Апстракт: Црквата „Св. Димитриј“ во село Броштица во Цен
тарот Жупа, според документацијата во НУ НКЦ – Скопје, поседу
вала 14 икони, изработени од различни автори во еден поширок вре
менски дијапазон (XVII−XIX век) на кои во поново време им се губи
трагата. Нашиот интерес за овие икони првенствено се води од
желбата тие да не бидат заборавени во времето, а поради својата
историско-уметничка вредност сепак, макар и само според располо
живата документација, да влезат во кругот на интересот на струч
но-научните кругови пред сè за разбирањето на зографските текови
во Дебарско-реканскиот регион. И секако, што не е помалку важно,
да се потсети за горката реалност во однос на состојбата со кул
турното наследство, кое секојдневно неповратно го губиме поради
сеопшта негрижа или кражби. На овој начин тежнееме уште еднаш
да се потсети, дека за овие икони треба да се одржи интересот и да
се вложи напор истите да бидат пронајдени и вратени во матична
та црква каде што припаѓаат.

Στη μελέτη αυτή θα αναφερθούμε στο έργο του σχετικά άγνωστου αγιογράφου του 18ου αι. Θεοφάνους εκ Καισαρείας. Πολύ λίγοι έχουν ασχοληθεί
με το αγιογραφικό έργο του, το οποίο είναι πλούσιο και αξιόλογο, και οι
οποιεσδήποτε αναφορές είναι διάσπαρτες σε διάφορα βιβλία1
και αποκομμένες από μια συνολική θεώρηση και καταγραφή του. Η έρευνα δεν έφτασε
ακόμη έως τούτη την αγιογραφική πνοή, που φύσηξε από την ανατολή στον
τόπο μας. Επίσης, μας δίνεται η αφορμή να υπογραμμίσουμε τον αδιάσπαστο και συνεχή σύνδεσμο της Κύπρου με την Ανατολή, τη Μικρά Ασία,
και στον τομέα της αγιογραφικής τέχνης

This article brings together four episodes of French 19th century museal
history through which to explore the tensions inherent to incorporating
the (material) culture of others – in this case Pre-Columbian America
– into national collections, and the process through which they become
part of a national patrimoine. As a guiding thread, we use not a particular
collection but the idea of “American French collections” and their association to a specific type of national institution that used them abundantly in its historical genealogy: the idea of a “French national museum of ethnography.”
We offer a historical panorama where Amerindian and Pre-Columbian
French collections found themselves at the heart of several debates
regarding the definition and function of the museum and during which the
need to “repair” – either an object, a national institution or a concept – was invoked.

тставата на Страшниот суд од црквата „Успение на Пресвета Богородица“ во Гари, чиешто сликарство настанало во 1866 година како дело на работилницата на Дичо Зограф, а врз него била направена преслика кон крајот на XIX век од страна на рабо тилницата на браќата Андонови од Гари. Покрај традиционалните елементи, кои се задолжителен елемент на византиската и постви зантиската иконографија на Страшниот суд, во претставата од Гари среќаваме низа решенија кои говорат за новиот третман на темата, карактеристичен за периодот на XIX век. Компаративните анализи укажуваат дека како прототип за ликовното вообличување на оваа композиција послужиле хартиените икони со претставата на Страшниот суд кои биле создавани во светогорските манастири во периодот од 1820 до 1860 година.

Dissertando intorno al mondo della matita, non può che venire in mente Paulo Coelho con la sua ‘Storia della matita’1 dal libro Sono come il fiume che scorre, dove lo scrittore, narrando del dialogo fra nonna e nipote, coglie l’occasione di ragionare intorno alle cinque qualità della matita trasponendo in lei profondi significati. ... Ecco la quinta qualità della matita: essa lascia sempre un segno. Allo stesso modo, tutto ciò che farai nella vita lascerà una traccia: di conseguenza impegnati per avere piena coscienza di ogni tua azione ..., (ndr, aggiungiamo), e non sempre questa si cancella.

This study examines five 19 th-century icons portraying St. Naum of Ohrid, originating from the Prilep`s churches of the Annunciation, the Transfiguration, and that of Sts. Cyril and Methodius. Through iconographic analysis, the research seeks to elucidate the artistic conventions underlying the depiction of St. Naum within the 19 th-century Orthodox iconographic traditions. Meanwhile, the stylistic analysis aims to identify the artistic circles and influences within which these works were created and circulated. The icons preserved in the Prilep`s churches constitute a vital source for exploring the visual representation of the saint during this period and for tracing the spread and entrenchment of his cult throughout Macedonia. By integrating iconographic and stylistic approaches, this paper offers a nuanced understanding of the interplay between the artistic practices and the religious dynamics in the region, shedding light on the synthesis between the tradition and the localized artistic expression.

Ο Μυστράς αποτελεί από το 1989 μνημείο της Παγκόσμιας Πολιτισμικής Κληρονομιάς της UNESCO λόγω της αρχαιολογικής, ιστορικής και θρησκευτικής του σημασίας. Ο τοιχογραφικός διάκοσμος των εκκλησιών του Μυστρά σχεδόν στο σύνολό τους ανάγονται στον κύκλο των τοιχογραφιών της Παλαιολόγειας ή Υστεροβυζαντινής περιόδου (1204-1453) που χαρακτηρίστηκε ως «Παλαιολόγειος Αναγέννηση» με κύρια χαρακτηριστικά τον ρεαλισμό, την ελευθερία στην κίνηση και τα πλούσια χρώματα στα πρόσωπα και στα ενδύματα των μορφών.
Το εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα με τίτλο: «Γνωρίζω τις Βυζαντινές Τοιχογραφίες του Μυστρά» δημιουργήθηκε και σχεδιάστηκε το 2019-2020 αρχικά από τη Σχολή Βυζαντινής Αγιογραφίας «Φώτης Κόντογλου» λόγω του γνωστικού της αντικειμένου, σε συνεργασία με το Γραφείο Νεότητος υπό την σκέπη της Ι.Μ. Μονεμβασίας και Σπάρτης και την άδεια της Εφορείας Αρχαιοτήτων Λακωνίας. Το πρόγραμμα απευθύνεται σε μαθητές και μαθήτριες Νηπιαγωγείου, Π/θμιας (όλων των τάξεων του Δημοτικού) και Δ/θμιας εκπαίδευσης (όλων των τάξεων του Γυμνασίου). Προβλεπόταν να εφαρμοστεί στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο του Μυστρά, με την παρουσία των εκπαιδευτικών του σχολείου, των κατηχητών και των συνοδών των μαθητών/τριών.
Ο κύριος σκοπός του εν λόγω εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος ήταν να γνωρίσουν οι μαθητές/τριες μέσω της δια ζώσης βιωματικής, τις τοιχογραφίες των βυζαντινών εκκλησιών του Μυστρά και ειδικότερα των Ναών του Αγ. Δημητρίου, της Οδηγήτριας, της Περιβλέπτου και της Παντάνασσας, να γίνουν αποδέκτες των ιδιαίτερων χαρακτηριστικών της συγκεκριμένης ιδιαίτερης ζωγραφικής περιόδου μέσα στην Ορθόδοξη Ανατολική Εκκλησία όπως είναι η Παλαιολόγεια τέχνη και να αποκομίσουν παιδαγωγικά, κοινωνικά, πολιτισμικά, ιστορικά και εικαστικά οφέλη.
Οι δραστηριότητες όπου σχεδιάστηκαν καλύπτουν ένα ευρύ φάσμα διδακτικών τεχνικών, μέσω διαφόρων υλικών (ζωγραφική, κατασκευές, παζλ, κ.α.) ώστε να ανταποκρίνονται στις ιδιαιτερότητες των ηλικιακών ομάδων μαθητών/τριών του Δημοτικού και του Γυμνασίου, παρέχοντας τη δυνατότητα στα παιδιά να εξοικειωθούν με τη συγκεκριμένη ζωγραφική περίοδο μέσα στην βυζαντινή ιστορία, κατανοώντας τη σημασία της, βιώνοντας την ως ένα λειτουργικό μέσο έκφρασης που δίνει πλαίσιο και αφορμές για προσωπική δημιουργία.
Λόγω της πανδημίας COVID-19 πολλά εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα δεν μπόρεσαν να παρουσιαστούν στο μαθητικό κοινό. Κύριος στόχος πλέον του εν λόγω προγράμματος είναι η ψηφιοποίηση του υλικού και η παρουσίαση του μέσω διαφόρων τεχνικών (video, χρήση drone, πολυμεσικό περιβάλλον, κα) όπου θα αποτυπωθούν αρχικά τα μνημεία και μετά ο τοιχογραφικός διάκοσμος για να παρουσιαστεί κατάλληλα στους μαθητές/τριες.

En el passat mes de maig, el conseller de Territori i Sostenibilitat, Damià Calvet, i la presidenta del Consell Comarcal del Garraf, Glòria Garcia, van signar la "Carta del paisatge del Garraf", a la qual s’han adherit posteriorment ajuntaments, institucions i entitats.
Entre les institucions i coautors signants hi ha l’Institut d’Estudis Penedesencs (IEP), representat pel seu vicepresident el Prof. Doctor Josep Antoni Herrera Sancho.
L’IEP és una institució amb més de 50 anys d'implantació a la Vegueria del Penedès, i un dels agents locals, i coautors, que ha col·laborat molt intensament els darrers dos anys, a través del Prof. Dr. Josep Antoni Herrera Sancho amb el Consell Comarcal del Garraf per a la redacció final d’aquest voluminós i molt extens document. Les Cartes de Paisatge són instruments de concert entre els diversos agents d’un territori per tal de promoure accions i estratègies de millora i valoració del paisatge.
Però una carta del paisatge no és una simple declaració testimonial de bones intencions, sinó un document de caràcter públic i de compromís a favor del paisatge on les parts signants formen part d'un projecte col·lectiu i es comprometen a treballar en conseqüència a partir d’accions específiques.
En la Carta del Paisatge del Garraf, l’IEP és agent impulsor de dues fitxes de compromís dedicades a les «Senyes marítimes dels pescadors de les Costes del Garraf» i a la «Toponímia marinera de detall dels caladors de pesca del Garraf». Totes dues fitxes pretenen recuperar, fixar i protegir el patrimoni de transmissió oral dels pescadors del nostre territori i que han emprat a través de generacions.

Это рабочий вариант статьи, знакомящей с воспоминаниями и письмами австрийского художника Генриха Голпейна. Они охватывают 1835-1860-е годы и  раскрывают детали его жизни и творчества в Вене, Праге,  Российской империи - в Петербурге и в Украине, и в Италии. Работа не завершена окончательно, и может ещё быть дополнена и изменена. Учитывая, что исследование и поиск материалов проходил на фоне войны в Украине,  запросы, контакты и обсуждения с украинскими коллегами были затруднены или даже невозможны. Поэтому работа, а особенно каталог работ художника не претендует на полноту.  Автор будет благодарен за любые дополнительные сведения.

This is the first book to explore the life and work of American artist and writer Francesca Alexander (1837-1917), who became part of the Anglo-American cultural community in Florence in the second half of the 19th century and was a celebrity on both sides of the Atlantic during her lifetime.

Francesca Alexander's work was praised by American artists such as Thomas Ball, Henry Roderick Newman and Joseph Lindon Smith, as well as English artists such as William Holman Hunt, Frederic Leighton and George Frederick Watts. She was the subject of poems by Americans James Russell Lowell and John Greenleaf Whittier, and a short article by Mabel Dodge Luhan. Her fame increased after she and her mother met John Ruskin during his visit to Florence in 1882. They entered into a lengthy correspondence; Ruskin purchased three of Francesca’s manuscripts about Tuscan life, shepherded them to publication, and celebrated her in his lectures, comparing her nature studies to those by Leonardo da Vinci. Despite this celebrity during her lifetime, Francesca’s name and her work are not well recorded in art-historical scholarship. This book will be the first monograph to examine her art and life and to analyse her within the context of Florence’s Anglo-American community, as well as considering her place in artistic and intellectual circles in the United States and England to demonstrate her broader network and great appeal.
Drawing on sources ranging from works of art to letters and diaries, many of them unpublished, as well as contemporary literature, guidebooks, newspapers, and magazines, the book will recreate the life of this fascinating artist in a vivid and compelling manner.

Dans cette thèse nous examinons le Künstlerroman (le roman de l'artiste) de George Sand en tant que lieu d'un investissement intellectuel complexe qui permet à la romancière à la fois de résoudre une crise identitaire, causée par le statut problématique de femme auteur à son époque, et de mettre en place une axiologie provocatrice qui déstabilise les étalons esthétiques, romanesques et socioculturels contemporains. Nous démontrons, dans un premier temps, comment l'exploitation des structures et des topoï du Künstlerroman dans Lettres d'un voyageur rend possible une représentation (dans la culture) de la Bildung au féminin, phénomène réputé difficile, même impossible dans la littérature du XIX e siècle. Dans un deuxième temps, nous examinons les notions, importantes pour le discours esthétique romantique, de l'idéal, de l'interprétation artistique, telles que les réfracte le Künstlerroman de Sand en les juxtaposant avec la réflexion sur le statut social de l'artiste (de la femme artiste). Une analyse de l'effet-valeur qui se dégage de plusieurs récits représentatifs sandiens (Les maîtres mosaïstes, Pauline, Consuelo, Les maîtres sonneurs) démontre comment la figure de l'artiste, figure créatrice s'il en est une, est utilisée pour produire des récits où de nouvelles significations culturelles apparaissent, de nouvelles relations normatives se forment. Traversé par l'Histoire, mais aspirant à laisser sa propre marque sur elle, le roman de l'artiste sandien met en avant les figures inexistantes dans le roman de l'artiste de ses contemporains : les femmes génies, les paysans artistes, tout en célébrant le savoir-faire des artisans. Au fil de notre étude, nous constatons que son Künstlerroman apporte d'importantes innovations au genre et à celui du iii Bildungsroman, tandis que la romancière supplée à une idéologie romantique de la sacralisation de l'Art et de l'Artiste, tout en valorisant à l'extrême ces deux notions, à l'instar de son époque, ce qu'on pourrait appeler la sécularisation de l'art et de l'artiste.

Frederic Leighton's Flaming June is a masterpiece that exemplifies the artist’s ability to create visual harmony through composition, color, and form. The painting, first exhibited in 1895 at the Royal Academy of Arts, features a reclining woman draped in a striking orange gown, evoking a sense of tranquility and warmth. The interplay of light and shadow contributes to its ethereal quality, while the saturated hues emphasize its dreamlike atmosphere. Though Leighton intended this artwork to focus solely on aesthetics rather than deeper meaning, its visual elements invite diverse interpretations. Some scholars suggest that the pose resembles Michelangelo’s Night, raising questions about artistic originality. Despite this, Flaming June continues to captivate viewers, demonstrating how art can transcend its creator’s intentions to evoke personal reflections on solitude, stillness, and introspection.

This work aims to study and analyze the homonymous landscapes Rua 25 de Março, by the Italian painter Antonio Ferrigno (1863-1940). The three works have similar dimensions, and represent the landscape of Rua 25 de Março taken from the same point of view, presenting similar elements in three different versions. Their respective collections are a Private Collection and two museums in São Paulo, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand. The works are also part of a larger set of urban landscapes produced by the artist over the twelve years he was in Brazil (1893-1905), which portray the Várzea do Carmo region, a place of representation of other landscapes of São Paulo iconography. Also analyzed are Ferrigno's contributions to the production on the city of São Paulo, alongside Brazilian and foreign artists working in São Paulo at the end of the 19th century, and to the urban theme, dialoguing with his professors, colleagues and other Italian or artists present in Italy during the period of his formation.

Este trabalho de conclusão de curso tem como objetivo o estudo e análise das paisagens homônimas Rua 25 de Março, do pintor italiano Antonio Ferrigno (1863-1940). As três obras possuem dimensões semelhantes, e representam a paisagem da Rua 25 de Março tomada de um mesmo ponto de vista, apresentando elementos similares em três diferentes versões. Seus respectivos acervos são uma Coleção Particular e dois museus paulistanos, a Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo e o Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand. As obras também fazem parte de um conjunto maior de paisagens urbanas produzidas pelo artista ao longo dos doze anos em que esteve no Brasil (1893-1905), as quais retratam a região da Várzea do Carmo, local de representação de outras paisagens da iconografia paulistana. Também são analisadas as  contribuições de Ferrigno para a produção sobre a cidade paulista, ao lado de artistas brasileiros e estrangeiros atuantes em São Paulo no final do século XIX, e para a temática urbana, dialogando com seus mestres, colegas e outros artistas italianos ou presentes na Itália durante o período de sua formação. A presente pesquisa foi possível graças às bolsas de Iniciação Científica do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (PIBIC-CNPq), entre 01 de setembro e 29 de dezembro de 2020, sob número de processo: 139049/2020-7, e da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP), entre 01 de janeiro e 31 de dezembro de 2021, sob o número do processo 2020/04185-9.

Χ., ἡ ὁποία καὶ ἔθεσε τέλος σ᾿ ἕναν ἀγῶνα ἑκατό (100) καί πλέον ἐτῶν. Κατὰ τὴν ἱστορικὴ της πορεία ἡ Ἐκκλησία ἐθριάμβευσε πολλὲς φορὲς ἐπὶ τῆς αἱρέσεως καὶ τῆς πλάνης. Ἀλλ᾿ ἀπὸ ὅλες αὐτές τίς νίκες της μόνο ἡ νίκη κατὰ τῆς Εἰκονομαχίας, ἡ νίκη τῆς ὀρθῆς πίστεως ὡς πρός τὴν εἰκόνα διεκηρύχθη ἐπίσημα. Εἶναι ἡ Κυριακὴ τῆς Ὀρθοδοξίας, ἡ πρώτη τῆς Μεγάλης Τεσσαρακοστῆς. Τό γεγονὸς αὐτὸ μᾶς φανερώνει τὴν σπουδαιότητα, τὴν ὁποία ἡ Ἐκκλησία ἀποδίδει στήν εἰκόνα, ὄχι δὲ σὲ ὁποιοδήποτε εἶδος ἀπεικονίσεως, ἀλλὰ στόν εἰκονιστικὸ ἐκεῖνο τύπο, τὸν ὁποῖο ἡ Ἐκκλησία ἐπεξεργάσθηκε καὶ καθιέρωσε κατὰ τοὺς ἀγῶνες της ἐναντίον τῆς εἰδωλολατρείας, τῆς εἰκονομαχίας καὶ ἄλλων πλανῶν. Ἡ εἰκόνα δέν εἶναι μία ἁπλὴ ἀναπαράστασι, γι᾿ αὐτὸ καὶ ἡ νατουραλιστικὴ ζωγραφική, ὡς πιστὴ ἀπεικόνησι τῆς πραγματικότητος ἀνεξαρτήτως ἀπὸ τόπο καὶ χρόνο δέν υἱοθετήθηκε ἀπὸ τὴν Ἐκκλησία μας, οὔτε διακόσμησι, οὔτε ἀκόμη εἰκαστικὴ ἀπόδοσι τῆς Ἁγίας Γραφῆς. Εἶναι κάτι τό μεγαλύτερο. Εἶναι λατρευτικὸ ἀντικείμενο, ἀναπόσπαστο μέρος τῆς θείας λατρείας. Ἡ εἰκόνα, σύμφωνα μέ τὴν διδασκαλία τῆς Ἐκκλησίας, ἀντιστοιχεῖ ἐξ ὁλοκλήρου πρός τὸν λόγον τῆς Ἁγίας Γραφῆς: «Ὅ,τι ὁ λόγος μεταδίδει διὰ τῆς ἀκοῆς, ἡ ζωγραφικὴ τό δεικνύει σιωπηρῶς μέ τὴν παράστασιν» (Μ. Βασ. PG 31, 509 Α). Καὶ οἱ Πατέρες τῆς Ζ' Οἰκουμενικῆς Συνόδου ἐπαναλαμβάνουν τοὺς λόγους τοῦ Μ. Βασιλείου καὶ διευκρινίζουν: «Μὲ αὐτὰ τὰ δύο μέσα, τὰ ὁποῖα ἀλληλοσυνοδεύονται… λαμβάνομεν γνῶσιν τῶν ἰδίων πραγματικοτήτων» (Mansi XIII, 300 C). Τό Εὐαγγέλιο μᾶς καλεῖ στήν ἐν Χριστῷ ζωὴ καὶ ἡ εἰκόνα τὴν παριστάνει. Γι᾿ αὐτὸ καὶ οἱ εἰκόνες ἢ οἱ τοιχογραφίες προσφυέστατα ὀνομάσθηκαν «τὰ βιβλία τῶν ἀγραμμάτων», ἀφοῦ αὐτὲς ἐλειτούργησαν σὰν ἕνα εἶδος ἀνοικτῶν βιβλίων σὲ καιρούς πού οἱ Χριστιανοὶ οὔτε γράμματα πολλὰ ἐγνώριζαν γιά νά διαβάσουν, οὔτε τὰ ἱερὰ βιβλία εἴχαν «εὔκαιρα εἰς μελέτην». Ἡ εἰκόνα εἶναι μία ὁρατὴ μαρτυρία ὅσον τῆς συγκαταβάσεως τοῦ Θεοῦ πρός τὸν ἄνθρωπο, τόσον καὶ τῆς φορᾶς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πρός τὸν Θεόν. Ἄλλωστε «ὁ Λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν ἡμῖν καὶ ἐθεασάμεθα τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ» (Ἰῳ. α', 14) καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς εἶναι «Εἰκὼν τοῦ Θεοῦ τοῦ ἀοράτου» (Κολ. α', 15) διὸ καὶ Τόν ἐξεικονίζουμε! Οἱ πιστοὶ προσκυνοῦμε τίς ἅγιες Εἰκόνες «τιμητικῶς» καὶ ὄχι «λατρευτικῶς», ἀφοῦ ἡ λατρεία ἀνήκει κατ᾿ ἀποκλειστικὸ τρόπο στόν Τριαδικὸ Θεό, καὶ κατὰ τὸν Μέγα Βασίλειο ἡ τιμή πού ἀποδίδουμε στίς εἰκόνες «ἐπὶ τό πρωτότυπον διαβαίνει», περνάει, δηλαδή, στό Ο ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΙΤΗΣ † Ο ΚΟΡΙΝΘΟΥ ΔΙΟΝΥΣΙΟΣ Μόνο ἡ θυσία ἐξ᾽ ἀγάπης τοῦ Ἑνός, τοῦ Μοναδικοῦ, πού εἰκονίζεται ἐπί τοῦ Σταυροῦ, ἀνθίσταται, κατά τόν ποιητή, στήν παρακμιακή κατάσταση τοῦ τοπίου πού περιγράφει καί πού «φωτογραφίζει» τήν καθημερινότητά μας. Οἱ εἰκόνες εἶναι σάν τούς μετρητικούς πασσάλους στό δρόμο μας πρός τήν καινή κτίσι, ὥστε, σύμφωνα μέ τήν ἔκφρασι τοῦ Ἀποστόλου μας· «… τήν δόξαν Κυρίου κατοπτριζόμενοι τήν αὐτήν εἰκόνα μεταμορφούμεθα…» (Β' Κορ. γ', 18). Γι᾽ αὐτό θέλουμε νά εὐχαριστήσουμε θερμά τήν Προϊσταμένη τῆς Ἐφορείας Ἀρχαιοτήτων Κορινθίας κ. Παναγιώτα Κασίμη, τήν Προϊσταμένη Τμήματος Βυζαντινῶν Χώρων καί Μουσείων Ἐφορείας Ἀρχαιοτήτων Κορινθίας κ. Μητροπόλεώς μας, πού θά φιλοξενηθοῦν στήν Ἔκθεσι, τήν κ. Ἀντωνία Τζαναβάρα, ἀναπληρώτρια Προϊσταμένη τῆς Διευθύνσεως Πολιτισμοῦ τοῦ Δήμου Κορινθίων, τήν κ. Γεωργία Τσώρη, Ἐμψυχώτρια Ἐκπαιδευτικῶν Προγραμμάτων τῆς Δημοτικῆς Πινακοθήκης καί τούς ἐργαζόμενους σ᾽αὐτήν, πού θά παράσχουν τήν δυνατότητα καί τήν χαρά στό κοινό τῆς θέας τῶν μορφῶν τοῦ Χριστοῦ, τῆς Θεοτόκου, τῶν Ἁγίων, καί τῶν γεγονότων τῆς θείας Οἰκονομίας τῆς ἀφορώσης στήν σωτηρία μας ἀπό τό κειμηλιαρχεῖο τῆς Ἀποστολικῆς Ἱ. Μητροπόλεώς μας. Χάριτας χρωστοῦμε καί στόν κ. Νικόλαον Σταυρέλην, Δήμαρχο Κορινθίων ὡς καί στόν Ἀντιδήμαρχο Πολιτισμοῦ τοῦ Δήμου μας κ. Παναγιώτη Λαμπρινό γιά τήν χορηγία καί γιά ὅσα ἐμόχθησαν πρός πραγματοποίησι τοῦ γεγονότος τῆς Ἐκθέσεως. Ἡ ἔκθεσι συνιστᾶ, πιστεύουμε, ἕνα Ἐκκλησιαστικό, θεολογικό, καλλιτεχνικό ὡς καί Ἐθνικό γεγονός ὑπό τήν ἔννοια ὅτι σέ «δυσχειμέρους» χρόνους (17ος, 18ος καί 19ος αἰω.) οἱ πιστοί Ἕλληνες, διά τῆς εὐλαβείας τους, δημιουργοῦν καί πολιτισμό, πού τόν διέσωσαν μαζί μέ τήν πίστι τους καί ὅταν ξεριζώθηκαν ἀπό τίς «ἀλησμόνητες» πατρίδες, ἀφοῦ κάποια ἀπό τά ἐκθέματα ἀποτελοῦν δωρεές προσφύγων ἀπό τήν Μικρά Ἀσία. Ἀξιομνημόνευτος ἀπό τά ἐκθέματα καί ἡ «παρρησία» ἀπό τήν Ἱ. Μονή Προφήτου Ἠλιού Ζαχόλης. Πρόκειται γιά τό ἕνα (1) ἀπό τά τρία (3) φύλλα, τοῦ τριπτύχου συνήθως, μέ τά ὀνόματα τῶν δωρητῶν τῆς Ἱ. Μονῆς, ἀναρτημένο στόν χῶρο τῆς Ἁγίας Προθέσεως πρός μνημόνευσι ἀπό τούς λειτουργοῦντας Ἐφημερίους. Ἐπίσης ἀξιοπρόσεκτος καί ἡ εἰκόνα τοῦ ὁράματος τοῦ ἐφίππου Ἁγίου Κων/νου παρά τήν Μουλβία (ἤ Μιλβία) Γέφυρα (312 μ.Χ.) ἀπό τό σπηλαιῶδες Καθολικό τῆς ὁμώνυμης Ἱ. Μονῆς στό Γελλήνι Κορινθίας κατ᾽ ἀναλογία (ἤ κατά μήμησι ἤ ἔμπνευσι) τῆς εἰκόνος τῆς ἐφίππου μητέρας Του Ἁγίας Ἑλένης στήν Ἱ. Μονή Ἁγίας Αἰκατερίνης τοῦ Σινᾶ!!! Τῶν Ἁγιογράφων ἐπωνύμων, ὡς Δημητρίου τοῦ Νομικοῦ ἐκ Ζακύνθου, Ἰωάννου Ἱερέως καί Οἰκονόμου ἐξ Ἄργους, Χριστοδούλου Ἐπιβατιανοῦ, ἀνωνύμων πού ἐφιλοτέχνησαν, τῶν δωρητῶν, ὡς τοῦ ἀοιδίμου προκατόχου ἡμῶν Γρηγορίου β' τοῦ Νοταρᾶ (1694-1715), πού ἐδαπάνησαν, τῶν Μοναχῶν, Μοναζουσῶν καί εὐλαβῶν Χριστιανῶν πού ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν προσευχήθησαν καί πολλάκις ἠσπάσθησαν αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη! πρόσωπο ποὺ εἰκονίζουν. Δέν λατρεύουμε τὴν ὕλη, τό ξύλο καὶ τὰ χρώματα μέ τὰ ὁποῖα εἶναι φιλοτεχνημένη ἡ εἰκόνα. Ἡ προσκύνησι τῆς εἰκόνας εἶναι ἕνα παράθυρο ἀνοικτὸ πρός τό ἀρχέτυπο˙ μέσα ἀπὸ τὴν εἰκόνα ἀτενίζουμε τό πρόσωπο τοῦ τιμώμενου Ἁγίου ὅπως καὶ αὐτὸς ἀτενίζει πρός ἐμᾶς. Ἂν ὁ λόγος καὶ τό ᾆσμα τῆς Ἐκκλησίας ἐξαγιάζουν τὴν ψυχὴ μας διὰ τῆς αἰσθήσεως τῆς ἀκοῆς, ἡ εἰκόνα ἁγιάζει αὐτὴν διὰ τῆς αἰσθήσεως τῆς ὁράσεως, ἡ ὁποία εἶναι ἡ πρώτη μεταξὺ τῶν αἰσθήσεων κατὰ τοὺς Πατέρας˙ «ὁ λύχνος τοῦ σώματός ἐστιν ὁ ὀφθαλμὸς» (Ματθ. στ', 22) λέγει ὁ Κύριος! Οἱ εἰκόνες μᾶς μαθαίνουν πώς νά τιμοῦμε τίς ζωντανὲς εἰκόνες, δηλαδὴ τοὺς συνανθρώπους μας «εἰ καὶ στίγματα φέροντες πταισμάτων». Ὅταν σεβόμεθα τὸν ὁποιονδήποτε ἄνθρωπο ὡς εἰκόνα Θεοῦ, δέν προσποιούμεθα ὅτι δέν ὑπάρχουν ἀτέλειες, ὅπως δέν παραβλέπουμε ὅτι ἡ εἰκόνα εἶναι κατασκευασμένη ἀπὸ ξύλο καὶ χρώματα. Γνωρίζουμε ὅτι αὐτὰ τὰ ὑλικὰ ὑπάρχουν, ἀλλὰ δέν προσδιορίζουν οὔτε καθορίζουν τὴν εἰκόνα. Ἡ ἀπώτερη ἀλήθεια βρίσκεται στό ἀρχέτυπο -πρόκειται γιά μία βαθυτέρη ἀλήθεια πέρα ἀπὸ τὴν εἰκόνα. Ὅταν ἀναφερόμεθα στόν ἀνθρωπο, ἡ βαθυτέρη αὐτὴ ἀλήθεια εἶναι ἡ ἐσχατολογικὴ ἀλήθεια τοῦ ἀνθρώπου πού θὰ συναντήσουμε στήν Βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ θὰ τὸν ἀγαποῦμε αἰώνια. Εἶναι ἀληθές ὅτι ἡ Λειτουργική καί Μυστηριακή ζωή τῆς Ἐκκλησίας μας εἶναι ἀχώριστη ἀπό τήν εἰκόνα. Πρίν ἀκόμη εἰσέλθη στό Θυσιαστήριο γιά νά τελέσει τήν Θ. Λειτουργία, τήν κατ᾽ ἐξοχή προσευχή τῆς Ἐκκλησίας, ὁ Κλῆρος «λαμβάνει καιρόν», ἀπαγγέλλει, δηλαδή, μία προσευχή ἐξαγνισμοῦ «ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἁγίων θυρῶν» καί μία ὁμολογία πίστεως ἐνώπιον τῶν λεγομένων Δεσποτικῶν εἰκόνων. Ἡ εἰκόνα εἶναι λατρευτικό ἀντικείμενο καί καλεῖται εὔστοχα «θεολογία μέ ὁρατάς παραστάσεις». Τοῦτο καθιστᾶ εὐνόητο ὅτι τό βάθος τῆς ἐκκλησιαστικῆς τέχνης, ἡ ἔννοιά της καί τό περιεχόμενό της οὔτε ἐννοεῖται οὔτε ἐξηγεῖται ἔξω τῆς Ἐκκλησίας καί τῆς ζωῆς τῆς Ἐκκλησίας. Τότε θά ἀναρωτηθεῖ κάποιος· πρός τί ἡ ἔκθεσι ὑπό τόν τίτλο: «ΕΡΓΟΝ ΘΕΙΟΝ -ΜΕΤΑΒΥΖΑΝΤΙΝΕΣ ΕΙΚΟΝΕΣ ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΣΥΛΛΟΓΗ ΤΗΣ ΙΕΡΑΣ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΕΩΣ ΚΟΡΙΝΘΟΥ» καί δή καί στήν Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη Κορίνθου καί σέ συνεργασία μέ τήν Ἐφορεία Ἀρχαιοτήτων Κορινθίας, ἡ ὁποία θά διαρκέσει καθ᾽ ὅλο τό πρῶτο τρίμηνο τοῦ ἔτους 2025, πού διανύουμε; Ἡ ἀπάντησι εὑρίσκεται στήν ἀπόφανσι τῆς Ζ' Οἰκουμενικῆς Συνόδου, ἡ ὁποία ἐντέλλεται νά θέτουμε τίς εἰκόνες, ὡς καί τό σημεῖο τοῦ Τιμίου Σταυροῦ, σἐ ὅλους τούς Ναούς, στούς οἴκους καί «εἰς τάς δημοσίας ἔτι ὁδούς», διότι βλέπει στήν εἰκόνα ἕνα ἀπό τά μέσα, τά ὁποῖα μᾶς βοηθοῦν, ὥστε νά πραγματοποιήσουμε τήν κλῆσι μας, δηλαδή νά ὁμοιωθοῦμε πρός τό θεῖο Πρότυπό μας, νά ἐκπληρώσουμε σ᾽ ὅλη μας τήν ζωή ὅ,τι μᾶς ἀπεκαλύφθη ἀπό τόν Ἐνανθρωπήσαντα Λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ. Ἐπίσης οἱ εἰκόνες τοποθετοῦ-νται παντοῦ ὡς ἁγιασμός τοῦ κόσμου διά τῆς χάριτος, ἡ ὁποία ἀνήκει σ᾽ αὐτές. Καί μέσα σ᾽ ἕνα κόσμο, σ᾽ αὐτόν πού ζοῦμε σήμερα, πού παντοῦ καραδοκεῖ ἡ ἀπουσία, ἡ ἀνεστιότητα, ἡ ἀνασφάλεια, ἡ εἰκόνα ἔχει κάτι νά μᾶς ᾽πεῖ. Τό μαρτυρεῖ ὁ Γιάννης Ρίτσος στό ποίημά του «ΤΑ ΚΑΡΦΙΑ»: «Κι᾽ αὐτό περιττό κι ἐκεῖνο καί τ᾽ ἄλλο. Ψόφησε τό σκυλί, ψόφησε τ᾽ ἄλογο. Ὁ ἄδειος κουβᾶς κάτω ἀπό τή σκάλα. Πλανόδιοι ψαράδες φωνάζουν στό δρόμο. Τό σπίτι βουΐζει ἀπουσία καί μές στόν καθρέφτη χλωμός ὁ Ἐσταυρωμένος σφίγγει φιλάργυρα στίς φοῦχτες του τά δύο καρφιά του» («Ἀργά, πολύ ἀργά μέσα στήν νύχτα», ἐκδ. ΚΕΔΡΟΣ, Ἀθήνα 1991, σ. 157).

Ecclesiastical paintings of Ionian painters outside the Ionian islands (mid. 19th – early 20th century): the example of the iconostasis icons of the church of Agios Athanasios in Amfilochia by the painter Charalambos Pahis). Summary:  Ionian ecclesiastical painting goes through its late and final phases from the middle of the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century. During this period, many Ionian painters worked outside the natural area of development of Ionian painting, which was the Ionian islands. The Corfiot painter Charalambos Pachis (1844-1891) –educated in Italy– developed his artistic activity in the last quarter of the 19th century not only in Corfu but also in other areas of the mainland. The iconostasis he painted between 1885 and 1886 in the church of Agios Athanasios in Amfilochia constitutes perhaps his most essential and complete iconographic ensemble. Other Ionian painters worked outside the Ionian Islands in the late phase of Ionian painting from the mid-19th century until the beginning of the 20th century, such as Dionysios Kallivokas or Kalyvokas, Konstantinos Livadas-Liokis, Nikolaos Liokis, Spyridon Gazis, the Prosalenti sisters, etc. Starting from the set of portable icons of Charalambos Pahis in Agios Athanasios of Amfilochia and the conditions for the assignment and execution of the work, we will attempt to interpret the artistic and cultural connotations of the spread of Ionian ecclesiastical painting to the rest of Greece in its late artistic phase.

The church of All Saints is located in the eastern part of the village of Ηimara in Albania. It belongs to the type of three-aisled, timber-roofed basilica with a gallery and a shallow Holy Bema and has general dimensions of 15.40x30.70m and a maximum internal height of 9.50m. It is covered with a single tiled roof. It is built on a steeply sloping ground from north to east, with the result of different levels inside. The three aisles of the main church are defined by two arched colonnades of four plastered columns each. The central aisle roof is higher than the two side ones. On the west side there is a narthex gynaiconite of the same width as the church. Above the narthex there is a second floor that extends to the west, but also above the side aisles.
The central aisle roof that is four-pitched, rests on the arched colonnades, which divide the church. The other two sections that cover the side aisles are lean-to roofs resting on the longitudinal walls, structurally completely independent of the roof of the central aisle.
The walls are built of rubble stone plastered on the outside with a thin coat of plaster.
On the right capital of the south door is engraved a half-erased but legible inscription:
“1828 ΙΟΥΛΙΟΥ 10 ΧΗΜΑΡΡΑ”.
The three-aisled, timber-roofed basilicas with a raised central nave, and a single double pitched roof externally churches are typologically related to a type that appeared in Central and Western Macedonia during the 19th century and not to the neighboring region of Zagoria and Epirus in general. Similar churches but with a raised clerestory appeared in southern Albania some time before Agioi Pantes. This type has long been observed to have probably been formed in Thessaloniki at the beginning of the 19th century and perhaps a little earlier. It is characterized by the combination of the three-aisled, timber-roofed basilica with a clerestory, which originated from the Middle Byzantine and Early Christian examples, with elements developed in the Ottoman period, while there is no lack of Western influences.

Moglibyśmy nazwać ów portret urzędowym, czyli należącym do tych, które z reguły ukazywały władców (lub najwyższych rangą dygnitarzy) i służyły dekoracji wnętrz różnego rodzaju instytucji państwowych 1 . Pod względem formalnym miał on wiele wspólnego z dużo starszym rodzajem reprezentacyjnych portretów przeznaczonych do galerii portretowych lub z dziełami malowanymi ku czci dobrodziejów świątyń bądź fundatorów innego rodzaju przybytków (i w nich eksponowanych). Równocześnie jednak portrety urzędowe, ze swoją specyficzną genezą i przewidzianą rolą, stanowiły wyraz zapotrzebowania na tego typu wizerunki w przestrzeniach nowoczesnych urzędów, dynamicznie rozwijających się w ciągu XIX stulecia i stanowiących przejaw gruntownej transformacji (w stosunku do epoki nowożytnej) w zakresie relacji między władzą a poddanymi. In this article I will discuss the portrait of Elvira Alberto Rego painted by José Malhoa (1855-1933) in 1917 (fig. 1). In the first two decades of the 1900s, Portuguese women wore diverse types of jewellery, covering a wide range of motifs and materials. Photographs, in particular, reveal this demand, while painted portraits, in line with the trends of the time, show less jewellery. Diamonds were the most commonly used gemstone. Despite their value, they were recommended for their sober appearance. This interest in diamonds is evident in the portrait of Elvira Alberto Rego. Like other works of the period, it shows diamonds defined by their lustre. This option allows the brooch/pendant to become the focal point of the artwork, as it is this piece that is the subject of our study.

Ces mots revendiquent des étymologies communes et s'apparentent aux termes « régisseur » et « directeur de la scène » couramment employés en France au XIX e siècle, mais qui, à partir du XX e siècle, ne sont plus synonymes de « metteur en scène ». Dans les années 1880-1910, les théoriciens français se sont attachés à distinguer le metteur en scène du régisseur en assignant à chacun une fonction particulière. Ainsi, André Antoine, dans Causerie sur la mise en scène, reprend à son compte une idée déjà formulée par plusieurs critiques auparavant : Quand, pour la première fois, j'ai eu à mettre un ouvrage en scène, j'ai clairement perçu que la besogne se divisait en deux parties distinctes : l'une toute matérielle, c'est-à-dire la constitution du décor servant de milieu à l'action, le dessin et le groupement des personnages ; l'autre immatérielle, c'est-à-dire l'interprétation et le mouvement des dialogues. 1

(1905-1938) ve Mihri Rasim (Müşfik) (1886-1954) kendilerini
sanatçı olarak tarif eden öncü kadınlardır. Saraya yakın, eğitimli bir
zümrenin mensubu olduklarından resim ve müzik dersleri alarak
yetişmiş ve çok dilin konuşulduğu bir çevrede yetişmişlerdir. Mihri
Rasim (Müşfik) sanatçı ve eğitmen olarak ikonik bir figürdür.
Kendini portre ressamı olarak yetiştiren Mihri İtalya, Fransa ve
Amerika’da sanatçı kimliği ile var olmuş, Bernard Shaw, Thomas
Edison, Franklin Roosevelt gibi ünlülerin portrelerini yapmış, İnas
Sanayi Nefise mektebinin kuruluşuna ön ayak olmuş, bir dönem
müdire olarak çalışmış ve Batılı anlamda sanat eğitimi vermiştir.
Meşrutiyet Döneminde ortaya çıkan, özgürlük isteyen güçlü kadın
hareketinin sözcüsü olmuştur. Yeğeni Hale Asaf Cumhuriyet
Döneminde Batılılaşma hedefi ile Avrupa’ya yollanan sanatçı kuşağı
arasında yer almıştır. Paris ve Roma’da sanat çevresi ile erkenden
tanışmış, Müstakil Ressamlar ve Heykeltraşlar Topluluğunun (1929)
kurucularından olmuştur. Cumhuriyet Türkiyesi’nde Mihri ve Hale
kendini ressam olarak tanımlayan öncü kadınlardır. Bu çalışmanın
amacı; Hale ve Mihri’nin sanatçı kimliklerini oluşturdukları çevreyi,
dönemin özelliklerini, sanatçı olarak başlattıkları mücadeleyi ele
almaktır. Cumhuriyet dönemi sanatçıları olan Mihri ve Hale’yi
incelemek için literatür araştırması yapılmış, haklarında yazılmış

En este trabajo se aborda la polémica en torno al proyecto para la reforma y ampliación del atrio de la catedral de León en 1794, centrando el análisis en un aspecto ignorado por la historiografía: la pertenencia del canónigo Joaquín Herrera Lorenzana, principal opositor a las obras, a las redes del reformismo borbónico en León, tejidas en gran medida en torno a miembros de la familia Lorenzana, a la que pertenecía, que servían a la monarquía borbónica tanto en León como fuera, desde sus puestos en la Iglesia, el ejército y la alta administración. El caso sirve para comprender, además, los recursos con los que contó la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando a la hora de hacer efectivo su poder de control sobre las bellas artes en España.

В искусстве России, Франции и Британии второй половины XVIII - начала XIX века есть ряд похожих исторических сюжетов. Близость одних обусловлена сходством отдельных событий истории разных стран, важных для государственной идеологии, других - подобием образа поведения действующих лиц, которые представлены как exemplа virtutis. Настоящая статья фокусируется на последних, а именно на таком частном случае, как полководцы, в том числе венценосные. Выявлены произведения русского и западноевропейского искусства, а также программы, не воплощенные в жизнь, в которых военные герои истории России, Франции и Британии, средневековые и современные, действуют, подобно великим античным: «Прощание воина с женой» («Прощание Гектора с Андромахой»), «Великодушие полководца» («Великодушие Александра Македонского/Сципиона Африканского»), «Полководец отказывается утолить жажду» («Александр Македонский отказывается испить воду, ибо ее не достаточно для всех воинов»). Сопоставление репрезентации событий в произведениях русского искусства со сведениями из доступных их создателям источников и исторических трудов позволило определить, в чем именно проявляется связь с античными прообразами (в отборе из разнообразного материала тех сюжетов или того варианта описания событий, что напоминают античные, в обращении к литературным сюжетам на темы истории, сочиненным как калька с античных). Рассмотрены визуальные способы акцентировать уподобление (рядоположение античных и отечественных сюжетов в одном пространстве или в одном заказе, заимствование иконографических мотивов).

Russia, France and Britain, medieval and contemporary, behave like the great ancient ones: “Warrior’s Farewell to his Wife” (“Hector’s
Farewell to Andromache”), “Military Commander’s Continence” (“Alexander the Great’s/Scipio’s Continence”), “Military Commander
Rejects to Quench his Thirst” (“Alexander Refuses to Drink Any Water until It Was Available for Everyone”). Comparison of representation
of events in Russian 18th-century art works with the information from sources and books on history available to the artists revealed how
exactly they were connected to their ancient counterparts (the choice of particular subjects or particular variant of account of events
resembling ancient ones from rich material, the choice of subjects on historical themes from fiction invented as calques from ancient
ones). The paper also examines visual ways to accentuate collation of ancient and modern (juxtaposition of ancient subjects and subjects
from national history in one space or in one commission, borrowing of iconographic motives).

La iglesia del convento de San Antonio ofrece unas peculiaridades entre los demás templos conventuales y parroquiales que integran el conjunto arquitectónico religioso de la ciudad de Murcia en la actualidad. Ello se debe a dos circunstancias específicas y propias. La primera, se trata de una edificación que se construyó para dar servicio y cabida a la comunidad de religiosas Concepcionistas Franciscanas, vulgo «las Antonias», y no como una parroquial para cubrir las necesidades de la colación. La segunda, es que da una particular respuesta al templo de la Contrarreforma,tanto
en su arquitectura como en su amueblamiento. No obstante, a día de hoy la iglesia está totalmente desprovista de su patrimonio mueble, quedando yerma de ornato litúrgico (pinturas, retablos, esculturas, ornamentos…). A la postre, desde hace algo más de cuatro décadas el templo quedó desacralizado, por lo que la función para la que fue levantado pereció en el devastador y complejo siglo XX, desempeñando actualmente el cometido de centro multicultural, además de que el nuevo convento ha quedado ubicado fuera de la ciudad, en la pedanía de Algezares. Así, gran parte del
patrimonio arquitectónico de la ciudad de Murcia quedó transformado, mutilado o, incluso, desaparecido después de diversas vicisitudes: la invasión napoleónica, las desamortizaciones del siglo XIX o la Guerra Civil, sumado a la dejadez posterior de instituciones y órdenes religiosas, siendo un fiel reflejo de estos hechos la iglesia y el desaparecido convento de San Antonio.

There has been much discussion about the presence of Czech musicians in Mexico during the Second Mexican Empire (1864–1867), especially in connection with the introduction of central European dance music to Mexico and, in turn, of Mexican melodies to Europe. The estate of the Mexican court bandmaster Josef Rudolf Sawerthal (1819–1893), kept at the Czech Museum of Music, clarifies certain assertions that have long been in circulation. Correspondence dated 1864 documents that Josef Sawerthal was entrusted with the recruitment of musicians for an Austrian Volunteer Corps, and he found them in Bohemia. Thereafter, at the request of Emperor Maximilian, Josef Sawerthal joined the expedition to Mexico despite having wished to remain with his family and having suggested Josef Řebíček (1844–1904) as his replacement. After the Austrian volunteer Corps was dissolved, he returned home, while most of the members of the band stayed in Mexico. Sawerthal’s letters dated 1864 along with period press reports also provide more detailed information about the biography of his daughter, the singer Mathilde Sa werthal-Weissmann (1846–1908). Her journey to Mexico was followed by a failed attempt to win an engagement at the Provisional Theatre in Prague. Texts from 1864 also bear witness to an episode when Josef Sawerthal began signing his name as “Zavrtal” using Czech orthography. After returning from Mexico, he reverted to the German spelling “Sawerthal” used by his family.

The article examines the peculiarities of Russian animalier
art. The work’s relevance is that it brings to light the new
ontological and morphological status of animalistic art
that has to do with the composition of the modernera world picture from the 18th to the first half of the
20th centuries, which differs in many respects from its
mediaeval counterpart. The article is aimed at revealing
the peculiarities of animalier art in the context of the era
and existing genres, understanding its specific nature as
determined by the animal model and the perception of
it that implies the evaluation of objective and subjective
factors in an image. In addition, the article looks at the
peculiarities of an animalier artist’s working method
as he or she deals with a mobile model not prone to
posing, his or her priorities of plot and theme in depicting
animals, and the significance of animalier art in general.
The article shows that the major initial principle for artists
involved in animal depiction was the imitation of nature.
This eventually led to the formation of a separate genre,
namely animalier art, with a set of distinctive features
of its own. The article takes the historical-problematic
method as its major approach, implying the articulation
of issues specific to the animalistic genre as well as
historical-artistic issues, which makes it possible to give
a valuation to the artistic aspects of Russian animalier art
as a distinctive, original phenomenon in history.

The author notes the significance of the animalistic genre, a genre from the academic
environment and one which has had a major role as a school of professional excellence.
Despite the length of time that animalier art has been around, it has managed to
preserve its “genre memory” and the unity of its morphological characteristics in
various types of art. It made it past the 20th Century and is still around today. The
material covered in the paper is of value for art history, as it enriches national art with
new research findings and little-known facts, for pedagogics, and also in the broader,
philosophical sense, as it raises issues of a moral nature (the interrelationship between
man and animals).
