polską tradycję romantyczną oraz czeską ucieczkę od sfery publicznej w prywatną. The Syair Awang Semaun and the La Galigo are major works of literature that remain relatively little-known outside of small groups of specialists and the people to whom they belong, namely, the Brunei-Malays and the Bugis of South Sulawesi. The Syair Awang Semaun is a long Brunei Malay poem that was created from various oral traditions that, at some point, were used to create a new oral and poetic work that sets out Brunei’s foundation myth and the exploits of its founders, in particular, Awang Semaun. It was probably first written down on paper in the Jawi script in the nineteenth or early twentieth century. Composed in segments of five syllables, the La Galigo provides a Bugis creation myth in the form of a cycle of stories contained in hundreds of handwritten manuscripts that relate the adventures, wars, and deeds of the founders and their descendants, many of which centre around the great Bugis culture hero, Sawerigading. These stories appear to have been transferred from the oral register to the Bugis script from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries. While neither work can be described as a historical text and are clearly more ideological and literary expressions, they do represent the values of those who created and shaped them during their transmission through time and remain important to their respective societies in the twenty-first century. This chapter attempts an initial comparative analysis of these two major works, focusing in particular on culture heroes, the divine and supernatural, and the broader indigenous Austronesian ideas that they convey.

In the radical upheaval of the Russian revolution, author Maxim Gorky tied his humanist hopes to the Bolshevik leadership, persuading them to create the World Literature Press (or Vsemirnaia Literatur). Soviet World Literature was organised to collectively promote literature translation (in theory and practice): a project committed to translating the ‘great works’ of fiction from all over the world and into the hands of the proletarian masses. In spite of its relevance to contemporary discourses on translation and world literature today, this fascinating episode has long been absent or invisible in narratives of world literature this century, in the form of anthologies, histories, monographs, and syllabi. Recognising this, the editors have delivered an accomplished collection on a grandiose topic, serving to catapult a fascinating area into the foreground of comparative literary discourse and delivering a long and much needed revision of its relevance today.

În Argumentul cărţii sale "Nostalgiile identităţii", autoarea Andreea Deciu formulează un set de întrebări care constituie miza lucrării: "[…] ce înseamnă a avea identitate personală? Cum sunt eu, ca persoană, recognoscibilă în timp de către ceilalţi? Cum sunt eu recognoscibilă mie însămi? Care este legătura dintre felul meu de a trăi în prezent şi trecutul ca depozitar al gândurilor, senzaţiilor şi intenţiilor mele? Cum mă redefinesc pe mine în fiecare moment semnificativ al vieţii mele, şi cum mă las construită şi redefinită de Celălalt, care la rândul său devine proiectul construcţiei mele?" În lumina acestor întrebări poate fi foarte bine abordată cartea autoarei franceze Annie Ernaux "Confesiunea adolescentei". Naratoarea de acum povesteşte despre "fata din 1958"-care nu este alta decât ea la 18 ani (adolescenta!)-ca şi cum ar fi o străină. Resimţită de ceilalţi "ca o anomalie, ca o abatere de la bunul-simţ, ca o perturbare", dispărută din conştiinţa lor, fata din 1958 stăruie în memoria naratoarei de azi, însă şi ea mărturiseşte: "Am vrut să o uit pe fata aceea." De ce? Pentru că sentimentul care a însoţit-o în acei ani a fost ruşinea. Ce anume generează ruşine la o adolescentă? Corpul şi manifestările sale, dorinţele, visurile.

The relationship between ethics and literature has always been a contested one. I firstly discuss this relationship, arguing that literature is not ethical  per se , which is the reason why it can serve ethical purposes. Secondly, I state, in line with Martha Nussbaum, why any ethical thinking today has to refer to global ethics. Drawing from this, I present three recent novels, all of which deal with fundamental twentieth century atrocities:  Burnt Shadows  by Kamila Shamsie,  The French Art of War  by Alexis Jenni and  The Walnut Mansion  by Miljenko Jergovic. They pose philosophical and ethical questions about war, violence and the great ruptures of civilisation. They are a component of world literature in the sense that the plot, and the ethical reflection triggered by this, is not related to a single nation state, but to the global situation. Peter Weis's Aesthetics of Resistance, a well-known novel in the world literature, is initiated with the figure of the Heracles in Greek mythology to explain the European's anti-despotism and quest for freedom. Uprising to the divinity and the power of infinite and fighting against the slavery are the first steps to achieve freedom. During the mythical periods, extraordinary authority never allowed the sharing of power and freedom within its hegemony. The desire to protect and sustain its absolute power has led to violence among the lower class. Oppressed masses faced with extreme oppression and violence have created their own heroes to open a path of emancipation throughout the flow of history. Bu çalışma, ABD ve Çin’in Büyük Mekong Alt Bölgesi’ndeki bilhassa ekonomik-ticari rekabetlerini, nicel verileri de dahil ederek karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz etmektedir. Çalışmada nitel yorumsamacı analiz yöntemi kullanılmakla birlikte nicel verilerin analizinde karşılaştırmalı analiz yönteminden de yararlanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın temel hipotezi de ABD ve Çin’in Büyük Mekong Alt Bölgesi’nde rekabet etme potansiyelinin olduğu, ancak ABD’nin bu ülkelerde Çin’le ekonomik açıdan rekabet edebilecek enstrümanlardan büyük oranda yoksun olduğu yönündedir. Burada temel olarak Çin’le coğrafi yakınlık, kültürel ve diğer sosyolojik bağlar gibi faktörlerin etkili olduğu varsayımı kabul edilmektedir. Lancang-Mekong İşbirliği, Çin’in liderliğinde bir proje olarak görülmektedir. Buna karşılık ABD, 2009 yılından beri “Aşağı Mekong Girişimi” adı altında Kamboçya, Laos, Tayland ve Vietnam’la iş birliği yürütmektedir. Çin, Mekong Nehri’nin kendi bölümünde birçok baraj inşa etmektedir. Bu barajlardan elde ettiği hidrolojik verilerini Mekong ülkeleriyle paylaşmak için Lancang-Mekong İşbirliği platformunu kullanmaktadır. ABD ise bölgede Çin’le özellikle ekonomik açıdan rekabet edebilecek düzeyde değildir. Bunun için ABD’nin bölgedeki altyapı ve ulaştırma projelerine yönelik yatırımlarını ciddi oranda artırması gerekir. Uzun vadede ABD, Büyük Mekong Alt Bölgesi’nde siyasi, ekonomik ve askeri partner olarak ağırlığını koyamayacak gibi durmaktadır.

3 Abstract: The ability to write an effective summary might be regarded as one of the most important writing skills a college student is supposed to acquire. To gain an adequate level of expertise in summary writing, learners need to draw on sound strategies, among the least-heeded instances of which mention might be made of the use of overriding move patterns that configure any piece of academic writing. El articulo examina las notas periodisticas sobre la Guerra del Chaco (1932-1935) publicadas por Gonzalez Tunon en el diario Critica(1932) como corresponsal. En ese viaje Tunon ensaya e introduce en su periodismo distintos modos de su labor escrituraria. Con ciertas peculiaridades mas o menos inaugurales, aqui se modula claramente un cierto pasaje en su itinerario literario, profesional y de artista vanguardista y social: el transito en las cronicas hacia el escritor de accion politica, militante y antibelicista. Se analizan los rasgos que en estas cronicas reenvian al poeta comprometido que aparece insistentemente en un tiempo posterior en su produccion y permiten revisar algunas de las formas de lo aprendido y ensayado en su periodismo. Josep Vallverdú ha estat valorat extensament com a autor infantil i juvenil ja que ha esdevingut un dels escriptors preferits pels joves catalans des de l'inici de la seva carrera als anys seixanta. Per a ell, aquest gènere i la traducció van suposar un mitjà per recuperar la literatura i cultura catalanes, alhora que acomplia la seva vocació literària. Sobretot des de final dels anys vuitanta, també va escriure assajos i el que ell anomena «llibres personals», que inclouen un gran ventall de formes com ara memòries, dietaris, articles de premsa, assajos sobre la seva obra i llibres de viatges per Catalunya i altres indrets. L'anàlisi dels diferents camps que ha cultivat explica per primera vegada que els seus llibres per a lectors joves han rebut els premis més prestigiosos i altres mostres de reconeixement i popularitat. Aquest fet es deu a l'excel•lència en la construcció dels personatges, l'ús de diverses veus narratives i el ritme. Tot i això, l'èxit dels seus llibres personals és més limitat i sovint han estat valorats com a documents d'un període històric descrits per un dels seus protagonistes. La presència del desengany en els últims dietaris fa qüestionar si Vallverdú es lamenta per no haver aconseguit més reconeixement com a escriptor o si està desil•lusionat perquè no s'ha aconseguit el projecte col•lectiu de recuperació de la cultura catalana pel qual sempre ha lluitat. La seva voluntat de ser valorat en diversos camps també el va portar a explorar la literatura de frontera (o per a joves adults) amb dues novel•les inspirades en els clàssics d'aventures Robinson Crusoe i L'Illa del Tresor. Les dues continuacions comparteixen nombroses característiques amb els títols per a lectors més joves, i l'anàlisi d'aquestes obres obre camí en la recerca sobre els límits de la literatura vallverduniana per a edats diferents; aquesta tesi també denota la influència en les seves novel•les de les traduccions fetes per ell i la relació entre les diverses parts de la seva producció literària.

Upućuje se na moguću povezanost biološkog rasta i gospodarskog potencijala te njihov utjecaj na promjenu strukture obitelji.

World literature' has been much theorized and re-theorized in recent years as comparative literature for the globalized age. As it moves out of the Euro-American 'core' of earlier comparative literature, it embraces those of us who work on Asian, Middle Eastern and African literatures, spurring us on to participate in this broader conversation and engage more directly and explicitly with the categories and models that underpin world literature. 1 Yet its theoretical approaches based on world-system theory, diffusion and circulation, its geographical meta-categories such as 'world' and 'global', and its linear and teleological historical narratives that inevitably begin with Goethe all seem to imprison non-Western literatures in categories, timelines and explanations that do not fit, rather than genuinely interrogate them.

Este artículo reflexiona sobre C.-A. Sainte-Beuve y la condición de precursor de la literatura comparada que habitualmente se le ha atribuido. Es necesario señalar la importancia de sus estudios sobre Villemain o Ampère y su prólogo a la traducción francesa de las Conversaciones con Goethe de Eckermann. Pero también sobre el hecho de que leer a Sainte-Beuve como comparatista puede convertirse en una forma de prolongación de la hegemonía francesa en el seno del comparatismo europeo.

Hailing from Reading , Pennsylvania, who started her career at a young age of sixteen, she has been a critically acclaimed songwriter during her long enduring career of almost two decades. Her songwriting skills are slowly entering academics as they are worth noticing as a part of literature. Therefore, this paper aims to read a few of her songs in the light of a model of literariness, as provided by two Professors Emeritus, Dr. David S. Miall and Dr. Don Kuiken, who necessitates an integrated approach of three elements of literariness. This article conducts a broad comparative analysis of the idiomatic phrase "he lifted his eyes and saw the place from afar" in Gen 22:4 to elucidate its function within Gen 22. To begin, it shows that Rabbinic interpreters already saw the importance of this expression in understanding the pericope. Then, it traces the life of the idiom through comparisons with relevant Sumerian, Ugaritic, and biblical texts. From this evidence I argue that Gen 22:4 alludes to prophetic, divinatory, and theophanic activity in the Aqedah. Finally, the article considers the implications of this analysis for our understanding of the nature and role of (in)sight in the pericope, the characterization of Abraham as a prophet, and the significance of the place Abraham sees from afar.

En el caso de Colombia, la práctica de la disciplina histórica ha devenido
durante el siglo xx hasta hoy en el predominio de un ejercicio intelectual asociado con tres aspectos. El primero tiene que ver con la práctica de la escritura y el reconocimiento social que se conjugan en las labores de la Academia Colombiana de Historia y de asociaciones similares que funcionan a nivel local y regional, como los Centros de Historia. El segundo aspecto tiene que ver con las actividades de estas asociaciones, que han diseñado e implementado iniciativas para identificar, rescatar y enaltecer individuos o bienes patrimoniales que deben ser restaurados y conservados, como ha ocurrido con el rescate de piezas antiguas y edificaciones de los centros históricos de varias ciudades colombianas. Al mismo tiempo, estas agremiaciones han impulsado la creación y renovación de archivos
y bibliotecas, tanto en Bogotá como en algunas capitales departamentales, como ejes para la realización de las investigaciones históricas. Por último, el tercer aspecto tiene que ver con la apertura de espacios de formación en las universidades establecidas en las capitales departamentales, así como la presencia de las asignaturas de Historia y Geografía en la enseñanza primaria y secundaria. El análisis de cada uno de estos aspectos no se puede desplegar en la extensión disponible para este capítulo, pero, a continuación, se propone una descripción sintética de cada uno de ellos.

El presente artículo trata de entender la poesía de la artista y poeta  shipibo-konibo Chonon Bensho (Comunidad Nativa Santa Clara  de Yarinacocha, Región Ucayali, Perú, 1992), primero, en relación con  las problemáticas que surgen en torno a las desigualdades que establece  el pensamiento hegemónico de la modernidad respecto de la valoración de la oralidad y la escritura. A partir de esa problemática, y de los intentos de superarla, se analizan las aspiraciones y resignificaciones de la apuesta poética de Chonon en el contexto más amplio de la irrupción de poetas, artistas y pensadores indígenas en el espacio público nacional y en las  instituciones académicas-artísticas. Luego de esas reflexiones contextuales, se interpretará la epistemología visionaria y la ontología multinaturalista de la poesía de Chonon y su relación con el territorio ancestral, para, al f inal, a manera de conclusión, señalar la posibilidad de esta propuesta poética para interpelar a una civilización atravesada por las preocupaciones ecológicas y las consecuencias negativas de sus prácticas ecocidas.

Сажетак: У раду указујемо на извесне поетичке сродности између Франца кафке и Новице тадића које нису засноване на аргументима позитивистичке или материјалне природе о документованом извршеном утицају на нашег песника, већ се методолошки темеље на феномену типолошких аналогија. Наша хипотеза је да се у песничком свету Новице тадића могу препознати поједини кафкијански елементи, при чему кафкијанско ван кафкиног дела треба посматрати и разумети као једну врсту кôда, скупа карактеристичних стилистичких и тематских елемената, али и као својеврсну ауру, поетичко и егзистенцијално наслеђе и доживљај света који се, након кафкине смрти, у многобројним националним књижевностима, поетичким правцима/тенденцијама и жанровима на различите начине развијао и трансформисао.

Deleuze and Guattari are widely cited and referenced in a particular field-qualitative research in education. However, there does not seem to be an obvious connection, and tracing one involves contingent steps in academic politics as well as intellectual history. The very nature of deleuzian writing aims to break with conventional academic thought, and the works themselves display classic symptoms of traditional French 'academic discourse'. These characteristics particularly affect the most popular book for qualitative researchers-A Thousand Plateaus (ATP) (Deleuze and Guattari, 1987). This book presents formidable problems to any modern reader and there are a number of suggestions available about how students might read it. Six are considered, including one of my own, and these are critically evaluated.

Background Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a complex genetic disorder that causes spinal deformity in approximately 3% of the population. Candidate gene, linkage, and genome-wide association studies have sought to identify genetic variation that predisposes individuals to AIS, but the genetic basis remains unclear. Copy number variants are associated with several isolated skeletal phenotypes, but their role in AIS, to our knowledge, has not been assessed. Questions/Purposes We determined the frequency of recurrent copy number rearrangements, chromosome aneuploidy, and rare copy number variants in patients with AIS. Methods Between January 2010 and August 2014, we evaluated 150 patients with isolated AIS and spinal curvatures measuring 10°or greater, and 148 agreed to participate. Genomic copy number analysis was performed on patients and 1079 control subjects using the Affymetrix 1 Genomewide Human SNP Array 6.0. After removing poor quality samples, 143 (97%) patients with AIS were evaluated for copy number variation. Results We identified a duplication of chromosome 1q21.1 in 2.1% (N = 3/143) of patients with AIS, which was enriched compared with 0.09% (N = 1/1079) of control subjects (p = 0.0057) and 0.07% (N = 6/8329) of a large published control cohort (p = 0.0004). Other notable findings include trisomy X, which was identified in 1.8% (N = 2/114) of female patients with AIS, and rearrangements of chromosome 15q11.2 and 16p11.2 that previously have been associated with spinal phenotypes. Finally, we report rare copy number variants that will be useful in future studies investigating candidate genes for AIS.

Naguib Mahfouz's Children of the Alley (1959) has been extensively studied, often as a critique of religion. However, this analysis argues that its enduring relevance lies in its exploration of power, oppression, and intellectual resistance-issues that remain urgent in contemporary discourse. Rather than reinforcing colonial binaries of self/other, Mahfouz exposes how such divisions sustain hierarchies of gender, race, and class. This study offers a fresh perspective by examining Gabal as a prototypical organic intellectual (as defined by Antonio Gramsci) who challenges these structures. By applying postcolonial theory, particularly Gramsci's concept of organic intellectuals and Edward Said's analysis of power, this research uncovers overlooked tensions within resistance movements, including class and gender conflicts. Ultimately, the study advances debates on intellectual resistance by arguing that solidarity with all marginalized groups-not just one's own-can serve as the foundation for radical intellectual engagement.
