Using a high statistics sample of photoproduced charm particles from the FOCUS experiment at Fermilab, we compare the lifetimes of neutral D mesons decaying via D 0 → K -π + and K -K + to measure the lifetime differences between CP even and CP odd final states. These measurements bear on the phenomenology of D 0 -D0 mixing. If the D 0 → K -π + is an equal mixture of CP even and CP odd eigenstates, we measure y CP = (Γ(CP even) -Γ(CP odd))/(Γ(CP even) + Γ(CP odd)) = 0.0342 ± 0.0139 ± 0.0074.

Using the large hadroproduced charm sample collected in experiment E791 at Fermilab, we report the first directly measured constraint on the decay-width difference ∆Γ for the mass eigenstates of the D 0 -D 0 system. We obtain our result from lifetime measurements of the decays D 0 → K − π + and D 0 → K − K + , under the assumption of CP invariance, which implies that the CP eigenstates and the mass eigenstates are the same. The lifetime of D 0 → K − K + (the CP-even final state) is τKK = 0.410 ± 0.011 ± 0.006 ps, and the lifetime of D 0 → K − π + (an equal mixture of CPodd and CP-even final states) is τKπ = 0.413 ± 0.003 ± 0.004 ps. The decay-width difference is ∆Γ = 2(ΓKK − ΓKπ) = 0.04 ± 0.14 ± 0.05 ps −1 . We relate these measurements to measurements of mixing in the neutral D-meson system. PACS numbers: 14.40 Lb, 12.38.Qk

The MARK III collaboration has collected a large sample of D mesons produced at the Ψ(3770) resonance. The reconstruction of several thousand hadronic D decays makes possible for the first time the reconstruction of exclusive semileptonic D decays. Absolute branching ratios are measured for the nine decays D0 → K- e+ νe, D0 → K- π0 e+ νe, D0 → K̅0 π- e+ νe, D+ → K̅0 e+ νe, D+ → K- π+ e+ νe, D0 → π- e+ νe, D0 → K- μ+ νμ, D0 → K̅0 π- μ+ νμ, and D+ → K̅0 μ+ νμ. The sums of the exclusive branching ratios are in good agreement with the inclusive semileptonic branching ratios measured by the MARK III. The rate of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays is consistent with the predicted rate. The contribution of the K*(892) to the K-π invariant mass spectrum for decays of the type D → K π e+ νe is found to be about 55%. The vector form factor in the decays D0 → K- e+ νe and D0 → K- μ+ νμ is measured and found to be consistent with a simple pole form.

We report precise measurements of the D O and D + meson lifetimes by the E687 Collaboration at Fermilab. The measurements have been made using 16 000 fully reconstructed decays of the D o into the K-~ + and K-n+~z-~ + final states and 9000 decays of the D + into the K-~ +~ + final state. The lifetimes of the D o and D + mesons are measured to be 0.413 + 0.004_ 0.003 ps and 1.048 _+ 0.015 _+ 0.011 ps respectively.

A measurement of the ratios of the effective decay widths of D 0 → π − π þ and D 0 → K − K þ decays over that of D 0 → K − π þ decays is performed with the LHCb experiment using proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb −1. These observables give access to the charm mixing parameters y ππ CP − y Kπ CP and y KK CP − y Kπ CP , and are measured as y ππ CP − y Kπ CP ¼ ð6.57 AE 0.53 AE 0.16Þ × 10 −3 , y KK CP − y Kπ CP ¼ ð7.08 AE 0.30 AE 0.14Þ × 10 −3 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The combination of the two measurements is y CP − y Kπ CP ¼ ð6.96 AE 0.26 AE 0.13Þ × 10 −3 , which is four times more precise than the previous world average.

Using a large sample of photoproduced charm mesons from the FOCUS experiment at Fermilab (FNAL-E831), we observe the decay D 0 → K + π − with a signal yield of 149 ± 31 events compared to a similarly cut sample consisting of 36 760±195 D 0 → K − π + events. We use the observed ratio of D 0 → K + π − to D 0 → K − π + (0.404 ± 0.085 ± 0.025)% to obtain a relationship between the D 0 mixing and doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay parameters. 13.25.Ft, 12.15.Ff, 14.40.Lb Typeset using REVT E X

Time-integrated CP asymmetries in D 0 decays to the final states K − K + and π − π + are measured using proton-proton collisions corresponding to 3 fb −1 of integrated luminosity collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV. The D 0 mesons are produced in semileptonic b-hadron decays, where the charge of the accompanying muon is used to determine the initial flavour of the charm meson. The difference in CP asymmetries between the two final states is measured to be ∆A CP = A CP (K − K +) − A CP (π − π +) = (+0.14 ± 0.16 (stat) ± 0.08 (syst))%. A measurement of A CP (K − K +) is obtained assuming negligible CP violation in charm mixing and in Cabibbo-favoured D decays. It is found to be A CP (K − K +) = (−0.06 ± 0.15 (stat) ± 0.10 (syst))% , where the correlation coefficient between ∆A CP and A CP (K − K +) is ρ = 0.28. By combining these results, the CP asymmetry in the D 0 → π − π + channel is A CP (π − π +) = (−0.20 ± 0.19 (stat) ± 0.10 (syst))%.

A study of mixing and indirect CP violation in D 0 mesons through the determination of the parameters y CP and A Γ is presented. The parameter y CP is the deviation from unity of the ratio of effective lifetimes measured in D 0 decays to the CP eigenstate K + K − with respect to decays to the Cabibbo favoured mode K − π + . The result measured using data collected by LHCb in 2010, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 29 pb −1 , is y CP = (5.5 ± 6.3 stat ± 4.1 syst ) × 10 −3 .
