Présentation de quelques résultats préliminaires de la thèse (2h) dans le séminaire de Protohistoire égéenne de Master-Doctorat coordonné par Maïa Pomadère, Maîtresse de conférences en Protohistoire égéenne à l’Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne (Paris, France).
La séance s'articulait autour de trois approches : historiographique (Egypto-Aegean studies), textuelle (tablette BM EA 29558 ; enquête sur les navires-kftjw) et matérielle (corpus des céramiques égéennes dans la vallée du Nil).

Composé vers 810 par Raban Maur, alors qu'il séjournait dans le monastère de Fulda, le traité In honorem sanctae crucis a connu une très large diffusion au Moyen Âge, ainsi que l'atteste le nombre important de témoins conservés jusqu'au xvi e siècle 1 . Dès l'origine, ce traité se présente comme un opus geminum, avec une succession de poèmes figurés et de textes en prose traitant de la royauté de la croix du Christ, et plusieurs exemplaires exécutés du vivant de Raban pour être offerts à de puissants personnages revêtent toutes les caractéristiques des livres d'apparat : de dimensions imposantes, ils sont copiés et enluminés avec un grand soin par des artisans spécialisés 2 . Le manuscrit Paris, BnF latin 11685 3 ne déroge pas à la règle : exécuté dans le scriptorium de Saint-Germain-des-Prés peu après le milieu du xi e siècle 4 , il est l'oeuvre d'Ingelard, dont l'activité de copiste et d'enlumineur sous l'abbatiat d'Adelard (v. 1030-1060) a pu être aisément reconstituée d'après le colophon figurant dans l'un des

La chute de l'Union soviétique et du bloc de l'Est ont marqué avec flamboyance l'arrivée de l'ère du « post-». Avec elle, une nouvelle réalité, habitée de rêves et de peurs, s'est déployée, ouvrant de nouvelles perspectives aux populations directement touchées, ainsi qu'au reste du monde. Les reflets que renvoient le socialisme et le postsocialisme à l'imaginaire collectif sont d'ailleurs distincts, que l'on se trouve en Europe, en Asie ou en Amérique. En Europe, on associe de plus en plus le postsocialisme au phénomène des migrations et à l'adhésion d'une vaste population à l'Union européenne, transformant entre autres les rapports à l'économie, au travail et à l'ethnicité de part et d'autre de cette nouvelle entité politique. En Asie, le postsocialisme est généralement pensé à la lumière des transformations capitalistes que vivent la Chine et le Vietnam, alors que le Laos cherche à s'insérer dans cette dynamique, que la Corée du Nord fait chambre à part et que le Cambodge vit sa période « post-» sous l'emprise du développement international. En Amérique du Nord, les réalités du socialisme et du postsocialisme sont moins prégnantes et, selon plusieurs, elles demeurent encore liées à une certaine vision de la Guerre froide. En Amérique latine, ces réalités renvoient encore largement à la figure mythique et rebelle du Che, à l'obstination de Castro, et aux symboles des révolutions brimées des années 1960 et 1970. Avec l'union des pays d'Amérique du Sud que tentent de consolider Lula et Chavez, on constate depuis quelques années une réémergence de la fibre socialiste, ancrée dans l'exploitation du pétrole et des biocarburants. Cependant, le succès et la forme que prendra ce néo-socialisme du 21 e siècle demeurent encore incertains 1 . Mais au-delà de ces lieux communs, qu'entend-on réellement par socialisme et postsocialisme? Si les conceptions populaires en font quelque chose de statique ou d'achevé, est-ce que les socialismes actuels et passés sont en rupture avec la réalité post-ou en sont-ils partie prenante? Quelles sont leurs places dans le contexte mondial? Comment se constituent ces réalités? Voilà certaines des questions qui guident ce numéro. Elles nous amènent à explorer la pluralité et la complexité de ce que sont le socialisme et le postsocialisme, soulignant leur caractère pluriel et leurs interrelations. Cuáles son las conexiones entre prácticas visuales y procesos de creación artística? ¿Cómo se articulan las modalidades de la visión (Keifenheim, 1999:27-48; 2000) con la cosmología de una sociedad? ¿Qué relaciona un "acto de mirada" con un "pensamiento visual" (Severi, 2003a:100, 106)? Estas problemáticas forman parte de las líneas de investigación del grupo "Las formas expresivas en México, Centroamérica y el Suroeste de Estados Unidos. Dinámicas de creación y transmisión". Sus integrantes reflexionan a partir de algunas propuestas teóricas y metodológicas de la antropología del arte, esto es, "el estudio antropológico de las creaciones humanas, esencialmente plásticas, visuales, gestuales y musicales, sean de aquí o de otra parte, y de sus estéticas" (la traducción es de quien suscribe, Coquet, 2001:140). Asimismo, dialogan con disciplinas conexas como la arqueología, la historia y la sociología del arte, la iconología y las teorías filosóficas estéticas, la psicología del arte y las ciencias cognitivas. Su meta general es explorar las manifestaciones artísticas y estéticas a través del estudio comparativo en esta área geográfica y con una perspectiva pluridisciplinaria. En este artículo, se toma como punto de partida el caso del nierika de los huicholes (wixaritari) de la Sierra Madre Occidental. La premisa es que el análisis de este concepto clave ofrece valiosos elementos de reflexión acerca de una concepción de arte que se maneja en esta sociedad. Como descubriremos, el campo semántico que se despliega a partir de este término implica un recorte taxonómico que merece toda nuestra atención para entender los vínculos entre percepción y creación. Así, recorrer el "camino con nierika" (Negrín, 2005:38-43) implica a la vez inspirarse de un corpus colectivo de figuras iconográficas con referentes cosmológicos tradicionales y optar por una elección artística individual y original. Sobre todo, se relaciona con procesos de iniciación, creación y transmisión que destacan por su dinamismo y constante transformación. In this paper we first briefly survey the background of the development of INAA, and then present an overview of investigations in which INAA was utilized in the study of archaeological remains from the Land of Israel, from the early Prehistoric periods until the Middle Ages. Special focus is placed on studies that opened up new vistas and understandings
on various issues in the archaeological record.

Somewhere, every culture has an imaginary zone for what it excludes, and it is that zone that we must try to remember today. Catherine Clément, 'The Guilty One ' (1975) W hen Virginia Woolf gave her lecture 'Women and Fiction' at Cambridge in 1928, she sensed her deceased friend and kindred thinker Jane Ellen Harrison haunting the gardens of Newnham College. Harrison was something of a heretic in Cambridge's scholarly classical anthropology community, the main charge of blasphemy was her research that argued the existence of Neolithic goddess-worshipping communities. An early lodestone of feminist thinking around ancient spirituality, Harrison's descriptions of prehistoric, peaceful, matrifocal cultures and her female-centric reinterpretations of Ancient Greek religion and mythology were largely incompatible with the misogynistic Edwardian establishment that discredited and repressed her, even despite her many enthusiastic supporters. Among them was Woolf herself, who owned an autographed copy of Harrison's Ancient Art and Ritual (1913) and drew on it for her final novel, Between the Acts, published just after her death in 1941. Nearly fifty years after Harrison's death in 1974, the Lithuanian archaeologist Marija Gimbutas published The Goddesses and Gods of Old Europe, the first in a trilogy of books that lent further historical credence to the existence of Neolithic and Copper Age matrifocal and matrilineal communities in the region the scholar called 'Old Europe.'1 Like Harrison, Gimbutas was also stigmatised and undermined within the wider scholarly

The artistic evolution of a painter is shaped by myriad influences. In moments of solitude, they transpose their monologues, introspections, and insights onto the canvas. This tale unfolds the symbols of Farrukh Shahab, who has nurtured his imagination with literature and mysticism and rendered those insights artistically. In Farrukh Shahab's paintings, the intellectual insights and mastery of skills are evident. His captivating artwork urges viewers to gaze the subject from a novel perspective.
In recent decades, Farrukh Shahab's approach to art has undergone a drastic transformation from his earlier works. Primarily mentored in realistic paintings by the eminent artist Iqbal Mehdi, Farrukh started his journey in the classical style of painting, following the traditions of his mentor. His focus was on themes of femininity and beauty, which he depicted with exquisite skill, earning acclaim from art enthusiasts and admiration from teachers for his exceptional talent in this genre. During that period, his wife, Shaheen Khan, frequently graced his canvases as the central muse of his paintings.
Over the past two decades, Farrukh Shahab's artistic trajectory has veered markedly from classics. Rather than adhering to the calmness typical of classical art, his canvases now burst with vibrant hues and strenuous brushwork, exploding a palpable sense of intrinsic energy. This departure from his conventional techniques features an insightful expressiveness and spontaneity in his color compositions and styles.

Ce troisième et dernier volet d'Une histoire de l'art d'après Auschwitz se penche sur la façon dont un certain nombre d'artistes contemporains ont contribué à configurer la mémoire de l'événement sur le long terme. Configurations part du constat que le pouvoir d'instauration de la figure humaine, traditionnellement prêté à l'art depuis la Renaissance, s'est perdu après Auschwitz. Bien que nombre de figures d'après l'événement ressemblent encore à celles d'avant, elles sont cependant devenues en grande partie méconnaissables : leurs visages sont décontenancés, leurs corps oblitérés et les paysages alentour disloqués. Si elles passent malgré cela pour des figures habituelles désormais, c'est qu'un certain habitus visuel s'est constitué dans l'ombre portée de l'événement et à partir de lui. Les configurations qui en résultent impliquent une part de mémoire, elles se chargent au passage d'autres mémoires autant qu'elles se compliquent d'une part d'oubli. Qu'on ne s'étonne plus aujourd'hui d'évoluer parmi des foules de figures aux formes quasi-spectrales devrait pourtant susciter quelque étonnement. C'est tout le sens de cette Histoire de l'art d'après Auschwitz que de chercher à comprendre les causes et les conséquences de cette habituation et de l'omission qui l'accompagne. Aussi ce dernier tome inscrit-il à présent l'évolution historique qu'on a retracée jusque-là dans une perspective théorique qui sollicite, entre autres, le concours critique de pensées aussi différentes que celles de Theodor Adorno, d'Emmanuel Levinas, de Paul Ricoeur, de Michel Foucault, de Gilles Deleuze, ou encore de Pierre Bourdieu.

Middling women dress in the same way, but of cheaper cloth, and slaves and low-class women are apparelled only from the waist down, otherwise going naked. 1 So announced Filippo Pigafetta in a passage on "the clothing of that people, before they became Christians, and after" in his 1591 Account of the Kingdom of Kongo and Surrounding Lands, Based on the Writings and Words of the Portuguese Duarte Lopez. A Portuguese merchant who spent 1578-83 in west Central Africa, Lopez then served as envoy of King Alvare I of Kongo to papal Rome, where he met and frequently conversed with the Italian Pigafetta, himself a one-time papal emissary; out of these meetings was born the Account. 2 Lopez was one of many European merchants, missionaries, and travelers who reported on the lifeways of the diverse peoples with whom they came in contact across the nascent Atlantic world. Some of their works were sketchy, superficial, filled with errors and fabrications. Others, however, were discerning, richly detailed, protoethnographic expositions, frequently accompanied by engravings that illustrated or supplemented the text. Despite inaccuracies, omissions, and blind spots, writings of the latter type make it possible to delineate Atlantic dress regimes just as movement and exchange began to intensify throughout the basin from the early seventeenth century.

In mijn lezing ga ik kort in op enkele verschillende opvattingen en maatschappelijke benaderingen over wat kunst is (en hoe die tot een uitspraak kunnen leiden als die uit de titel, van wijlen filmcriticus Roger Ebert). Vanuit een cultureel-cognitieve invalshoek behandel ik vervolgens de verschillen tussen een entertainmentervaring en een kunstervaring enerzijds, en tussen een esthetische en een artistieke ervaring anderzijds. Daarbij geef ik enkele voorbeelden van spelvormen die semiotisch zijn, en dus naar iets kunnen verwijzen, en spelvormen die dat niet zijn, en alleen naar zichzelf verwijzen. Ook laat ik zien welke gamegebeurtenissen mogelijk aanzetten tot een artistieke ervaring. Ten slotte zet ik enkele zogeheten 'artgames' af tegen enkele mainstream-entertainmentgames die wellicht ook een 'kunstervaring' kunnen opwekken. Tongkonan is the life of the Toraja people because that's where all their values ​​and aesthetics are. In it there are not only functions as residential houses but there are social functions and power, traditional and cultural values, and religious values. But the passage of time and the development of the modern era as well as the influence of culture from the outside to make a shift and change the function and value of the actual Tongkonan so much to cause conflicts in the family and community. Many perspectives from the Toraja generation emerge. This study aims to identify and describe how the perspective of the older generation and young generation of Toraja on the function and value of Tongkonan. Researchers chose respondents who live in Toraja by snowball. The researcher uses the semi-structured interview as an instrument to obtain data and a qualitative description method in analyzing data. Body, as a medium, has been carrying multiple artefacts on its surface ever since its very existence. Despite the emergence of various forms of media that open new possibilities to decipher meanings associated to a text, body has a significant role in being an open medium to imprint messages and actively participate in conferring meanings to the world. Body is not just a matter and substance, but a medium that generates and carries messages; a vehicle to transport information. Tattooing the body to permanently deploy the messages on its surface as an act of marking identity, social status, cultural symbol is a practice since civilization. The reappearance and penetration of the historically stigmatised tattooed bodies into the mainstream from the last quarter of the 20th century reminds to recognize body as a valuable and a preferred medium to communicate a message. Considering urban spaces as super spreaders of the body modification, the phenomenal growth of the tattoo parlours in the past one and half decade in India is an area hardly explored. My paper focuses on how body in producing messages in the form of tattoos. The methodology includes focus group discussions with the tattoo artists and informal interviews with the tattoo consumers.

Over the past hundred years, artefacts produced by people with mental disabilities or who live various forms of social marginalization have been collected, investigated, exhibited and discussed. However, absolute criteria to consider them as works of art or, on the contrary, as mere expressive productions without aesthetic qualities are yet to come. Still, it is now possible to trace the history of the matter, hence to infer useful elements for a general reflection. Paying a specific attention to the case of the City of Turin, that holds one of the oldest and richest Art Brut collections in Italy (eg. Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography), the history of this process is here reconstructed connecting the international with the local emergence of this production. Furthermore, the dialogue now going on with irregular and contemporary artworks in exhibitions and projects is also investigated.

En una época donde el arte contemporáneo se ve cada vez más intervenido por las tecnologías digitales, el propósito del presente ensayo es hacer una crítica al monopolio del capital que impone su lógica mercantilista sobre los procesos creativos de los nuevos trabajadores que intentan resistir desde las producciones artesanales. A través de un análisis crítico, y por medio de una metodología abductiva, el presente ensayo intenta explicar cómo el aura de la obra de arte nunca dejó de estar presente incluso en los espacios culturales más periféricos. Si bien es cierto que el aura, como categoría estética, ha caído en desuso desde que Walter Benjamin la puso en entredicho, es importante señalar que su empleo nos permite entender que las piezas artesanales son productos que se resisten a ser parte de la narrativa hegemónica del arte contemporáneo. En este contexto donde la obra de arte se convirtió en un artículo de lujo, la labor del artesano toma fuerza como ejemplo de rebeldía frente a un sistema que tiende a precarizar al sujeto creativo.

L'articolo propone una lettura de La voce umana di Gorgio Agamben (2023) nel contesto dello sviluppo della sua filosofia del linguaggio, e si concentra in particolare sulle conseguenze della sua teoria della “voce” per la sua definizione della natura umana. Agamben stabilisce un legame inestricabile tra voce umana e natura umana, ma la sua teoria della voce come ciò che deve essere (inclusivamente) escluso per far emergere il discorso significante (logos) condanna anche la definizione della natura umana a un infinito differimento. Poiché una “vera” voce umana emergerà solo quando la divisione tra phonè e logos sarà superata, solo questo superamento permetterà una “vera” definizione della natura umana. Particolare attenzione è rivolta al fatto che questa teoria vede la voce umana, e quindi gli esseri umani, come un’eccezione a una presunta uniforme animalità, sostenendo così – forse involontariamente – una forma di eccezionalismo umano.

A complexa questão da transmisão de saberes e do patrimônio cultural no Brasil constitui-se, possivelmente, como um dos campos mais desafiadores para a análise historiográfica contemporânea, uma vez que envolve múltiplas camadas de significação e diferentes vertentes interpretativas que, por vezes, parecem se contradizer ou, no mínimo, estabelecer relações nem sempre evidentes entre si. Nesse sentido, talvez seja pertinente iniciar esta discussão apresentando algumas considerações sobre o próprio conceito de patrimônio cultural e sua trajetória institucional no país.

Les programmes scolaires de Langues et Cultures de l'Antiquité donnent à l'image d'oeuvres d'art, comme support de cours, une place importante, parfois miroir des textes. Moyen simple et immédiat à l'heure du numérique en classe d'accéder aux artefacts célèbres ou rares de l'antiquité, l'image de céramiques, de sculptures, d'éléments d'architecture, voire de reconstitutions en 3D, composent pour l'enseignant et l'élève un musée virtuel. Aussi utile qu'il soit, ce musée prend cependant le risque de pétrifier les oeuvres et leurs images, en gommant ou en passant sous silence les écarts féconds entre les mentalités anciennes et les nôtres, que relève l'anthropologie historique et qu'évoquent en préambule les programmes du second degré .

This article defines the spatial configuration of the large pre-colonial site in the present-day city of Santarém on the lower Amazon, Brazil, demonstrating a settlement pattern consisting of two villages separated by a seasonal lake. The sites Aldeia (121 ha) and Porto (89 ha) form part of the largest archaeological complex found today in any urban area of Amazonia. The article describes the research methods employed, including augering, geophysical prospecting, and stratigraphic excavation, and presents the contexts of cultural occupation, as well as the chronology, which confirms the contemporaneity of these sites between A.D. 1200 and 1600. Both sites are habitational, while the Aldeia site appears to have been a ceremonial center with features for depositing shamanic artifacts. The article argues that although evidence has been found for a hierarchy of sites within the region, this does not imply political centralization but rather situates the Aldeia site as a place of ritual convergence, thus pointing to other ways of thinking about social complexity.

In this article, we suggest that archaeologists should recognise the limitations of the term “artefact”, because it does not capture the many ways that diverse groups think about and interact with such objects. There are two important reasons for doing this. First, as we show through numerous examples, archaeologists’ conception of portable material objects as “artefacts” is narrow and unlikely to align with the conceptions by the people who left them behind. Second, like the terms “prehistory” and “human remains”, “artefact” is a settler-colonialist construct that elevates Western scientific jargon above terminology that other stakeholders may see as more respectful or appropriate. As an alternative to the term “artefact”, this article explores “belongings” as a way to open up understandings of the many different meanings associated with archaeological objects and to refer more inclusively to them in diverse contexts.

TIAMSA is an international professional and academic organization dedicated to the study of art markets of all regions and periods and to developing an infrastructure which supports both research and networking among art market professionals and scholars working in the area. Its membership comprises both individual members (collectors, art world professionals, scholars, and students from across a wide range of disciplines), as well as corporate, institutional, and association members.

W artykule postaram się, za amerykańską badaczką Miwon Kwon, zdefiniować pojęcie sztuki w przestrzeni publicznej i przywołam biografie jej wybranych realizacji. Wskażę na to, jak istotnym kryterium wpływającym na ich ocenę jest stopień zaangażowania publiczności. Pokażę, w jaki sposób do zbadania fenomenu uczestnictwa w projektach sztuki w przestrzeni publicznej można zastosować perspektywę antropologiczną reprezentowaną przez Alfreda Gella. Rozważania zilustruję przykładami zaczerpniętymi z moich badań nad fenomenem rzeźby Tęcza Julity Wójcik postawionej w latach 2012-2015 na placu Zbawiciela w Warszawie. Odniosę się też do filmu dokumentalnego pt. "Punkt zapalny" w reżyserii Wojciecha Jankowskiego z 2019 r.

Neutrality as a contentious topic: Museums cannot be seen to be neutral when addressing certain topics, such as decolonization. Museums sometimes benefit from adopting a neutral stance in certain contexts, such as in difficult political contexts to prevent the escalation of tensions and to gain legitimacy.

Мета дослідження полягає у висвітленні тематичних напрямів наукового студіювання європейськими вченими теоретичних та практичних основ взаємозв'язку антропології та мистецтва. Методологія дослідження. У відповідності до поставленої мети обрано комплекс дослідницьких методик сучасного мистецтвознавства, що базуються на антропологічному підході до аналізу мистецьких явищ, а також методи евристичного та герменевтичного пізнання у поєднанні із бібліографічним та історіографічним. Використання вказаного комплексу дослідницьких методик сприяло отриманню власних результатів. Наукова новизна одержаних результатів полягає у постановці і розробці актуальної, малодослідженої у вітчизняному мистецтвознавстві теми антропології мистецтва. Результати студіювання сприятимуть розвитку мистецтвознавчої науки і можуть слугувати важливою складовою у дослідженні взаємозв'язку сучасного мистецтва та антропології. Висновки. Історіографічний аналіз засвідчив наявність активного наукового дискурсу щодо місця і ролі мистецтва в антропології та її впливу на теорію мистецтвознавства і практику мистецтва. Робиться висновок про те, що антропологія мистецтва постає як теоретична основа мистецьких практик, розглядає митця як соціальнозначущий феномен, що продукує внутрішню рефлексію на суспільні процеси. Важливість взаємозв'язку між антропологією та сучасним мистецтвом давно визнана, однак, дискусія ведеться, як правило, серед науковців з Північної Америки, Європи та Австралії. Дослідження та антропологічний досвід інших регіонів значною мірою відсутній у дебатах.

Fecha de recepción: mayo del 2010 Fecha de aceptación y versión final: octubre del 2010 RESUMEN: El chamán amerindio siempre ha tenido como su mayor tarea de restaurar la harmonía cósmica, sea en forma individual, como en curaciones, o en forma colectiva, como en el caso de un pueblo afectado por una plaga. Esta contribución trata de llevar adelante un aspecto muchas veces ignorado, la actuación del chamán en casos de conflictos armados. El caso etnográfico proviene de los ‗weenhayek, un pueblo recolector del Gran Chaco. Entre esta gente, el chamán jugaba un rol importante en la estrategia y la actuación de los guerreros. Para entender las diferentes facetas de las actividades bélicas, se sugiere una vista holística del chamanismo y de los estudios societales en general.

Музей или архив-тихое место. От имени экспонатов говорят их исследователи. Воссоздавая звуковые паттерны прошлого, они нередко исходят не столько из свойств музейных артефактов, сколько из сведений, почерпнутых в трудах музыковедов прошлого, по возможности привлекая разного рода контекстную информацию. Звучание само по себе-до появления фонографа и восковых валиков-не могло быть «законсервировано», но косвенные сведения о нем хранят предметы, проходящие по ведомству археологии (музыкальные инструменты, а чаще их фрагменты), искусствоведения (картины, скульптуры, мозаика, фрески и другие фрагменты декора), музыковедения (различные формы нотации). Исторический контекст восполнялся с опорой на тексты книг, важнейшей из которых выступала Библия. Наиболее ранние примеры нотной фиксации напевов, с которыми полагалось читать Священное Писание, представлены в труде основоположника христианской каббалы Иоганнеса Рейхлина. Современные методики далеко не всегда позволяют безошибочно идентифицировать звуковоспроизводящие орудия, реконструировать их строй. Еще сложнее восстановить репертуар, определить исполнительскую ситуацию и ее обрядовый контекст. В статье сравниваются возможности извлечения информации о звуковых кодах прошлого из разных источников, а результаты исследований соотносятся с живой традицией. Материалом для изучения послужили артефакты, относящиеся к культуре древних народов Ближнего Востока, а также европейской христианской традиции, интерпретирующей Ветхий Завет.

Vivenciamos a trajetória de uma usuária-guia no tratamento para tuberculose multidroga resistente (TB-MDR). As narrativas das redes vivas na produção de cuidado apontam para os seguintes itens: 1) cuidar no ato de viver: suplantar os estigmas e cultivar vínculos que ajudem a superar os discursos fomentados pelo medo, preconceitos, exclusão e invisibilidade dos sujeitos; 2) redes vivas de cuidado: os entremeios da norma; e 3) as interfaces de atenção usuário-trabalhador da saúde: como desmistificar o julgamento dos trabalhadores da saúde, que, subordinados a protocolos limitantes, muitas vezes estigmatizam o usuário como "abandonador de tratamento"?. A usuária-guia vislumbrou que cuidar é se desterritorializar, é colocar os desejos como potência para transformação, saindo do modus operandi rumo à criatividade, tendo o usuário no centro do processo. In questo articolo, mi propongo di riflettere sulla nozione di mondo come spettro, inteso sia come forza spaventosa sia come orizzonte di immaginazione piena di speranza. In particolare, mi concentro sul modo in cui un tipo di museo, che chiamo «museo del mondo», viene mobilitato e concettualizzato come contenitore e custode del mondo. Esamino anche i modi in cui questo tipo di museo è stato creato nell’Europa moderna con la funzione di catturare, afferrare, conservare e mettere in mostra un’idea astratta del «mondo là fuori», che è marcatamente diversa da «noi», le spettatrici e gli spettatori di questi musei. Questo tipo di spettro museale è definibile come revenant: come non-morto, come uno zombie, che (seguendo il doppio senso
derridiano di ritorno), ritorna dal passato al presente, come il concetto di difficult heritage definito di Sharon Macdonald (2009) o
ancora di più, come le voci silenziose delle «collezioni sensibili» concettualizzato da Britta Lange (2011, 2019). Questo spettro del
mondo si copre con il suo lenzuolo bianco; è una trappola, una violenza, un’intimidazione. Cerca di instillare la stessa ansia in
tutti noi, incute paura e impone la sottomissione. Dà all’egemonia dell’universalismo mondano la sua forma spettrale.

There are not many prehistoric remains and those that have reached us often come severely eroded, covered by the thickness of the new cities that were built over, or are hidden inside ancient structures that have been used and renovated over many centuries. But architecture is such an elemental component of the human culture, such a direct representation of their priorities, that enormous quantity of data can be extracted from their analysis, data that are the missing pieces of a great deal of the prehistoric puzzle.
