The present study investigated the emotional maturity and intelligence of secondary school students Assam. The study was conducted on one thousand class-X students by giving due representation to boys (500) and girls (500) as well as rural and urban localities of both the districts. The schools were selected using stratified random sampling technique, and students were selected using simple random sampling technique. The descriptive survey method is used for data collection using emotional maturity scale constructed and standardized by M. Bhargava and Y. Singh (1990) and group test of mental ability constructed and standardized by Dr. S.Jalota. The findings of the study reported that there is a negative relationship between emotional maturity and intelligence among the secondary school students of whole sample of both the districts.

The study was conducted on one thousand class-X students by giving due representation to boys (500) and girls (500) as well as rural and urban localities of Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts of Assam. The schools were selected using stratified random sampling technique, and students were selected using simple random sampling technique.The descriptive survey method is used for data collection. The present study investigated the emotional maturity of secondary school students in Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts of Assam. This study is conducted on a sample of 1000 Students, out of 1000 students 500 boys and 500 girls selected randomly from 32 Government and Private secondary schools of both districts of Assam. The descriptive survey method is used for data collection using Emotional Maturity Scale (M. Bhargava and Y. Singh (1990). The finding of the study reported that there was not any significant difference in various areas of emotional maturity of government and private school students; no significant difference in the emotional maturity level of boys and girls school students; and there is no significant difference between in the emotional maturity level of rural and urban secondary school students of both districts of Assam.

Emotional intelligence is considered as an important ability for a well balance life. In human life, it has a great importance. It always helps people to manage their own emotion, aware about it as well as others too. The present study is an attempt to study about emotional intelligence of secondary school students of Kamrup (M) district. Here descriptive survey method is used. The population of this study consists of all the students studying in secondary school of Guwahati city of Kamrup (M) District. Out of these, 156 students have been selected from 4 secondary schools, where 78 numbers of girls and 78 numbers of boys are there. Emotional maturity refers to ability to understand, and manage, emotions. Emotional maturity enables to create the life desire. A life filled with happiness and fulfillment; define success in our own terms, not societies, and strive to achieve it. Emotional development is one of the major aspects of human growth and development. The aim of the present study is to examine the emotional maturity level among the students of higher secondary schools. Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) developed and administrated by investigator self was used to measure emotional maturity of students. The study comprised to a small sample of 100 students of four Higher Secondary Schools from based on rural and urban areas in Bongaon Town, State of West Bengal. The reliability was calculated which were 0.72. After analysis of the results, it was found that all H.S. School students have emotionally matured. The results revealed that there is no significant difference in Emotional Maturity of H.S. School Level students based on their Gender and Location.

Emotional Intelligence can be defined as the ability to monitor one"s own and other people"s emotions, to discriminate between different emotions and label them appropriately and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. Emotional Intelligence is correlated with different variables like socioeconomic status, adjustment and scholastic achievement. Emotional Intelligence is considered as one of the most important aspects in one"s life because it can help in maintaining SocioEconomic Status, developing Adjustment skills and achieving Scholastic Achievement in one"s life. The main focus of this study is to know the levels of SocioEconomic Status, Adjustment and Scholastic Achievement of Higher Secondary Students of Sivasagar District of Assam and find out the relationship between the variables. For the present study Mangal Emotional Intelligence Inventory(MEII) developed and standardized by Dr S.K.Mangal and Mrs Shubhra Mangal, Bell"s Adjustment Inventory(BAI) developed and standardized by Dr R.K.Ojha and SocioEconomic Status Scale(SESS) developed and standardized by Rajiv Lochan Bharadwaz were selected and adapted by the researcher herself. Emotional Intelligence of Higher Secondary Students is found to be negatively skewed in the present study and there no significant correlation is found between Emotional Intelligence of Higher Secondary Students and their SocioEconomic Status, Adjustment and Scholastic Achievement.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the emotional maturity in an adolescent group of 14 to 17 years of age. 173 students from a higher secondary school of Anand district participated in the study. The emotional maturity scale developed by Dr. Tara Sabapathy was used for assessing the emotional maturity of the participants. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and understand the participants’ emotional maturity using STATA14 software. The majority of the participants (70.5%) had average emotional maturity, 21.3% participants had above average emotional maturity, 5.2% participants had below average emotional maturity and less than 3% of the participants had emotional maturity levels in the extremes (i.e. extremely low, low, high and extremely high). Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the emotional maturity levels between boys and girls.

The ability which helps an individual to identify and manage his own emotions as well as of others is called emotional intelligence. It is one of the most potent regulating and directing forces of behavior. Emotions can run wild and bring havoc into one's life. 'Emotional atyachar' can make one's life unbearable while the other part of it is very much positive. Due to lack of emotional intelligence an individual can do any sort of unexpected antisocial activities. The success and failure in an examination is also greatly determined by E.Q. The purpose of the present study is to find out the emotional intelligence level among the secondary school students in general and the difference in their emotional intelligence level between the students groups residing at biological homes and in Satras in particular. The sample for the present study comprised of total 60 respondents: thirty (30) adolescents from Satras, and an equivalent number of students from biological family of Majuli district, Assam. Emotional intelligence level of the respondents has been assessed by using a standardized Emotional Intelligence Inventory (EII) developed by Dr. S.K. Mangal and Subhra Mangal. In the present study, it is observed that most of the students staying at satra and biological families exhibited poor level of emotional intelligence. No significant difference found between the respondents staying at Satra and Biological families with regard to level of emotional intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence (EI) refers to one’s ability to recognize and understand emotions, manage and control emotions, harness emotions to get motivated and to take appropriate action, understand the feelings of others and build relationships and negotiate conflict. Emotional intelligence is considered as one of the important aspects in one’s life. In fact, it is believed that a person’s Emotional Quotient (EQ) may be more important than their Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and is certainly a better predictor of success, quality of relationships, and overall happiness. Emotional intelligence is also important in maintaining one’s physical health, mental wellbeing and good leadership. Therefore, the researcher has selected the present study. The objectives of the present study are to find out the levels of Emotional Intelligence of Higher Secondary School students of Sivasagar district of Assam and to compare the levels of Emotional Intelligence of (i) boys and girls students, (ii) the students of the Arts& Science streams and (iii) rural and urban higher secondary school students. The researchers selected a sample of 840 Higher Secondary school students from the Educational Institutions of Sivasagar district of Assam. For the present study Mangal Emotional Intelligence Inventory (MEII) developed and standardized by Dr.S.K.Mangal and Mrs Shubhra Mangal was selected and it was adapted by the researchers. It is found from the present study that the distribution of Emotional Intelligence scores of Higher Secondary school students of Sivasagar district of Assam is negatively skewed. There is no significant difference between mean MEII scores of boys and girls higher secondary school students. There is a significant difference between the Higher Secondary School students studying in Arts and Science stream as far as their Emotional Intelligence is concerned. There is no significant difference between the mean MEII scores of rural and urban Higher Secondary School students.
